Abstract

The study aims to describe the mathematical creative thinking ability reviewed from intellectual intelligence and cognitive style in SSCS learning with open-ended problems. This research is a type of mix method research with sequential explanatory design. The population of this research is a class VII student of State Junior High School 3 Semarang academic year 2018/2019. Sampling method used in this study was random sampling technique. The study subject was selected with the purposive sampling technique based on the results of the intellectuality intelligence and the field independent (FI) cognitive style or the field dependent (FD). The results showed that the group of upper normal intelligence students category with the cognitive style of FI reaches the four indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability so that they are included in Level 4 (very creative), the group of upper normal intelligence students categorywith the cognitive style of FD can achieve three indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability and included in Level 3 (creative), the group of normal students category with the cognitive style of FI can achieve two indicators of mathematical creative thinking ability which then is included in Level 2 (quite creative), and the group of normal students category with the cognitive style of FD is only able to achieve a single indicator of mathematical creative thinking ability so that it is included in Level 1 (less creative).

Abstract

Mathematical problem solving ability is an important ability in learning mathematics. This study aims to describe students' mathematical problem solving abilities through AIR learning with ethnomathematics nuanced. This research is descriptive research. The population in this study were all class X of Senior High School 5 Semarang in the academic year 2019/2020. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. The sample in this study were X MIPA 10 as the experimental class and X MIPA 7 as the control class. The research subjects were selected based on self-efficacy categories, namely high, moderate, and low. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires and tests. The data analysis used was descriptive data analysis and independent sample t-test. The results showed that the application of the AIR learning model with ethnomatematics nuanced can improve students’ mathematical problem solving abilities. Students with high self-efficacy categories are able to achieve all four aspects of problem solving abilities, namely understanding problems, devising a plan, carrying the plan, and looking back correctly and completely, while students with moderate and low self-efficacy categories have not been able to achieve all four aspects of problem solving abilities.

Abstract

This research aims to determine mathematics communication skill patterns through an E-learning-based Problem Based Learning model reviewed from learning styles. This mixed-method research applied a sequential explanatory design. The subjects consisted of 32 AMNI Maritime University Semarang students, from the transport management department, based on three learning styles: visual, auditory, and kinesthetic. The data were collected using a mathematics communication skill test, learning style questionnaire, documentation, and interview. The findings showed that visual and auditory typed students' mathematics communication skills had reached accurate writing skills. They could also conclude and answer the given problems accurately. On the other hand, the visual and kinesthetic typed students could state the daily problems by writing the information. However, they were less capable of writing them into mathematics notation. The students with auditory and kinesthetic learning styles could not completely illustrate the given problems.

Abstract

Problem-solving abilities are one of the five standards of mathematical ability that students must have (NCTM). This study aims to describe the ability to solve mathematical problems in LMS-assisted SPS learning in terms of self-regulated learning (independent learning). The research method used is a mixed method with a concurrent embedded design method. This research was conducted at SMK Negeri 1 Bawen in the academic year 2019/2020. The subjects in this study were students of class XI which consisted of one experimental class with LMS assisted SPS learning and one control class. In the experimental class, two students were chosen from high, medium and low levels of independence. Hypothesis testing uses the proportion test, the average completeness test, the proportion difference test and the average difference test. The results showed that students with high learning independence could carry out each stage of problem solving well, students with moderate learning independence could carry out each stage of problem solving well but some stages were sometimes missed, while students with low learning independence could not carry out all complete problem-solving stages so that you cannot find a solution to the problem correctly.

Abstract

This research describes mathematics communication through Numbered Heads Together (NHT) with written corrective feedback based on the students' levels of mathematical habits of mind and the correlation between written and spoken mathematics communication ability. This research is a mixed method with sequential explanatory design. It is a combined design between quantitative and qualitative. The population consisted of seventh graders of Rembang 4 Junior High School. The findings showed that NHT with written corrective feedback was effective for mathematics communication ability and mathematical habits of mind. The description results of mathematics communication ability are based on different levels of mathematical habits of mind (MHoM). From three students with high, moderate, and low mathematics communication ability, they had scores of 1, 2, and 0. On the fifteen moderate MHoM students, those with high, moderate, and low mathematics communication ability had scores of 1, 14, and 0. On four low MHoM students, those with high, moderate, and low mathematics communication ability obtained scores of 1, 3, and 0.

Abstract

Problem-solving ability is one of the standard mathematical abilities that students must have. This ability can be mastered well by students if students have affective abilities, one of which is self-efficacy. The aim of this research is to describe mathematical problem-solving abilities based on the self-efficacy of VII grade students in MTs Negeri 1 Semarang. This research method is descriptive qualitative. The technique of taking the subject was taken by six subjects by purposive sampling. The results showed that the description of mathematical problem solving abilities in terms of student self-efficacy varied, namely (1) students with high self-efficacy obtained six high category students' mathematical problem solving abilities and one medium category student and able to master four indicators of mathematical problem solving abilities is very well, (2) students with medium self-efficacy obtained mathematical problem solving abilities as much as one high category student, 18 medium category students, one low category student, but only good problem solving abilities on two indicators, (3) students with low self-efficacy, the results were five students in the medium category and two students in the low category, but they did not fully have complete mathematical problem solving abilities in all indicators of mathematical problem solving abilities.
