Abstract

The need for reading comprehension assessment tools that can measure the ability of Javanese in Javanese Language and Literature students is the background of this research. The purpose of this study was to develop a medium for assessing reading comprehension using computer digital media. The product developed in this study is in the form of an evaluation application in the form of a flash, which created with a Quiz Creator application that can also be used by other researchers to make an evaluation or test questions. This evaluation media development model uses the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation) developed by Dick, and Carey (2001). The result is the students are more interested in using media assessment in reading the Computer Based Test understanding because it is easy to use, a good look and a modern digital concept. The assessment score and the category of student achievement in reading comprehension skills can be immediately known. The hopefully, the developing assessment media reading this understanding, inspires to build another evaluation media with modern digital concepts, so that learning and evaluation are not considered boring for educators and students.

Abstract

Students' responses to the teacher's directive speech act are often not in line with expectations becaused they do not pay attention to the social context, interactional context and individual agency. The objectives of this research are: to describe the social context dimensions, the interactional context dimensions, and the individual agency onteacher’s directive speech act in teaching – learning interactions. This research uses a qualitative description approach and theoretical approach to classroom discourse analysis (Rymes). There is a variety of social distance (familiarity), teacher's high social status, interaction formalities situation, and the dominance of affective and referential functions in teacher's directive speech acts. Teacher's directive speech acts bring predictable, unpredictable interactivity, and create new contexts. Teacher's directive speech acts can showability master in subject matter, the ability to delivery subject matter, and ability tointeraction. The results of this research can be used as a reference in linguistic research and interaction in teaching and learning activities.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of learning to present the creative ideas in the form of narrative text using direct instruction models and ARIAS models based on learning styles of students of class VII junior high school. So far, the learning process of writing is still theoretical, emphasizing aspects of knowledge and understanding only, the teacher in using the learning model is still less than optimal, while the aspect of practice has not gotten the teacher's attention. The results of this research can prove the effectiveness of the use of direct instruction models and ARIAS models for students who are visual and auditory learning styles so that their learning outcomes are optimal. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental. Research data collection techniques using test instruments of narrative text writing skills, learning style tests, and observations. Normality test using Kolmogorov Smirnov test on SPSS 16 program, a test of Levene test homogeneity, and hypothesis testing with 2x2 variant analysis. The conclusions of the results of this research are (1) the use of direct instruction models is more effective for students who have an auditory learning style and the use of the ARIAS model is more effective for students who have a visual learning style, (2) narrative text writing skills of students who have auditory learning styles are different from students' narrative text writing skills who have a visual learning style, (3) learning models and learning styles of students influence the writing skills of narrative text of VII grade junior high school students.

Abstract

Teaching materials in colleges highly support success of students in following their lecture. Moreover, the teaching material need integration of Brebes’ local wisdom in order that the students have understanding on glorious values available to Brebes. The objective of this study is to describe need to develop interactive teaching materials based on local wisdom of Brebes pursuant to perception of students and lecturers, to make draft of interactive teaching materials based on local wisdom of Brebes, and to test effectiveness of interactive teaching materials based on the local wisdom of Brebes. This study was conducted by research and development methods using steps of literature study, from planning of research to implementation of end-product. Testing was conducted on limited scale. The results of study are interactive teaching materials that have met lecturers and students’ needs and principles of teaching material development. Moreover, the interactive teaching materials are effectively applied to students of PBSI UMUS in semantic material.

Abstract

Communication is basically a liability of cooperative principles although there are some transgression toward the principles. The transgression occurs on Angkringan TVRI Jogja humor. The purpose of this research is to analyse the transgression of the principles and implicature as well as to explain the intention and the delivered social criticism realization. The data is collected using observing and interview method. Observation uses listening method and participant observation method and nothing technique. The interview used uses eliciting technique, face to face and transcribing techniques. The data is analysed using coding technique by having categorization of selected elements and advanced technique by correlating and comparing the differences. In the discourse of Angkringan TVRI Jogja humour discourse, there are some transgression toward four principles. The most transgressed principle is relevancy principle. From the transgression, then it is created implicature containing social criticism. The criticisms mostly found in the discourse are related to social criticism in the form of revealing. The delivery of the criticism done by using humour is seen to be more effective because it has low offensive level.

