Direct Torque Control (DTC) is widely applied for ac motor drives as it offers high performance torque control with a simple control strategy. However, conventional DTC poses some disadvantages especially in term of variable switching frequency and large torque ripple due to the utilization of torque hysteresis controller. Other than that, performance of conventional DTC fed by two-level inverter is also restricted by the limited numbers of voltage vectors which lead to inappropriate selection of voltage vectors for different speed operations. This research aims to propose a Constant Switching Frequency (CSF) torque controller for DTC of induction motor (IM) fed by three-level Neutral-Point Clamped (NPC) inverter. The proposed torque controller utilizes PI controller which apply different gain for different speed operation. Besides, the utilization of NPC inverter provides greater number of voltage vectors which allow appropriate selection of voltage vectors for different operating condition. Using the proposed method, the improvement of DTC drives in term of producing a constant switching operation and minimizing torque ripple are achieved and validated via experimental results.

This paper presents the closed loop DC-DC flyback converter with multi-level cascaded H-bridge inverter (MCHI) for transformer-less static synchronous compensator (STATCOM) system. The STATCOM system is proposed to be controlled using decoupled dq vector control incorporating the new reactive current reference algorithm and multi-level selective harmonic elimination pulse width modulation (MSHEPWM) technique. This ensures transient performance enhancement as well as simpler control and modulation technique implementation for dynamic systems. As the proposed MSHEPWM solely depends on adjustable DC-link voltage levels, flyback converter is designed for that purpose to suit wider applications. In current work, a single phase five-levels CHI based STATCOM system incorporated with the aforementioned converters are presented to compensate the reactive power (VAR) at the point of common connection (PCC). The dynamic as well as the transient performances of the developed STATCOM control system and the proposed voltage closed loop control of each converter are investigated to meet different VAR demands at balanced loading conditions. Simulation studies are performed to verify the effectiveness and theoretical analysis of the approaches presented.

This paper presents the harmonic reduction performance of proportional resonant (PR) current controller in single phase inverter system connected to nonlinear load. In the study, proportional resonant current controller and low pass filter is discussed to eliminate low order harmonics injection in single phase inverter system. The potential of nonlinear load in producing harmonics is showed and identified by developing a nonlinear load model using a full bridge rectifier circuit. The modelling and simulation is done in MATLAB Simulink while harmonic spectrum results are obtained using Fast Fourier Transfor. End result show PR current controller capability to overcome the injection of current harmonic problems thus improved the overall total harmonic distortion (THD).

This paper addresses the irreversible permanent magnet (PM) demagnetization analysis of hybrid excitation flux switching motor (HEFSM) with outer-rotor configuration. PM demagnetization cause the PM strength used in the motor significantly reduces and hence contributes less torque performance. The study is focused on thermal analysis and conducted at various temperature up to as high as 180 degrees Celsius which has a tendency to be demagnetized. Therefore, PM demagnetization is among a critical issue and influences the choice of the applied motor. The analysis is carried out based on finite element method (FEM) and percentage of PM demagnetization is then calculated. Finally, based on simulated and calculated results the final design outer-rotor HEFSM has only 0.85 percent PM demagnetization at very high temperature and obviously the is no PM demagnetization at normal operating conditions.

This paper proposes a single-bit ADC system based Proportional and Integral (PI) controller to maintain a desired level of power transfer efficiency in Capacitive Power Transfer (CPT) systems. In this paper, a simple single-bit ADC system i.e., Single-Bit Modulator (SBM) is considered as an alternative to the commonly used multi-bit ADC systems. Unique features of employing SBM are 1) its ability to convert analog signals into single-bit signals and 2) its easy integrability in digital chips with linear variable differential transformers (LVDTs) such as FPGAs. A SBM based PI (SBM-PI) controller is designed to judicially interface with the single-bit output of SBM. The proposed (SBM-PI) controller guarantees less hardware resources, latency and regulates the output voltage to provide the desired power transfer efficiency. The behavior of SBM-PI controller is compared to that of a conventional multi-bit controller, with the results of both controllers being identical. The effectiveness of the proposed controller with SBM is further demonstrated using the experimental prototype of CPT by implementing a SBM-PI controller using $16$ MHz ATmega8 microcontroller. The experimental results from a laboratory prototype illustrate that SBM-PI controller successfully regulates the output voltage of CPT to control the power flow.

Power Quality development using PV based boost cascaded inverter system is one of the reliable methods. This paper handle with modeling and fuzzy logic control of boost to boost cascaded three phase inverter system with PV as source. MATLAB simulink model for BBCIS has been developed using the elements of simulink and cascaded loop investigations are performed with PI and Fuzzy Logic Controllers. The dynamic responses of the above systems are compared in terms of time domain parameters. The consequences point to that maximum power is obtained with minimum THD using FLC.

In this paper, a new single-phase bridge inverter is described which can generate a more steps of voltage levels with reduced number of switches, gate driver circuits and diodes as compare to normal multilevel inverter. Another feature of this inverter is its ability to prodeuce the voltages from a single dc-link power supply which enables back-to-back operation of converter. The proposed method with more number of levels can improve power quality, lower switching losses and produce high quality voltage waveforms. Moreover at all load power factors the proposed method can be operated. The research of the model is done by means of computer simulation with the software MATLAB/SIMULINK. This topology has very low common mode voltage variation and dv/dt stress. Also this inverter is help full for reactive power compensation.

This paper deal with the problem in speed controller for Indirect Field Oriented Control of Induction Motor. The problem cause decrease performance of Induction Motor where it widely used in high-performance applications. In order decrease the fault of speed induction motor, Takagi-Sugeno type Fuzzy logic control is used as the speed controller. For this, a model of indirect field oriented control of induction motor is built and simulating using MATLAB simulink. Secondly, error of speed and derivative error as the input and change of torque command as the output for speed control is applied in simulation. Lastly, from the simulation result overshoot is zero persent, rise time is 0.4s and settling time is 0.4s. The important data is steady state error is 0.01 percent show that the speed can follow reference speed. From that simulation result illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.
