Abstract

Stocks have the highest risk between other investment instruments, but with the right analysis, the high risk is proportional to the high return that can be obtained. Stock return analysis can be done using a basic approach, namely fundamental analysis and technical analysis. This study aims to examine the effect of the individual stock price index, past stock price, debt to equity ratio (DER), and net profit margin (NPM) in consumer goods industry companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2015-2018. This study uses multiple regression analysis models. The population of this study consisted of 60 companies, and the research sample consisted of 27 companies with 108 consumer goods industry companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2015-2018 periods. The results showed that individual stock price index, past stock price, DER, and NPM simultaneously have a significant effect on stock return. Partially individual stock price index and past stock prices have a significant effect on stock return. In contrast, DER and NPM have no significant effect on stock return in consumer goods industry companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in the 2015-2018 periods.

Abstract

Intent identification is one of the most critical components in conversational agent design. Conversational agent “is any dialogue system that not only conducts natural language processing but also responds automatically using human language.” (Conversational Agent, 2019). The crux of designing human-like conversational agent is to mimic how human understands another human and then responds “naturally”. The current study attempts to answer the fundamental question: how to model human processes of understanding another human? In order to answer that question, it starts from exploring some basic concepts relevant to intent identification from Conversation Analysis (CA). CA is a mature field that studies authentic human interaction. The basic concepts from CA are then synthesised into a model that potentially fit to existing framework and paradigm in conversational agent design, i.e. Natural Conversation Framework (NCF) and Intent-Entity-Context-Response (IECR) paradigm. Instead of using a made-up sentence, the model is then tested to an authentic conversational turn seksi sekali dirimu ‘you’re very sexy’. The test shows that the model is able to detect several possible intents contain in this authentic conversational turn. The model is also able to handle Conversational Indonesian and multi-modality. Considering the versatility of Conversation Analysis, in all likelihood the model will be able to handle any language and all kinds of modalities. Future study can be done to analyse more Conversational Indonesian data (to develop library of intent for Conversational Indonesian Language), as well as conversational data from different languages and conversational data containing diverse modalities.

The UTAUT model (unified theory of acceptance and use of technology) was applied to measure students’ argument on the multimodality use. The result indicated that there is a positive trend in the use of multimodality in the classroom. Learners have a desire to use the combination of image, audiovisual and digital technology. This study extends our understanding of what the learners need from digital technology development and a significant chance to develop on the multimodality which fit for the higher education level.

Abstract

The research products produced by tertiary institutions are intellectual property that benefits the community and provide an economic contribution. Even Universities are encouraged to increase their research products’ economic value because innovation considers successful when commercialized. Higher Education is direct to produce innovative products with high added value so that these products can be beneficial to the community and commercialized. However, not all innovation results are successful or can be commercialized, although, in principles, the commercialization of research products is no different from standard products’ commercialization. This paper outlines various efforts undertaken by universities/polytechnics in Indonesia to increase research output commercialization. The purpose of interviews is to determine how universities respond to the challenges of expanding the commercialization of their research output. The participants were the heads of research institutes and community service from twenty-one (21) tertiary institutions in Indonesia, consisting of nine (9) universities and twelve (12) polytechnics. The finding shows that only a few university and polytechnic have commercialized their research products; however, most higher education keeps doing their best to increase their capability to commercialize their research products. This study’s two implications are: 1) researchers need to involve “user” needs before developing a research proposal. 2) Management at the university needs to facilitate the commercialization of the academicians’ research products.

Abstract

For Indonesian people, the world of art is an integral part of life. Art has become their identity since the ancient time. It is because art and its products are born from the appreciation of everyday life. Art philosophy is inseparable from the meaning of daily life. The more a society produces art with high values and tastes, the more reflective capacity they have to explore life. This reflective ability has actually helped enliven the development era which has increasingly undergone fundamental changes (disruption) in all fields. Entering the era of industrial revolution 4.0, now the world of art and its meaning are slowly distorted. Revolution 4.0 dragged art into capitalism and ended in obscurity of identity. Gadamer's study of how to view art as a game, symbol and festival becomes an interruption to restore the meaning of art in its place. Gadamer's art criticism is also very relevant for Indonesian people. This criticism is an opportunity for Indonesians to reinterpret the spirit of art in them. Understanding art means immersing in one’s self-identity as a true Indonesian to become more authentic.
