Abstract

Collection development policy paper periodicals in the Library of the Faculty of Humanities, University of Andalas which discusses the applicability and constraints as seen from the collection development process starting from the requirements analysis process, the selection policy, selection, procurement, weeding and evaluation. This study is a qualitative study using descriptive research method. Data collection techniques used in this study is observation and interviews. Informants in this study is an expert associate librarian at the Library of the Faculty of Humanities. The results of this study showed that the Faculty of Cultural Sciences Library does not yet have a collection development policy periodicals written. This led to the development of the collection can be summed up by a bad run. Collection development process is also carried out without regard to the needs of library users. Abstract

Abstract This research studies about to create a  pathfinder (service library) service in library Andalas University. The purpose is to describe the process of making pathfinders (service library) in the library of Andalas University. This research has been done by a descriptive method by visiting directly to Andalas University library to observe and do some interview.  After the datum are analyzed, the conclusion explains some steps of creating pathfinder (service library) service in library Andalas University: (1) to conduct the observations and interviews; (2) to shoot  a service workflow; (3) to  design the service pathfinder products; (4) to arrange the service pathfinder. Keywords: create, Pathfinder, Library Service, library  of Andalas University

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to describe: (1) The information required by the District IV Jurai South Coastal District, (2) inhibiting factors that affect the public in obtaining information, (3) the efforts made to obtain the information. The data source of this study is that oral sources told directly by informants as the original speakers. Data were collected through observation and interviews with the District IV Jurai South Coastal District. Analyzing the data be descriptive, outlining the findings or research data in accordance with the activities undertaken during Field Work Practice in the Office of Libraries, Archives and Documentation South Coastal District. Abstract

The steps - steps in the manufacture of information system of borrowing and returning books at the Library SMK Kosgoro 1 Solok with Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 are as follows: First, designing procedures or groove of the new system to be created; Second, create a new project in Microsoft Visual Basic 2010; Third, create a form that consists of the main menu, login form, the form members, form books, borrowing books form, and form the return of books; Fourth, fill in the code on each button on each form and then save the project and run it. From the results of the manufacturing information system of borrowing and returning books by using Microsoft Visual Basic 2010 is expected to address the weaknesses - weaknesses that often occurs in vocational Library Kosgoro 1 Solok and is expected to assist librarians in the process of borrowing and returning books quickly and is also expected to accelerate in the preparation of the loan and return books and automatically calculating the cost of delay. Abstract

The method used descriptive method with data collection through direct observation or observation. The observations were made by collecting and recording a collection of theses contained in the Library Faculty of Economic to Master of Manegement State Universtyof Padang. Based on direct observation number of theses in the library collections Master of Management Program In Economics Falkutas Negeri Padang is 89 Thesis.Based on the discussion can be concluded the stage of making an annotated bibliography of scientific works S2 is as follows: First, determination of the title to see: (a) see the library collection; (b) the need for the library collection by the user; (c) the information that is most in demand or a much-needed user, Second, the collection of library materials. Third, the selection of library materials, the selection aims to samples collected in accordance with the title or topic that has been set. Fourth, grouping or classification . Fifth, Manufacture of keywords, Manufacture of keywords generation aimed for users  directly see the information of  needed by looking at certain subjects that have been registered. Sixth, arrangins of index aims to facilitate users to refound the word or term contained in the bibliography. Seventh, typing bibliographies script by using the writing state of written Psycology Assosiation (APA).  Keyword: Descriptive, bibliography, observation

