Abstract

Purpose - This research aims to find out what adaptations in the characters and stories of the Mahabharata wayang towards Islamic da’wah which have unwittingly become the culture of all Indonesian people and not just followers of IslamMethod - The research approach is through a historical approach, namely an approach to investigate, understand, and critically explain the past, considering quite carefully the validity of historical sources and the interpretation of historical information sources.Result - This research shows that there are two forms of adaptation, namely first, character adaptation from the meaning of the five Pandawa characters, namely Yudhistira, Bima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sadewa, to the addition of characters with unique characters called Punakawan with Semar, Gareng, Petruk, and Bagong. Second, changing the storyline regarding changing several stories that are contrary to dakwah Islam, namely polyandry, women resembling men, the arrangement of gods, and the addition of stories that do not yet exist.Implication - The implications of this research can provide insight into the adaptation of the Mahabarata wayang story in Islamic da'wah.Originality/Value - The adaptation of Wayang Mahabharata characters and stories to Islamic da'wah illustrates a creative synthesis between Javanese cultural heritage and Islamic teachings, enabling the transmission of religious values through familiar narrative forms. This cultural integration not only preserves traditional art forms but also makes Islamic principles more accessible and relatable to the local population.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aimed to explore big data analysis on social media da'wah manuscripts to understand and gain deeper insights into the phenomenon of da'wah in the digital era.Method – Using the big data analysis method, this study describes the main trends, interaction patterns, and impact of da'wah-themed texts on social media. Data was collected from the Dimension indexer as it is one of the platforms recognized by Arjuna (a national journal accreditation agency), and it is able to identify the most discussed and cited articles as well as other interaction analyses.Result – This big data analysis provides a deep understanding of the dynamics of the study of da'wah on social media. This allows us to see how da'wah messages on social media are adapted, accepted, and used by society in a digital context.Implication – This article details the implications of big data analysis findings for developing da'wah studies in social media. It presents potential future research directions to enrich our understanding of the dynamics of da'wah in the digital age.Originality/Value – This article makes a new contribution by examining extensive data from da'wah manuscripts through the Dimensions platform to track da'wah research on social media. This study stands out for its fresh method of merging big data analysis with Dimensions-indexed data, an area that has not been thoroughly investigated.***Tujuan – Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengeksplorasi analisis big data pada naskah dakwah di media sosial sebagai sarana untuk memahami dan mendapatkan wawasan yang lebih dalam tentang fenomena dakwah di era digital.Metode – Dengan menggunakan metode analisis big data, penelitian ini mendeskripsikan tren utama, pola interaksi, dan dampak dari teks-teks bertema dakwah di media sosial. Data dikumpulkan dari pengindeks Dimensions karena merupakan salah satu platform yang diakui oleh Arjuna (lembaga akreditasi jurnal nasional), dan mampu mengidentifikasi artikel yang paling banyak dibicarakan, paling banyak dikutip, serta analisis interaksi lainnya.Hasil – Hasil dari analisis big data ini memberikan pemahaman yang mendalam tentang dinamika studi dakwah di media sosial, yang memungkinkan kita untuk melihat bagaimana pesan-pesan dakwah di media sosial diadaptasi, diterima, dan digunakan oleh masyarakat dalam konteks digital.Implikasi – Artikel ini merinci implikasi dari temuan analisis big data untuk pengembangan studi dakwah di media sosial dan menyajikan potensi arah penelitian di masa depan untuk memperkaya pemahaman kita tentang dinamika dakwah di era digital.Orisinalitas/Nilai – Artikel ini memberikan kontribusi baru dengan mengkaji data ekstensif dari naskah dakwah melalui platform Dimensions untuk melacak penelitian dakwah di media sosial. Penelitian ini menonjol karena menggunakan metode optimum dalam menggabungkan analisis data besar dengan data yang diindeks oleh Dimensions.

