Abstract

Relaying is one of the latest communication technologies developed for wireless networks like WiMAX, LTE Advanced and 5G Ultra Reliable Low Latency Communication (URLLC) networks to provide coverage extension as well as higher bitrates for cell edge users. Thus they are included in the design of next generation wireless communication systems to provide performance improvement in terms of coverage and capacity over their predecessors. Other promising features of this technology include easy to implement and reduction in deployment cost. The objective of this paper is to analyze both cooperative and non-cooperative relaying techniques in the Infinite Block length regime and findout the benefits of Relay implementation. A single Amplify and Forward (A&F) Relay is used for this purpose. Reduction in power requirement for Simple Relay is shown in comparison to the direct transmission, using experimental analysis with Matlab simulation. SER (Symbol error rate) is calculated at the receiver for no relay, simple Relay and Cooperative Relaying scenario to show the improvements of cooperative Relaying implementation. The performance enhancement of the Relay is then carried out using Particle Swam Optimization (PSO) optimization technique where allocation of power between Base station and Relay Node is effectively distributed for optimum performance.

Abstract

The main purpose of this research paper is to analyze the moodle data and identify the most influencing features to develop the predictive model. The research applies a wrapper-based feature selection method called Boruta for the selection of best predicting features. Data were collected from eighty-one students who were enrolled in the course called Human Computer Interaction (COMP341), offered by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kathmandu University, Nepal. Kathmandu University uses Moodle as an e-learning platform. The dataset contained eight features where Assignment.Click, Chat.Click, File.Click, Forum.Click, System.Click, Url.Click, and Wiki.Click was used as the independent features and Grade as the dependent feature. Five classification algorithms such as K Nearest Neighbour, Naïve Bayes, and Support Vector Machine (SVM), Random Forest, and CART decision tree were applied in the moodle data. The finding shows that SVM has the highest accuracy in comparison to other algorithms. It suggested that File.Click and System.Click was the most significant feature. This type of research helps in the early identification of students’ performance. The growing popularity of the teaching-learning process through an online learning system has attracted researchers to work in the field of Educational Data Mining (EDM). Varieties of data are generated through several online activities that can be analyzed to understand the student’s performance which helps in the overall teaching-learning process. Academicians especially course instructors who use e-learning platforms for the delivery of the course contents and the learners who use these platforms are highly benefited from this research.

Abstract

The main requirements in the design of wireless sensor network applications are to minimize energy consumption and maximize battery lifetime. Power is primarily consumed during wireless transmission and reception. Automatic repeat request (ARQ) and forward error correction (FEC) are the two basic methods to recover erroneous packets. As energy conservation is a major issue of concern in wireless sensor networks, repeat transmission because the error in the data received is not an option, and FEC would be preferred over ARQ. FEC is applied in situations where retransmissions are relatively costly or impossible. A successful data transmission means a higher energy saving and a long-life network. This paper presents a novel linear block forward error correction code for wireless sensor network applications called Low Complexity Parity Check (LCPC). The LCPC code offers lower encoding and decoding complexity than other types of codes. To validate the performance of the LCPC code, the proposed coding scheme was investigated at different values of data transmission with different types of modulations over Additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) and Rayleigh fading channels. The simulation results show that the proposed code outperforms the renowned LDPC (8, 4), (255,175), and (576, 288) codes.

Abstract

The recommender systems are increasingly being more inrested in many fields of the life, it is increasingly effective in finding information to suggest to users in big data systems. The multi-criteria recommender systems are alwaysresearched and improved to suit the diverse requirements of data and userpreferences today. The calculation to make a reasonable decision is required for the multi-criteria consulting system. Many operations have been applied todecision making. Most traditional recommender systems often use average calculations to calculate useful values used in decision making. In this paper, we offer a new approach to develope decision-making based on interaction andnon-interaction between criteria. In an information system, data always hasinteractive relationships that represent intrinsic values in the system. If we do not add these values to calculate decision-making, the decision making willnot be complete. We build a multi-criteria consulting model in both Item-based(compare and evaluate results with some existing models) and User-based(Compare decision making operations) with non-interactive and interactivedecisions. Experiments show that when using interactive values, the results aremuch better, contributing to improving the quality of the current multi-criteria consulting system.

Abstract

An essential solution is available in Multi-protocol label switching (MPLS), which solve the problems faced by present-day networks: speed, scalability, quality-of-service (QoS) management, and traffic engineering. This paper is an extension of work on Fuzzy based Packet Scheduling Algorithm (FPSA) combined with Packets Processing Algorithm (PPA) in an Internet Protocol/Multi-Protocol Label Switching (IP/MPLS) networks. This will make provision for an intelligent service to the Label Switched Path (LSP) in MPLS networks. Several research work have been proposed on the MPLS Traffic Engineering. However, it is still imperative to further research on the effect of bandwidth increment on the core network using different mechanisms such as the analytical model of MPLS, expert-based packet scheduling algorithm for MPLS QoS support. Since MPLS is not able to provide intelligent routing, it is necessary to propose an intelligent expert system of FPSA combined with PPA. And analytical model of packet forwarding in the MPLS network would be given to provide suitable solution to traffic congestion and reliable services. Furthermore, the network model created using Network Simulator (NS 2), which carries non-real time application such as File Transfer Protocol (FTP) with bandwidth variations. The results obtained from trace files are interpreted by AWK script and used for the further analysis.
