Energy routers (ER) are the key equipment of the energy internet that provides control over bidirectional power flows and the voltage level of an electric network. The paper presents the thyristor-powered ER (TER) for an Internet-style medium voltage distribution electric network (6, 10, 20 kV). The developed scheme of the device implements longitudinal and transverse voltage regulation at the ER connection point and it allows changing the power flow and the voltage level in the network. The article is devoted to the study of the harmonic components of voltage introduced into the electrical network by the semiconductor elements of the TER. A mathematical and a computer model and a prototype of an electric network section with a TER have been developed. The studies carried out with the help of the developed models have shown that the device does not significantly distort sinusoidally. The harmonic components factor of the output voltage has acceptable values over the entire range of an effective regulation.

In this paper, a modified particle swarm optimization (MPSO) based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) controller is used to track the maximum power of a PV system using DC-DC boost converter technology. To raise the PV module's input DC voltage, a DC-DC boost converter was employed. The boost converter powered the DC-AC multilevel PWM inverter, which then delivered the output AC voltage to a solitary inductive load. Cascaded multilevel inverters are often used to condition power in renewable energy applications because they are easy to use and have few parts. Ripples in the voltage of DC link capacitors cause low order harmonics and inter harmonics in the multilevel inverter's output voltage. Phase disposition pulse width modulation (PDPWM) has the fewest harmonics. The inverter cells' power delivery is not equal in this manner. In the present paper, a strategy for improving sharing of power PDPWM for photovoltaic applications is proposed. The modified PDPWM is used on a 9-level inverter where each cell is connected to a PV array running at maximum power point tracking MPPT and under partial shadowing for single phase multilevel inverters. The MATLAB/SIMULINK software was used to do simulations, and the findings demonstrate that the method presented is effective at balancing the way power is shared between different inverter cells and reducing the voltage ripple of the DC link capacitor.

This paper presents an efficient interval type 2 fuzzy (IT2F) based on a single neuron proportional–integral–derivative (PID), also known as IT2FSNPID controller. The main purpose of the proposed control technique is to track the motion profile of the brushless DC (BLDC) motor. Also, a comparative study was investigated fuzzy type 1 (FT1) and IT2F. IT2F can treat the uncertainty and nonlinearity of the BLDC motor drive electric system in contrast to FT1. The parameters of each control technique were obtained using a new COVID-19 optimization algorithm according to an objective function. Moreover, several tests had been performed to ensure the ability of fuzzy type to absorb the system uncertainty and nonlinearity. All controllers were utilized to operate the BLDC motor sudden change in load and continuous load. The simulation results show that the IT2FSNPID can improve the dynamic response of linear and nonlinear of the same BLDC motor and accommodate the system uncertainty significantly.

Multilevel inverters have the benefit of producing high output voltage values with little distortion. This paper deals with decreasing total harmonic distortion (THD) and providing an output voltage with various step levels switching devices. In this study, a 27-level inverter with three asymmetric H-Bridge was designed and simulated based on level shift sinusoidal pulse-width modulation and phase shift sinusoidal pulse-width modulation methods. MATLAB/Simulink has been used to create this model and test it at different types of loads. The results showed that a multilevel inverter with (PS-PWM) produces less (THD) than a multilevel with (LS-PWM), when the resistive load was used, the produced voltage and current THD in (PS-PWM) and (LS-PWM) are 3.02% and 4.30% respectively, that has resulted from the linearity between voltage and current in the resistive load. While in the case of applying an inductive load, the THD in the voltage is constant in both (PS-PWM) and (LS-PWM) methods and has the same values as the THD in a resistive load. However, the THD in the current with inductive load decreased to 2.79% in (PS-PWM) and 4.04% in (LS-PWM). Finally, these results show that the performance of the proposed power circuit with PS-PWM is better than (LS-PWM).

