Abstract

Writing is an important skill in English. If the students are good in writing, they will be good in having interactions with other people. There are some problems faced by SHS students in learning writing. The problems are related to the teachers who are not creative in teaching writing. Pro Writing Aid is expected to solve the problems. Using pro writing aid in teaching writing could make the learning process become more interesting. The Web is easy to use, and it will help teachers in explaining the materials to the students. Through pro writing aid, teachers can teach students about writing effectively, and the students can learn by themselves to gain the information.

Abstract

Teaching speaking using a video project is one of the activities that can engage students actively in learning English. The procedure of teaching speaking in this paper is based on project based learning, which is one of the learning models in curriculum 2013. The project is a reflection of students' understanding of speaking materials that have been taught. So, students create a video that contains a speaking performance they had designed themselves.The paper apply the teaching on High School students, specifically on the first grade of Senior High School. Students make the video projects in every end of the material. Before starting the video project, teacher explain the material as usual. After the material explanation, teacher commands students to design a speaking activity, then record and upload it to the internet. Here, students make the video project with their peers. They discuss which performance suited for the related topic. Then, students perform their project, record, edit, and then publish the video to the internet. The video is then shared by the students to social media.After uploading the video, teacher and students give feedback through like and comment. By working with groups, the students are hoped to gain confidence to speak bravely in front of the public.

Abstract

This article aimed to describe the use of word mapping technique in teaching speaking for Tour and Travel Department Students of Vocational High School. Word mapping is a technique in teaching speaking that can engage students to speak intensively and to share their ideas in a fun way. This technique can be done by group and individual. Word Mapping is a technique that can motivate the students to share their ideas and speak in the teaching and learning process in describing tourism object and tourism destination. Word Mapping is a suitable technique that can be used in teaching speaking to tour and travel department students in vocational high school. It is an important technique that improves the way to record information, supports ideas, and enhances creative problem solving as they hold information in a format that the students’ mind finds easy to remember and quick to review. It makes easier for the students to share their ideas in speaking. Therefore, students will more active in teaching and learning process and give the good response to the material and topic that is taught by the teacher.

Abstract

Makalah ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana cara pengajaran vocabulary kepada siswa Sekolah Dasar (young learner) dengan menggunakan Jeopardy Game. Jeopardy game adalah game yang bisa dimainkan didalam kelas secara berkelompok. Guru akan membagi siswa menjadi beberapa kelompok. Dalam permainan Jeopardy game, siswa akan diberikan pertanyaan berdasarkan jenis vocabulary yang mereka pilih. Siswa tidak dibenarkan menggunakan kamus untuk menemukan jawaban dari masing-masing pertanyaan. Siswa hanya boleh berdiskusi dengan anggota kelompok tentang vocabulary yang diberikan guru. Kelompok yang mendapatkan nilai tertinggi adalah pemenang dan akan diberi hadiah oleh guru. Selain menyenangkan, jeopardy game juga dapat meningkatkan perkembangan kognitif dan kemampuan memori siswa. Dan juga memberikan motivasi siswa untuk bersaing mendapatkan nilai taerbaik
