Abstract

This study examines the development of mental health management in Jakarta between the 1960s and 1970s. The discussion focuses on the question of how the process of expanding mental health services in Jakarta in the 1960s to 1970s took place. This is important because it has been in these years that awareness – both from the government and the private sector – emerged and developed rapidly in Jakarta. The majority of sources used in this paper are news in contemporary newspapers and magazines. Through this search, historical facts regarding the handling of mental health in Jakarta are collected and arranged chronologically.

Abstract

Public health service activities in the Dutch East Indies increased since the early 20th century. Non-governmental organizations have emerged as a new force in providing health services to natives. Two groups that fall into this category are missions and private companies. They were most mentioned for their contribution to public health services in Java. This article aims to look further at the background and form of the relationship between the two groups. The results of this study indicate that cooperation between missions and companies occurs because both are mutually beneficial. In terms of economic benefits and in spreading the influence of each party to society, especially the natives. The relationship between the two is manifested in the form of financial donations and participation in the implementation of new ideas for more effective and efficient health services.

Abstract

Under the New Order government, the control of agrarian resources by the state was a way to ensure development programs that increased the country's economic income. This control is legitimized by agrarian political policies, including management through Law no. 5 of 1967 concerning the Basic Provisions of Forestry. In North Tapanuli, expanding the state forest area as mandated by the Forestry Law is a new chapter in the struggle for land rights, and triggers the emergence of community resistance movements. This article will discuss the history of the agrarian movement in North Tapanuli in 1971-1979. People's resistance signifies the inaccuracy of rural communities in the development of the country.