With the increase in demand for solar power, a solar power forecasting model is of maximum importance to allow a higher level of integration of non-conventional energy into the existing electricity grid. With the advancement in data availability, there’s a good time to use data-driven algorithms for enhanced prediction of solar energy generation. Gathering and analyzing data can predict solar energy generation and mitigate the impact of solar intermittency. During this research, we explore automatically creating prediction models that are site-specific utilizing machine learning to generate solar radiation from meteorological station weather forecast reports, and from the predicted solar radiation corresponding solar power output can be calculated depending upon the characteristics of the solar PV system used. The challenge is to enhance the accuracy of the forecast. Ensemble techniques like random forest (RF) and extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) are well suited for solar radiation prediction as they improve stability as well as combine several machine learning models to reduce variation and bias which outperforms the majority of models, as a result making them a perfect model in the field of solar energy prediction.

The high incidence of three-phase asynchronous motors (TAM) in global energy consumption and its influence on the operation of electrical systems makes it necessary to develop models that allow their analysis effectively. Based on this, this paper presents a universal model of TAM based on the relationship between the active and reactive power of the TAM and the deviation of voltage and frequency. It can be applied to any general-purpose TAM and is very useful when representing these motors in electrical power system studies. The model parameters were obtained from a statistical analysis performed on 70 TAM of different classifications. The results are validated by comparing them with those obtained from the solution of the equivalent circuit, demonstrating its validity by less than 6% errors.

In AC/DC hybrid micro grid system (HMGS) power converters are always tested for is performance in distribution, its ability to provide accurate power sharing, transient stability and load dynamics. The existing control methods either complex or limited to achieve optimal power flow. This paper proposes a modified decentralized droop control scheme for interlinking converter (ILC) connected to interconnected AC and DC grids. A three coordinated model is proposed where AC frequency, ILC power and DC voltage are corresponding axis. The power sharing through the ILC is dependent on the AC frequency droop and DC voltage droop which occurs due to overloading. The control scheme is designed for single and three phases ILC. The obtained results are compared with double loop control method which shows less frequency deviations, accurate power sharing. The ILC performs autonomously and transfer power bidirectional under islanded mode. The simulation is carried in MATLAB/Simulink.

This research paper presents the memoryless radial basis function neural network (RBFNN) dependent proportional integral (PI) controller for permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) drives. The proposed RBFNN is memoryless adaptation scheme since the algorithm neither use the past samples nor retain the previous adaptation direction and hence the observations are used only once. Firstly, mathematical model for PMSM drive is explained and then structure of RBFNN controller is formulated. RBFNN consists of single input, a hidden layer with five neurons, a single output layer that are used to track the speed of the machine. The Jacobian matrix obtained from RBFNN is used to adjust the gain of the speed and applied to PI controller. The performance of the PI based vector controller with and without RBFNN are compared through the simulation by using MATLAB/Simulink environment. The simulations show that the proposed RBFNN outperform the existing PI based control method and enhances the speed tracking of PMSM drives.

Maintaining speed with various jumps and changes in load torque is one of the main tasks of variable frequency drives (VFD). The article considers the operation of the VFD under the influence of periodic perturbations of variable frequency and amplitude. The dependence of the transient function of the VFD and the family of frequency characteristics associated with it on the frequency of the stator voltage and slip underlies the methodology for experimental studies of such drives. The traditional method is based on the response to harmonic stimulation and works well for a non-linear system. In the course of the work, it was found that the introduction of dynamic positive feedback (DPF) allows to compensate for disturbances of varying frequency and amplitude. Experiments with a sinusoidal change in the load torque have shown the effectiveness of introducing the DPF in front of conventional sensorless control systems (vector and scalar).

This paper proposes a simple way to design a proportional integral derivative proportional integral derivative (PID) controller for a DC-DC buck converter. This work concerns getting the formula to calculate Kp, Ki, and Kd parameters from a PID controller easily. The main advantage of this formula is that the tuning process of the KP, KI and KD parameters of the PID controller will be simplified just by entering the R, L, and C component values of the buck converter into the formula. The synthesis process of the formula is explained step by step. State space analysis is used to model the equations and transfer functions of the buck converter. The transfer function of the PID controller and buck converter was analyzed to obtain the Buck Converter system's closed loop transfer function. The formula for calculating the parameters KP, KI and KD of the PID controller is derived from the closed loop transfer function of the buck converter system. Numerical simulations are provided to confirm the effectiveness of the proposed PID controller. The performance of the buck converter controlled by the proposed PID controller was tested under various load conditions.
