Abstract

This study aims to determine the ability of analytic thinking students especially deaf students. Analytic is included in thinking skills that lead students to become independent thinkers and able to demonstrate the quality of students' abilities. There are 3 stages in analytic thinking, namely differentiating, attributing and connecting. The method used in the study is mixed methods with concurent strategies. The subject of this research is State Public High School for Deaf students. The improvement of students' analytical thinking ability is 0.22 and included in the low category. The results of the percentage value of deaf students for differentiating indicators was 56.94%, attributed to 43.05%, and linking by 71.11%.

Abstract

MA Al Asror Semarang has a fern taxonomy garden that can be used for observing Plantae material, especially Pteridophyta, but doesn’t yet have a student’s worksheets that can direct the activity process. This study aims to develop student’s worksheets (LKS) based on a scientific approach and testing the validity, practicality and effectiveness. This study uses the Research and Development (R&D) approach with the ADDIE model. Validity of student’s worksheets is obtained from media experts, practicality is measured by teacher and student responses and effectiveness is measured by student learning outcomes. The results show that the students’ worksheets was declared 'very valid' with an average score of 94.10%, 'very practical' by teachers and students responses with an average score of 82,66% and effective as a supplement for teaching materials because it can improve cognitive learning outcomes of students with N-gain of 0.58 (criteria 'medium') and optimize psychomotor learning outcomes of students with an average score of 86.34% (criteria 'very good' ). Based on the results of the study, scientific-based student’s worksheets by utilizing a fern taxonomy garden stated as worthy to be used as a supplement of teaching material for Plantae at the MA Al Asror Semarang.

Abstract

Ecosystem materials taught with contextual examples need to be arranged in a type of teaching material for students. One teaching material that can be used is a module. Modules can be used by students with or without teacher guidance. so that students more easily understand material that is close to their daily lives. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the module on learning outcomes and students' scientific literacy abilities. as well as the module development response for teachers and students. This study used a pre-experimental method with the design of one group pretest-posttest design. Based on the results of the ecosystem module research based on scientific literacy effectively increasing student learning outcomes seen from the value of n-gain 0.70 in class X MIA 1 and 0.73 in class X MIA 2 with each criterion high. Effective module on the value of scientific literacy of students with a value of 84.15 in class X MIA 1 and 84.79 in class X MIA 2. Teacher responses to ecosystem modules based on scientific literacy results of 91.30% development of highly feasible criteria and student responses to ecosystem modules science-based literacy results of 85.50% development criteria are very feasible.

Abstract

The project-based learning model developed by collaborating with the social networking site Edmodo is expected to be able to change the educational paradigm which once embraced teacher-centered learning into student-centered learning. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of project-based learning model assisted by Edmodo’s social networking site on critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes. This research was conducted in class VIII SMP Negeri 6 Jepara in even semester of Lesson 2018/2019 year on substance pressure. The research design used was pre-test and post-test control group design. The data were collected by questionnaire, observation, documentation and test method. The results showed that the value of tcount  critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes > ttable value (2.042). The value of tcount critical thinking skills and learning outcomes respectively is 12.714 and 2.757. The results of this study conclude that the project-based learning model assisted by Edmodo's social networking site is effective to improve critical thinking skills and student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Science learning is expected to provide students with the provision to grow and improve critical thinking skills. Someone who has the ability to think critically can identify strategies and make the right decisions in problem solving. The results of previous studies indicate that junior high school students' critical thinking skills are in low category. This study aims to analyze the improvement of students' critical thinking skills through guided inquiry learning. Guided inquiry learning is one of innovative learning that is appropriately applied to science learning, because students can be actively involved in the learning process to search and investigate systematically with teacher guidance. The design of this study used quasi experiment with non-equivalent control group design. Students' critical thinking skills are measured using 27 multiple choices. The results showed that critical thinking skills of experiment group were higher than those control group and the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in aspects elementary clarification, basic support, inference, advanced clarification of experiment group higher than control group, while aspects strategy and tactics of experiment and control group have different increases in the same category.
