Abstract

The research on factors that affecting the cultivation of salak pondoh (Salacca Zalaca) in order to increase the production of salak pondoh, it was found that intensive cultivation is needed. Salak cultivation includes fertilization, irrigation, weeding, pruning of salak plants, use of insect pollinators, human-assisted pollination, fruit care, pest control and deseases.Therefore the purpose of this research was to determine the cultivation activities of salak and factors that affected farmers in cultivation salak pondoh (salacca zalaca) plants in the village of Karang Jinawi, Sepaku district, Penajam Paser Utara district.In this reasearch, the data obtained are primary and secondary data. Where primary data is obtained through direct interviews with respondents, as many as 27 respondents. While for secondary data obtained from the Mulawarman University library and Faculty of Agriculture, Karang Jinawi village office, center of statistic institutions and agricultural technical service unit in sepaku district. And the measurement variable used in this research is land area, education, fertilizer, cultivation activities.This research using data analysis method called Cobbdouglas function which is transformed into a logarithmic form to obtain a multiple linear regression equation. From the reasearch results showed that the land area had a positive and significant effect on the cultivation of salak pondoh plants, with a significant value is 0.000 and a regression coefficient is 0.106. And for the variable length of education did not have a significant effect on the production of salak pondoh. Whereas the variable amount of fertilizer application has a positive and significant effect on the production of salak pondoh.

Abstract

Agricultural extension workers have work performance that should be increased. This illustrates that it is needed the increase of work motivation and performance of agricultural extension workers. This study aimed to analysis the work motivation and performance of agricultural extension workers in Berau Regency. The analysis was done descriptively. The work motivation of agricultural instructors could be assessed from work performance, recognition from others, responsibility, opportunities for advancement, salary/wages, and work relations. The performance of agricultural extension workers could be viewed from the preparation of agricultural extension, implementation of agricultural extension, evaluation and reporting.

Abstract

The woman farmer has a significant role in supporting the welfare of the management of farming and household businesses, but it was also related to the involvement of the wife who participates in helping her husband's income as head of the household. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of participation of women farmers in rice farming (Oryza sativa L.) rice fields in Tegal Anyar Hamlet, Loa Janan Ulu Village, Loa Janan District. This research was conducted from February to June 2021. The research location was in Tegal Anyar Hamlet, Loa Janan Subdistrict.Samples were taken using a purposive method with a total sample of 35 respondents. Data collected in this study are primary and secondary data. The data collection method is done by observation and direct interview with the respondent. Data analysis uses a Likert scale.The results showed that the participation of women farmers in rice farming (Oryza sativa L.) in Tegal Anyar Hamlet, Loajanan Ulu Village, Loa Janan District was included in the "Low" category. Farmer women only participate in the stages of planting and post-harvest activities.Based on the results of research and data processing and analysis, it was concluded that the participation of women farmers in the field of rice farming in Dusn Tegal Anyar Loa Janan Ulu Village Loajanan District only occurred in Planting and Post Harvesting so the participation rate was included in the "Low" category.

Abstract

Paddy is a food crop that is widely cultivated by farmers as farmers group members in Sari Nadi Village. This study aimed to determine the role of farmer group in improving the socio-economic status of lowland rice farmer before and after becoming member of farmers group. This research was conducted from March to August 2020 in Sari Nadi Village, Kota Bangun Regency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. Determination of the sample number used the proportional sampling method. The data were analyzed by using descriptive method. Farmers group plays a role in improving the socio-economic status of lowland rice farmer with a total score of 1,283 and an average of 33.76. The socio-economic status of farmer before becoming member of a farmers group was low and increase become high after becoming a member of a farmers group.

Abstract

Permodalan memiliki peran penting dalam usahatani. Namun, aksesibilitas petani terhadap  sumber modal  masih sangat terbatas dan kekurangan  biaya produksi menjadi  kendala.  Jembayan Dalam merupakan desa yang berada di sekitar perusahaan tambang. Tujuan penelitian untuk menganalisis karakteristik sosial ekonomi petani, ketersediaan modal, dan sumber modal usahatani padi sawah. Penelitian dilaksanakan April-Juli 2021 di Desa Jembayan Dalam, Kecamatan Loa Kulu, Kabupaten Kutai Kartanegara. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara acak sederhana dengan responden 34 orang petani. Metode analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif dan analisis Return on Investment (ROI). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa karakteristik sosial ekonomi petani adalah pendidikan 6 tahun, pengalaman berusahatani 17 tahun, pendapatan Rp5.885.450,52/ha/tahun, status kepemilikan lahan milik sendiri, rata-rata luas lahan 1,13 ha, persentase petani tidak menabung 91,18%. Kebutuhan modal usahatani padi sawah sebesar Rp9.339.385,91/ha/tahun. Ketersediaan modal  sebesar 62% dengan kekurangan sebesar Rp3.515.621,21/ha/tahun (38%). ROI sebesar 0,63, dimana 0,63<1. Artinya usahatani padi sawah tidak layak untuk diusahakan. Petani yang memiliki modal bersumber dari modal sendiri sebesar 70,59% dan modal pinjaman sebesar 29,41%. Modal pinjaman usahatani bersumber dari lembaga keuangan (17,65%), pinjaman non-bank (5,88%), dan tengkulak padi (5,88%). Implikasi penelitian ini adalah petani diharapkan mampu mengelola usahatani lebih baik, mengalokasikan pendapatannya kembali untuk usahatani dan lebih terbuka untuk mengakses informasi permodalan.

Abstract

Agricultural extension is the effort to improve the quality of agricultural human resources, especially farmers, which are one of the tasks of Agricultural Extension Worker (AEW). The purposes of this study were to determine the performance of AEW and farmers perception of the performance of AEW. This research was conducted in the work area of the Agricultural Extension Center (AEC) of Jempang, Jempang Subregency, West Kutai Regency, from May to July 2019. Sampling was carried out in two ways, at the AEW level used the census method, and at the farmers level used the simple random sampling method. This study collected data from interviews with 6 AEW and 44 farmers. Data were analyzed by using descriptive method. The research results showed that the AEW performance in the AEC work area of  Jempang was included in the high category (score of 49.3) and farmers perception of AEW performance was included in the positive category (score of 28.27).

Abstract

The purposes of this research  were to know the production cost, revenue, and profit of tempe production, the influence of soybean usage to tempe production level, total product, average product, and marginal product of production of banana  leaves wrapped tempe . The research was conducted from April to June 2016 in the Village of Loa Pari, Subregency of Tenggarong Seberang, Regency of Kutai Kartanegara. Sampling used  census method and data were collected by direct observation and interview to 20 respondents. The data were analyzed to calculate total cost, revenue, income, total product, average product, and marginal product. The results of this research showed the average production cost of IDR4,728,311.40 month-1, the average revenue of IDR11,100,000.00 month-1, and the average income of IDR6,371,688.60 month-1. The use of soybeans will affect tempe production. Total production of banana leaves  wrapped tempe was 22,200 packs month-1. The average production of banana leaves wrapped tempe was 733 packs days-1. The marginal production of banana leaves wrapped tempe was 25 packs kg-1.