Abstract

Communication in teaching learning process needs utterance which is expressive and humanist, so that the message conveyed can be received by locutors. Humanist expressive speech act is needed both by teacher and students in class. This research is aimed to describe shape and function of humanism expressive utterance on teaching-learning process in industrial Tecknology vocational High School. The utterance action is classified into declarative, representative, expressive, directive and comissive. The discussion is focused on industrial Technologi vocational   high school.Utterans action on learning-teaching interaction in industrial Technology vocational high school. Collecting data uses sap tapped method. Research metod uses qualitive-descritive research. Speaking method is used to analyze shape and function of humanist expresive utterance. The research results are, first, humanist expresive utterance shape, includes, (a) direct utterance, is utterans which is appropriate beween modus and its function. Direct utterence modused imperative, declarative, interogatif, (b) indirect utterance is utteran which is not appropriate between modus and its function. Indirect utterance action modused interogative-imperative and declarative-imperative. Function of humanist expressve utterence (a) asking for forgive, (b) saying greting, (c) conveying grivance, (d) criticizing(e) complimenting, (f) allusing.

Abstract

Poetry becomes one of poets’ media to deliver aspiration, notion, even ideologies. One of the poets who were able to share his notion, feeling even reality well was W.S. Rendra. The purpose of the research is to describe his point of view of world express into Four Poetry Sets. The data of the research is excerpts which have relevancy to problem symptom, the data is gained through understanding the text and literature studies. The review toward W.S. Rendra’s work titled Empat Kumpulan Sajak using literature sociology approach, Goldmann genetic Structuralism theory. Through genetic Structuralism, the theory can be seen completely how the point of view of a poet. The findings are some factors of humanism affecting the poetries in Empat Kumpulan Sajak. Besides the fact of humanity, there is also a point of view of W.S Rendra about compassion, nature, and patriotism. The benefit for readers is they can get and understand W.S. Rendra’s point of view expressed through Empat Kumpulan Sajak.

Abstract

Learning the writing skill of explanatory text demands the students to explain a certain phenomenon occurrence process. Therefore, it needs appropriate learning model to the learners’ learning style. The purpose of this research is to explain the effectiveness of learning writing explanatory text using group investigation based on eleventh graders’ of Senior High School learning style. This research with one group pre-test – post-test design used purposive sampling technique. The technique of data analysis of the instrument used validity and reliability test. Meanwhile, to test the sample used normality and homogeneity test. The final data analysis used a t-test to find out the comparison of the effectiveness of learning writing explanatory text based on learning style. The findings showed sensing typed learners gained 84.71 while intuition typed learners was 78.15. Learning writing explanatory using group investigation model was more effective for sensing typed learners. The significance of the research is to enrich research development on the educational field and to add more knowledge in learning writing explanatory text in educational institutions.

Abstract

The private television program presented by Presenter-Comedian Sule and Andre, This Talkshow, is popular with the public because of the presenter's humorous cohesiveness. Violations of the principle of cooperation cause the humorous effect of the language used by the participants based on age, sex, and social status. This research was conducted to analyze the violation of the principle of cooperation in a humorous speech in this talk show using sociopragmatic studies. Sociopragmatics essentially combines two types of studies, namely Sociolinguistics and Pragmatics. Data collection was carried out by a referring method which was continued with skillful in-flight listening techniques and accompanied by recording and recording techniques. Data analysis was performed using the comparing pragmatic method and method of agih. Based on the results of this study, the creation of humorous speeches is carried out by speakers by utilizing violations of the maxims of the principle of cooperation in humorous speech as a source of creativity. Violations of the principle of cooperation often function as supporting humor.

Abstract

Learning in the classroom often makes students have difficulties in distinguishing the content of news texts with other texts. One of the factors that cause this problem is that students do not fully understand news text writing skills, which include assessment of the title, completeness of the elements of news, diction, sentence effectiveness and spelling in the form of news text. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of learning news text writing skills with STAD and Direct Instruction models based on language attitudes. The design of the study uses a quasi-factorial experiment. The study population is the SMP in Bima Subdistrict using purposive sampling technique. This study used two samples of each class consisting of 32 students namely class VIIIA SMPN 1 Lambu as the experimental class to get treatment using the STAD model and VIIIC class 6 Lambu Junior High School as the control class to get treatment using the Direct Instruction model. Data collection techniques are test and non-test. Data analysis techniques to determine the effectiveness of STAD models using t-test and Anava to determine differences in STAD models and Direct Instruction. The results of the writing skills of the news text STAD model with the average value of the experimental group pre-test 67.59 and the post-test results of 77.78 there were significant differences in the improvement of learning outcomes by 10.19, proved the value of tvalue = 8.459. After using the Direct Instruction model effective in learning news text writing skills from the average pre-test control class of 67.50 and the post-test results to equal to 76.50, there was a significant change of 9, proved tvalue = 13.889. The skill to write news texts on the positive-speaking attitude of students who are treated with the STAD model is better than the writing skills of news texts for students whose positive speaking attitude is treated with the Direct Instruction model.
