Abstract

This study aimed to know the role of farmer woman in socio economic family. The location of research was in the Suko Rejo, Lempake Urban Village, Samarinda City with a total of 25 respondents. Data were analyzed by method of descriptive. The results of this research showed that farmer woman in Suko Rejo, Lempake Urban Village, Samarinda City works as tailor, vegetable seller, opening food stalls at home, washing worker, farm labor, farmer, and as caregiver. Farmer woman gives contribution as family income and it increases family welfare. Factors cause farmer woman working such as the high of daily need, the small of husband income, the responsibility in household, and the use of free time.

Abstract

The level of income and household consumption reflects the welfare level of farmer household of lowland paddy. The purposes of this study were to know the income of lowland paddy farming, the income of farmer household, the consumption of farmer household, and the welfare level of farmer household. This study was conducted from April to June 2018 in Sindang Sari Urban Village, Sambutan Subcity. Data analysis was done to calculate of total cost, revenue, income, consumption, and welfare of farmer household of lowland paddy. The result of this study showed the average income of lowland paddy farming in Sindang Sari Urban Village, Sambutan Subcity was IDR10,674,523.81 ha-1 cropping season-1. The average income of farmer household in that the urban village was IDR28,623,380.95 year-1. The average household consumption of farmer household was IDR24,535,257.14 year-1. The average per capita income of lowland paddy farmer was IDR13,697,175.95 capita-1 year-1. Based on the welfare level of farmer household of lowland paddy was known if 85.71% respondents  above the poverty line and 14.29% below the poverty line.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the technical efficiency level of inputs utilization on corn farming. This research was conducted in Biatan Ilir Village, Biatan Subdistrict, Berau District, East Kalimantan Province. The sample number was 32 respondents determined by simple random sampling. Data is analyzed by using the frontier production function of Cobb-Douglas. The result of this research showed the average of corn yield in Bintan Ilir Village as many as 1,885.21 kg ha-1. The utilization of seed, fertilizer, insecticide, and labor simultaneous influence significantly on corn yield. However, only fertilizer and labor partially influence corn yield. It was only 9.37% respondents efficiently cultivated corn in term technical. Corn farming in Biatan Ilir Village  is in the stage of increasing return to scale.

Abstract

Corn plants are very well known by the people of Indonesia, even in some areas it is used as a staple food. One type of corn plants that people like is sweet corn. The aim of this study were to determine the income obtained by farmers in sweet corn farming. This research was conducted in Tani Aman Urban Village, Loa Janan Ilir Subcity, Samarinda City, with a total sample of 24 people. The data collected were primary and secondary data. The results of this study indicate that the amount of sweet corn farming income was IDR293,438,733.33 cropping season (cs)-1 with an average of IDR12,226,613.89 cs-1 respondent-1. The value of R/C ratio of 2.1 indicates that sweet corn farming is profitable to cultivate.

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to determine the patterns and forms of communications and attitude of farmers in agricultural extension. This research was conducted from May to July 2019 in Mugirejo Urban Village, Sungai Pinang Subcity, Samarinda City. The number of respondents was 34 farmers. The data analysis method used is descriptive analysis. The results of research showed that the pattern of communication between agricultural extension worker and farmers in agricultural extension in Mugirejo is in the moderate category with a score of 37.96 in terms of four indicators, namely intrapersonal, interpersonal, group, and mass indicators. The form of communication is included in the good category in terms of four indicators, namely the communication forms of face-to-face, media, verbal and non-verbal. The attitude of farmers in agricultural extension to the patterns and forms of communication is categorized as sufficient in terms of three indicators, namely conative, cognitive, and affective.