Abstract

Purpose – This article attempts to explain Tuan Guru's communication strategy in conflict resolution between Islamic groups in Lombok, namely between communities affiliated with the Nahdlatul Wathan organization versus the Sunnah (Wahhabi) group.Method – This article uses a qualitative method-case study. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and interviews and then analyzed through the stages of condensation, display, interpretation, and conclusion.Result  – The results of this study show that the source of conflict that occurs in the community is the difference in religious ideology between Aswaja Islam and Wahhabi Islam. Second, the master teacher was able to mediate the conflict by using religious and cultural communication strategies. He campaigned for peace values derived from Islamic teachings and strengthened socio-cultural capital as a tool for harmony, such as silaturrahim in the tradition of begawe (feast) of marriage, birth, and death.Implication – This article contributes to the study of Tuan Guru employs a communication strategy that emphasizes dialogue and mutual understanding, facilitating open discussions to bridge gaps between differing religious ideologies. By fostering a respectful exchange of perspectives, he creates a platform for resolving conflicts and promoting religious harmony.Originality/Value – This research exploration of tuan guru not only as a leader of the pesantren but also as a "peacemaker" This shows that the guru's leadership is quite strategic in terms of conflict and peace.***Tujuan - Artikel ini bertujuan menjelaskan strategi komunikasi Tuan Guru dalam penyelesaian konflik antara kelompok-kelompok Islam di Lombok, yaitu antara komunitas yang terafiliasi dengan organisasi Nahdlatul Wathan versus kelompok Sunnah (Wahabi). Metode - Artikel ini menggunakan metode kualitatif-studi kasus. Data dikumpulkan melalui observasi, dokumentasi, dan wawancara kemudian dianalisis melalui tahapan kondensasi, tampilan, interpretasi, dan kesimpulan. Hasil - Hasil dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa sumber konflik yang terjadi dalam masyarakat adalah perbedaan ideologi agama antara Islam Aswaja dan Islam Wahabi. Kedua, guru besar mampu memediasi konflik dengan menggunakan strategi komunikasi agama dan budaya. Dia melakukan kampanye untuk nilai-nilai perdamaian yang bersumber dari ajaran Islam dan memperkuat modal sosial-budaya sebagai alat untuk keharmonisan, seperti silaturrahim dalam tradisi begawe (persilatan) pernikahan, kelahiran, dan kematian. Implikasi - Artikel ini memberikan kontribusi pada studi tentang Tuan Guru yang menggunakan strategi komunikasi yang menekankan dialog dan pemahaman saling, memfasilitasi diskusi terbuka untuk menjembatani kesenjangan antara ideologi agama yang berbeda. Dengan mendorong pertukaran pandangan yang saling menghormati, dia menciptakan platform untuk penyelesaian konflik dan mempromosikan harmoni agama. Orisinalitas/Nilai - Penelitian ini mengeksplorasi Tuan Guru bukan hanya sebagai pemimpin pesantren tetapi juga sebagai "peacemaker." Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa kepemimpinan guru cukup strategis dalam hal konflik dan perdamaian.

Abstract

Purpose - The transformative power of new media has revolutionized the practice of Islamic da'wah. This article examines the implications of the intersection of religion and new media for contemporary da'wah practices.Method - This study uses qualitative research with a new media and da'wah approach. Data was obtained by online observation of da’wah social media that featured or involved several da’wah figures in Indonesia.Result - This study found that testing the 5 Cs (Communication, Collaboration, Community, Creativity, and Convergence) that characterize new media shows a different form of da'wah in new media from the construct of da'wah in the conventional era. In the new media era, for example, da'wah is understood as open communication that allows the preacher and the recipient to exchange messages simultaneously. In new media, da'wah is also a collaborative activity that allows everyone to collaborate to support a da'wah idea. New media-based da'wah is also characterized by the existence of various da'wah communities spread across multiple platforms, the creativity of various actual content that is by various issues developing in society, as well as the combination of numerous media which makes da'wah content in new media available completely, openly, and easily accessed.Implication - Academically, this study has implications for enriching preaching theories in the contemporary world, while practically, this study has implications for the importance of preachers in adapting to the dynamics produced by new media.Originality/Value - The originality of this research lies in its novelty, which focuses on changes in preaching due to new media that have received little attention from previous researchers.***Tujuan - Media baru telah mengubah praktik dakwah Islam. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji implikasi pertemuan agama dan media baru terhadap praktik dakwah kontemporer.Metode - Studi ini menggunakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan media baru dan dakwah. Data diperoleh melalui observasi online terhadap website dan media sosial dakwah yang menampilkan atau melibatkan beberapa tokoh dakwah di Indonesiat.Hasil - Studi ini menemukan bahwa pengujian 5 C (Communication, Collaboration, Community, Creativity, dan Convergence) yang menjadi ciri media baru menunjukkan adanya bentuk dakwah yang berbeda dalam new media dengan konstruk dakwah pada era konvensional. Di era media baru misalnya, dakwah dipahami sebagai komunikasi terbuka yang memungkinkan pendakwah dan penerimanya bertukar pesan secara simultan. Selain itu, dalam media baru, dakwah juga dipahami sebagai kegiatan kolaboratif yang memungkinkan semua orang bekerja sama untuk mendukung suatu gagasan dakwah. Dakwah berbasis media baru juga ditandai dengan adanya berbagai komunitas dakwah yang tersebar di berbagai platform, kreativitas berbagai konten aktual yang sesuai dengan berbagai isu yang berkembang di masyarakat, serta perpaduan berbagai media yang menjadikan dakwah di media baru bekerja dalam mode yang utuh, terbuka, dan mudah diaskses.Implikasi - Secara akademis studi ini berimplikasi pada pengayaan teori-teori dakwah dalam dunia kontemporer sedangkan secara praktis studi ini berimplikasi pada pentingnya pendakwah dalam beradaptasi dengan dinamika yang dihasilkan oleh media baru.Orisinalitas/Nilai - Keaslian penelitian ini terletak pada kebaruannya yang berfokus pada perubahan dakwah akibat media baru yang belum banyak mendapat perhatian dari peneliti sebelumnya.
