Abstract

Corn is one of the major commodities after rice. Efforts to increase corn production face challenges, namely land damage due to excessive and long-lasting use of inorganic fertilizers so that soil health decreases. Therefore, it is necessary to use organic fertilizers to increase soil fertility and elevate plant growth. Organic fertilizers can be used to enhance soil fertility like black grass jelly waste, both solid and liquid. This study aimed to determine the effect of organic fertilizer from black grass jelly waste on solid and liquid at corn plants. The results showed that the use of black grass jelly, both solid and liquid, had a significant effect on the height of corn plants but did not significantly affect the number of leaves of corn plants.

Abstract

This study aimed was to identify and evaluate the shape and function of trees, using a survey method with quantitative parameters, namely pollution reduction, noise suppression, and physical barrier. The parameters are adjusted to the criteria for the function of road landscape plants as determined by the Ministry of Public Works, Directorate General of Highways (1996). The existence of plants in the green lane of the Veterans Road landscape has an important meaning in relation to the security, safety, and comfort of road users and the sustainability of the surrounding environment. Based on the results of the evaluation carried out, it can be concluded that the quantity and quality of plants on the site from the aspect of their function as pollution reducers, noise absorbers, and space dividers, and aesthetic aspects have not fully met the criteria. Pollution reducing parameters, on the east side 73.8%; Central Park 86.46%; and West 75.36%, with a level of good to very good. As a noise reducer, plants in the East 50.5%; Central Park 45.65%; and West 61.65%, with moderate to good levels. As a Barrier, on the East side 66.00%; Central Park 64.2%; and West 63.00%, with good levels. As for aesthetics in the selection of plants, on the East side 22.89%; Central Park 25.35%; and West 17.74%, with poor grades. The crop arrangement on the East side is worth 76.8%; Central Park 87.36%; and West 74.22%, with a level of good to very good.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of spraying the insecticide fipronil on the growth and intensity of pest attacks on green bean plants. This study used a randomized block design with four replications. The treatments tested in this study used application of the insecticide fipronil with a concentration of 2 ml/l in the vegetative and generative growth phases, the application of insecticides on vegetative growth only, the application of insecticides on generative growth only, and control without insecticide treatment.  The results showed that the insecticide fipronil used on vegetative and generative phases was used once and two times a week could reduce the intensity of leaf pests (24.98%) and pod pests (4.50%). Fipronil insecticide can also act in a plant growth substance as shown in the parameters of plant height, the number of leaves and components of mung bean seed yield is better than the control without fipronil application the application of insecticides on vegetative growth. The application of insecticides on the vegetative and generative growth phase by spraying insecticide once a week also affected yield components of 400.31g/clump and seed weight per mung bean plant of 27.67g/clump compared to other treatments.

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain recommendations for effective treatment times to increase the growth and yield of ginger plants. The research used a Randomized Block Design, colchicine immersion time was used in this research as the treatments, including 0 hours (control) (L0), 4 hours (L1), 8 hours (L2), 12 hours (L3), and 16 hours (L4). The results showed that were differences in colchicine immersion time caused significant differences between diploid and polyploid plants. The morphological characters of plant height, rhizome weight, productivity, and essential oil, while the morphological characters of root length and rhizome diameter were soaked in colchicine for 8 and 12 hours showed a non-significant difference. Colchicine soaking for 12 hours is the most effective treatment to increase the growth and yield of red ginger plants and has an optimal essential oil content.

Abstract

The most prominent sector in Indonesia and the livelihood of the Indonesian population is the agricultural sector. PT. Kusuma Agrowisata is a company engaged in apple agrotourism, but farmers which joined at PT. Kusuma Agrowisata does not use their potential to the fullest due to the education and knowledge of farmers and because it is still traditional there. So it is necessary to provide counseling to farmers about the government so that these creative and independent farmers are part of agricultural empowerment. This research aims to identify and analyze the pattern of community empowerment of PT. Kusuma Agrowisata. The method of collecting data was through interviews with 20 farmers. The data was analyzed by SWOT analysis. The results of this study state the pattern of farmer community empowerment at PT. Kusuma Agrowisata has two indicators, namely counseling and training.

Abstract

Alar is a growth regulator that in certain concentrations can inhibit growth, shorten stem segments, strengthen stems to improve the quality of tissue-cultured seedlings. This study aimed to determine the effect of alar and Benzyl Adenin (BA) on banana meristem multiplication. The experiment was conducted in Tissue Culture Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tribhuwana Tunggadewi University, Malang. The study used a Completely Randomized Design consisting of two factors, namely alar concentration (A0 = 0 mg/l and A1 = 1 mg/l) and BA concentration (B1 = 1 mg/l, B2 = 3 mg/l, B3 = 5 mg/l and B4 = 7 mg/l). Observations were made for 12 weeks of culturing with the observation variables: shoot initiation, number of shoots/explants, number of leaves, and shoot height. The results showed that alar and BA did not significantly affect the development of banana meristems. The use of Alar caused the banana plantlets to be shorter and sturdy, while BA affected the number of shoots produced. BA 1 mg/l was able to increase more shoots.

Abstract

Nugget is one of the foods consumed by numerous people.  In this study, the raw material for nuggets was tempeh and formulated with purslane to obtain nuggets that contain fiber and are low in fat. This research used three treatment formulations of ingredients and purslane: 95%: 5% (NK1); 90%:10% (NK2); 85%:15% (NK3) and control without the addition of purslane.  The treatments have tested for preference. The best sample based on the preference test was then tested for fiber and fat content and compared with the control. The results of the study found that the best treatment based on the preference test was the addition of purslane 1.62% and NK2 1.87%. The fat content of the control nugget was 15.64% and NK2 was 15.02%.

Abstract

Sorghum is a suitable crop grown in dry and nutrient-poor areas. So it is suitable to be developed in dry and marginal land areas. However, in the cultivation of sorghum on dry land and lack of nutrients, it still needs the effort to increase the yield. This study aimed was to determine the response of sorghum plants to the application of Trichoderma sp. and fertilizer dosage. Treatments tested in this study were with the first factor being the application of Trichoderma and the second factor being the fertilizer dose of 50%, 40%, 30%. 20%, 10% and 0%. The results showed that the treatment has no interaction between Trichoderma application and fertilizer dosage. However, the fertilizer dose had a significant effect on all observation parameters. A fertilizer dose of 40% provides the most effective and efficient results to support the growth and production of sorghum plants.

Abstract

Cocoa (Theobroma cacao L.) is a commodity of plantation crops that plays a primary role in the Indonesian economy. This study aimed to determine the growth of cocoa beans (Theobroma cacao L.) with different variations in coconut water concentration and length of soaking time. Treatments tested in this study used two levels of treatment. First factor was coconut water concentration (A) consisting of control (0%), (30%), (60%), and (90%). The second factor of soaking time (B) consisted of control (0 hours), (16 hours), (20 hours), (24 hours), and (28 hours). The result showed that combination treatment of coconut water solution 60% + 24-hour soaking showed the best results for all parameters of germination time (day), percentage of germination day 14, length of sprouts day 14, wet weight of sprouts day 14, the height of the plant day 28, wet weight of the 28th-day shoot and wet weight of the root of the 28th day.