Abstract

Marketing is all activities related to the delivery of products or services from producer to consumer. Kepok banana is one of the most cultivated variety of banana because of the high of price and demand. The purposes of this research were to find out the marketing channel, marketing costs, margin, share, profit, and marketing efficiency of kepok banana. This research was conducted in Bumi Sejahtera Village, Kaliorang Subregency, East Kutai Regency from April to July 2020. The determination of banana farmer samples used simple random sampling with the number of respondents as many as 31 respondents and the determination of samples of marketing institutions used snowball sampling method with the number of respondents as many as 21 respondents. The results of research showed that there were 3 marketing channels of kepok banana namely levels channel of 2, 3, and 4. The marketing costs of 2, 3, and 4 channels were IDR1,441.35 comb-1; IDR1,521.53 comb-1; and IDR1,811.11 comb-1, respectively. The marketing margin of 2, 3, and 4 channels were IDR7,062.50 comb-1; IDR7,175.00 comb-1; and IDR7,500.00 comb-1, respectively. The marketing profit of 2, 3, and 4 channels were IDR5,651.20 comb-1; IDR5,653.47 comb-1; and IDR5,688.89 comb-1 , respectively. The marketing share of 2, 3, and 4 channels were 45.67%; 43.72%; and 42.31%, respectively. Marketing channels of kepok banana in Bumi Sejahtera Village are efficient because the efficiency value was < 50%.

Abstract

The success of agricultural efforts depends on the competency of farmers as primary organizers. Characteristics related to competencies such as farmer education level, farmer age, financing, and institutional participation. The purposes of this research were to identify the characteristics of ginger farmer and to analyze the feasibility of ginger farming in North Sumatera. This research used secondary data. Descriptive analysis was a method of analysis used in research. The results of identifying show that characteristics of ginger farmers in North Sumatera were as much as 61.76% being at the age of 25 to 54 years, 55.24% of ginger farmers completed education until junior level, 96.79% of ginger farmers financed their own farming activities, 95.06% of farmers sold their products to the collector merchants, and the involvement of farmers in agricultural institutions were very small. Revenue Cost Ratio (R/C Ratio) of ginger in North Sumatera is 1.97, meaning that each expenditure of IDR1,00 then the ginger farmer will get a receipt of IDR1.97. This shows that ginger farming is viable and beneficial to be cultivated. Maximizing agricultural extension role as one of the efforts to increase the income and welfare of ginger farmers in North Sumatera.

Abstract

Adoption of agricultural technology is one indicator of the success of extension activities. This study aimed to determine the level of adoption of wetland paddy farmers to Integrated Crop Management (ICM) technology from technical and non-technical aspects. This research was conducted from October to December 2019, in Jembayan Tengah Village, Loa Kulu Subregency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. The sampling method used simple random sampling. The number of samples was 38 wetland paddy farmers. The data analysis was done by using descriptive method. The research results showed the level of adoption of wetland paddy farmers to ICM technology from the technical aspect in the high category with an average score of 120.29 and from the non-technical aspects in the high category with an average score of 58.47. In general, the adoption rate of wetland paddy farmers towards PPT technology is in the high category with an average score of 178.76.

Abstract

Lowland paddy farming is one of income source of farmer besides others business. Income of lowland paddy farming is still low  therefore it is needed a strategy to increase income in order to increase farmer welfare. The purpose of this study was to determine strategy to increaseincome of lowland paddy farming. This research was conducted from February to April 2020 in Bukit Pariaman and Buana Jaya Villages, Tenggarong Seberang Subregency. Thedata were collected  primary and secondary data. The sampling method used purposive sampling method. Method of data analysis used the SWOT method. The result of this study indicates that aggressive strategy is needed toincrease income of lowland paddy farming in the research locations.

Abstract

Perception is a direct response of something. The process of a person knows things through his five senses. This study aimed to determine paddy farmers perceptions on the role of agricultural extension worker and Gapoktan in Bukit Raya Village, Tenggarong Seberang Subregency, Kutai Kartanegara Regency. This study collected primary data and secondary data. Sampling used purposive method and number of samples of 40 respondents. Data were analyzed by descriptive. The results of this study showed farmers perception on the role of field agriculture instructure has a total score of 3,551 and it is classified as good. While farmers perception on the role of Gapoktan has a total score of 1,706 and it is classified as good.
