Abstract

Sinusitis is a disease that occurs in the sinus area. The sinuses are air cavities that are in the area of the face connected to the nose. The function of the sinus cavity itself is to keep the nose moist and maintain air exchange in the nasal area. The research design used in this study is descriptive quantitative in nature aiming to determine the mother's level of knowledge about sinusitis. Sampling was carried out using "purposive sampling", which is a sampling technique based on certain considerations made by the researchers themselves, based on previously known characteristics or characteristics of the population. So that the sample in this study amounted to 60 respondents. And the samples taken are samples that have criteria, namely mothers who have children, mothers aged 27-40 years and mothers who are willing to be respondents. From the research results it is known that based on age, knowledge is generally sufficient, this is because respondents received counseling from health workers by 40 (80%), while 20 people (20%) were not good. In this case, people who experience or suffer from this disease will understand more about sinusitis. Based on education that 26 people (43.3%) have good knowledge, 29 people (48.33%) have sufficient knowledge and 5 people have less knowledge (8.33%). Based on work, it is known that there are 6 mothers (10%) who have good knowledge, 19 people (31.66%) have sufficient knowledge and 35 people (58.3%) lack knowledge. Based on information sources, there are 9 mothers who have good knowledge (15.00). %), enough for 17 people (28.33%) and less for 34 people (56.67%). Mother's level of knowledge about sinusitis in Dusun VII Sei Mencirim Village, Kutalimbaru District as a whole, there were 43 respondents who had sufficient knowledge (71.67%) and who had less knowledge, there were 17 people (28.33%). This is because health workers do not conduct counseling in every family and they are reluctant to work directly in the community.

Abstract

The quality of education is increasing along with technological developments, one of which is nursing education which is experiencing rapid changes. Nursing students must have the ability to think critically to integrate various sources of knowledge in order to solve problems creatively and logically. Nursing education requires learning methods that enable students to actively address various nursing problems that arise in clinical practice. Flipped learning or reverse learning is a learning model that requires lecturers to transfer lectures directly from the classroom to individual study rooms (at home) with the help of technology. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effectiveness of applying the flipped learning method to the critical thinking skills of nursing students. Type of quantitative research with a quasi-experimental design with a non-equivalent control group pre-test post-test approach. The sampling technique used was consecutive sampling, namely all students in class A and B in the third semester of the Bachelor of Nursing Study Program. This research started from the preparation stage by preparing flipped learning model materials in the form of modules, power points and videos as well as preparing instruments on the Critical Thinking Disposition Self-Rating Form (CTDSRF) to measure critical thinking skills. Data analysis used paired t-test and t-test for independent groups to determine the effectiveness of the flipped learning method on critical thinking skills of nursing students. The results of both the intervention and control group studies were 0.001 ˂ 0.05, which means that the application of the flipped learning method was able to improve critical thinking skills. Flipped learning is more effective in improving the critical thinking skills of nursing students compared to conventional learning, where the lecturer makes materials in the form of narratives, power points and videos. Flipped Learning is one of the selected learning models as a feasible learning model to apply.

Abstract

Elderly is a phase of decreased intellectual and physical abilities, which begins with several changes in life, a period when the organism has reached maturity in size and function and has also shown decline over time. Independence is freedom to act, not dependent to other people, not affected by other people and free to regulate oneself or one's activities both individually and in groups from various health or disease. Independent is also said to care for oneself and can carry out activities of daily life (AKS). ACC is divided into 2, namely: standard ACC and instrumental ACC. Standard AKS includes self-care skills such as eating, dressing, defecating/urinating, and bathing. Meanwhile, instrumental AKS includes complex activities such as cooking, washing, using the telephone, and using money. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of activity independence of the elderly at UPT. Binjai Elderly Social Service. Which includes activities of daily life in the elderly, the method used is a type of "descriptive qualitative" which describes the actual situation with a sample of 31 people by means of sampling "total sampling", namely determining the sample by taking the entire population. The results of this observation indicate that the majority of elderly who are independent are (61.01%), and dependent elderly are as much as (38.98%).
