Abstract

Mothers have an important role in the growth and development of babies and toddlers, especially mother's knowledge has an influence on the mindset and level of care to provide proper food intake for their children. Infants and toddlers are included in the nutrition-prone group in the community where the highest prevalence of malnutrition is in infants and toddlers. The prevalence rate in the West Java region for malnutrition is still above 14% and the stunting rate is still above the national rate, namely 31%. This research is descriptive-analytic with a cross-sectional design. Data collection was carried out using a questionnaire. The number of population and sample is 35 respondents. The conclusion of this research is that the parity variable is the most dominant variable or has a big influence on the knowledge of mothers about complementary foods so that mothers have been given the right information since pregnancy-related to exclusive breastfeeding and provision of complementary foods and can seek information using technology or device to be able to access information on the right complementary foods.

Abstract

Background; stroke is one of the leading causes of death and disability worldwide. The stroke itself ranks second after heart disease as a cause of death worldwide in 2013. The mortality, morbidity, and disability rates in stroke patients increase every year. Stroke is a syndrome characterized by rapidly developing clinical symptoms and signs in the form of focal or global brain functional disorders lasting more than 24 hours (unless there is surgical intervention or death), which is not caused by causes other than vascular causes. Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) still remains a disease that causes health issues in society. TB is a direct infectious lung disease caused by the TB germ (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) which is also known as acid-fast bacteria (AFB). A survey conducted by the World Health Organization (WHO) around the world states that up to there are 9,000,000 incidents of cases and 1.5 million people died from TB, therefor TB is ranked as the 10th highest cause of death in the world. Indonesia itself ranks two of the most TB cases in the world. This paper aims to determine the potential and effectiveness of Gotu kola leaf extract as an anti-tuberculosis in inhibiting the growth of Mycobacterium. This research method is to review the articles with the keywords tuberculosis, Gotu kola leaves, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, and anti-tuberculosis. The data show that giving Gotu kola leaf extract can significantly reduce the growth of Mycobacterium tuberculosis because Gotu kola leaves contain bioactive compounds that have anti-mycobacterial activity. The consumption of Gotu kola leaves together with TB medication is not dangerous and does not cause side effects, actually, Gotu kola leaves provide a hepatoprotective effect against the hepatotoxic effects caused by medication of TB. Gotu kola leaves also have the ability to increase the body's immune response because it is rich in antioxidants and can prevent lung tissue damage due to TB infection.

Abstract

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in the world and the two main risk factors for its development are aging and diet. Diet plays a decisive role in health maintenance and disease prevention. Meanwhile, olive oil is known to provide beneficial effects on hypertension and the prevention of cardiovascular disease with various important components in it. There are two types of olive oil depending on the production mechanism, namely extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) and refined olive oil (ROO). This literature study aimed to assess the association between olive oil intake and the risk of cardiovascular disease and the potential cardioprotective benefits of olive oil. Method. This research is a literature review involving 18 literature sources from 1 national journal and 17 international journals. Result. Several studies have significantly demonstrated the cardioprotective, antithrombotic, and anti-inflammatory properties of olive oil from both the major and minor components of olive oil. Conclusion. Consistent food intake with olive oil can provide a cardioprotective effect from various important components in it, as a prevention of cardiovascular disease.

Abstract

It is estimated that as much as 2-4% of the total middle-aged population suffer from sleep apnea, with a trend towards men compared to women. The long-term effects of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) include impaired cognitive function, insulin resistance, cardiovascular disease, and depression. Research on the relationship between vitamin D and OSA severity has become an important concern because vitamin D deficiency is also a common medical problem worldwide, and its prevalence is increasing with obesity, sedentary lifestyles, limited sun exposure, and aging. The purpose of this literature study was to determine the relationship between OSA and the presence of Vitamin D deficiency. The literature sources used in this literature study involved 17 libraries from 1 national journal and 16 international journals. Various studies have shown an association between vitamin D deficiency and OSA caused by complex pathogenetic mechanisms and influenced by several confounding factors. Patients with severe OSA are generally associated with vitamin D deficiency.

Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a disease that is often found in all parts of the world. OA often affects women or men, especially those who are elderly. It’s not uncommon for people with OA to complain the intensity of pain due to the disease. OA is a degenerative bone disease that is often associated with joint cartilage damage in patients. Although OA was originally referred to as a non-inflammatory joint disease, several studies have shown that OA can occur due to chronic inflammation that underlies the disease. Several studies have shown that the inflammatory cytokines IL-1β and TNF-α play an important role in the pathogenesis of OA. Untreated OA will lead to the patient’s disability. Nigella sativa or black cumin is a herbal plant that is often used as an anti-inflammatory drug for various diseases, including osteoarthritis. Nigella sativa produces thymoquinine compounds which can act as anti-inflammatory and anti-proliferative compounds in OA. The research method for this article is a literature review from books, various national and international journals in the period 2010 until 2020. The study results show that Nigella sativa potentially acts as an anti-inflammatory and pain reliever in OA patients.

Abstract

There are various ways to convey information about complementary feeding, including through the delivery of health education with counseling. Extension with the lecture method is the method most often carried out and is limited by time, however the WhatsApp media is a medium of communication that is used daily by many people in almost all countries. The messages sent can be in the form of written messages, images or sounds so that this media is very suitable to be used as a health education medium in order to increase public knowledge in general and especially to mothers about complementary breastfeeding. This study aims to determine the difference in the effectiveness of counseling on complementary foods using lectures and WhatsApp methods at the UPTD Puskesmas Sempaja Samarinda. This research method uses a Quasi-experimental plan with pretest-posttest control group design. This study was conducted on April 3 - 16 2020. The study population was mothers who had children aged 6 months to 2 years. The sample in this study were 66 respondents consisting of 33 intervention groups and 33 control groups. The results of statistical tests show that there are differences before and after giving intervention via WhatsApp with a p-value of 0,000. The conclusion in this study is that there is an increase in respondent knowledge after counseling, but in the intervention group there is a more significant increase in knowledge.