Abstract

AbstractThe writing of this paper about the use of library collections by students in the Sijunjung Regency Library and Archives Service aims to find out internal and external factors that influence students in utilizing library collections in the Sijunjung District library and Archives Office. This type of research used in this study is a descriptive study using a quantitative approach, data collection techniques through the distribution of questionnaires to students who visit the library at the Library and Archives Office questionnaire distribution is done accidentally (accidental sampling). Based on the data that is processed, it can be concluded that the use of library collections is influenced by internal factors in terms of user needs, namely the frequency of students visiting on average once a week (38.5%) where students use to read (50%), students say they are satisfied visit the library because they get the information needed (60%). In terms of user motives (88%) students said books in the library were very helpful for doing school work. In terms of user interest the average length of time to visit (26%) students answered 1/2 hour each time they visited. Utilization of library collections is influenced by external factors in terms of collection completeness (66%) students use collections by borrowing, (88%) students say they agree about completeness of collections in the library. In terms of the skills of librarians in serving users (58%) students said the actions of librarians directing the location of bookshelves to students who had difficulty finding books needed, (59.3%) students said the attitude of the librarian was friendly. In terms of the availability of information retrieval facilities, the way students look for collections (86%) said directly to books, (67%) students said that it was necessary to improve computer facilities to access the internet in the library.Keywords: Utilization, Library, Collection, Students

Abstract

In this papers discussed about utilization of Eprints Software in search collecting scientific work in library of Andalas University. The aims are for describe: (1)To know the utilization of Eprints Software to search collecting scientific work in library of Andalas University; (2)To know what are the problem in search utilization of Eprints Software to search collecting scientific work in library of Andalas University; (3)To know the effort to resolve the problem of utilization of Eprints Software to search collecting scientific work in library of Andalas University.The research methods used in this papers is descriptive. Data collected through observation and interview with librarian of Library Andalas University. Data analysis performed on librarian who use Eprints Software in technology and information. Library’s study use the book, journals, internet, and other literature which relate with Eprint Software.Based result of research, concluded the following things. Second, the problem of using Eprints Software: (1) Less socialization between library’s visitor and librarian; (2) It constrained for moving from CD ( Compact Disc) to Eprint Software, (3) There’s no sub-menu to search scientific works; (4) the scientific work which slided is not concistent and not accordance with established. Third, the effort of problem which have performed on using Eprints Software are; (1) Teach the library’s visitor to utilization eprints software with good and give the special training for librarian; (2) it order to reached needs information for library’s visitor, librarian should be establish cooperation (3) It’s to esier do searching, it will be better submenu added for search scientific work; (4) expected to librarian and information technology staff more carefully.Keywords: utilization; software; eprints

Abstract

This paper is to describe the way of making Index from final assignment of D4 students from 2013-2017 in theLibrary of State Polytechnic of Padang. Data was collected by direct observation in theLibrary of State Polytechnic of Padang. Data analysis is done descriptively. Based on the result of the discussion of making the title index of final assignment of D4 students in State Polytechnic of Padang can be concluded through several stages as follows: (1) initial observation of the document that is observing the documents to be indexed and make details about the document; (2) determine the main subject that is in making an index required determination of the main subject then in this paper which became the main subject in making this index is the title index of final assignment of D4 student from year 2013-2017 in State Polytechnic of Padang; (3) create a description of the index describing the subjects to be indexed; (4) the terms in which indexing should be included in accordance with the data obtained without altering it; (5) indexing languages using clear and precise language; (6) create a subject index that is divided from several parts, namely authorship writing and title determination; (7) and typing of the index and examination of the index that has been typed in order to avoid error.iKeyword : index, final assignment.

Abstract

AbstractThe perception of the students of SMA 1 Padang towards the library of SMAN 1 Padang. First, the knowledge or understanding of students of SMAN 1 Padang towards the library is quite good, as seen from the agreed response of the students of SMAN 1 Padang regarding the library on the 3rd floor and the library provides many collections. Second, students responses to the library of SMAN 1 Padang are still not good, it can be sen from students responding negatively to the ease in finding the book they are looking for, because students still get difficulties when looking for books in the library of SMAN 1 Padang. Third, the library assessment by students of SMAN 1 Padang is still not good. This can be seen from the assessment of students who feel uncomfortable being in the library because of the music in the room which disturbs the concentration of students while reading and not all students of SMAN 1 Padang consider the existence of a library as supporting their academic achievement.Keywords: perception, library, students
