Abstract

This study elaborates theoretically several aspects capturing the influences of human capital to parent-child’s incomes. Based on Markov (chain) Model,  child’s income has relation to her or his parent’s. However, the relationship is ambiguous. There is unclear indication whether the better-off  will has rich children, or the worse-off parent will has poor child. To answer this problem, this paper uses two different intergenerational human investment models; these are Perfect Capital Market Model (but this model is rarely to apply in empirical study) and Imperfect Capital Market Model. The analysis indicates that someone’s income depends mainly on his/her human capital, which the latter variable depends partly on human investment of the parent for his/her child. Notwithstanding, the two models show contextually that there are several other variables influencing parent-child’s income relation. Those are parental altruism, child’s ability, level of economic development, economic development system, and policies relating to human development,  influencing to a parent-child human investment relation, and the magnitude of someone’s income. These have effects on differenambiguity of intergenerational income relation.   Keywords: human capital, distribution, income

Abstract

This study to investigate how the influence of production area and number of workers on coffee stripping production and how performance is seen in terms of economic efficiency and labor productivity levels with vulnerable time 2012-2017. This study uses a descriptive quantitative approach with panel data regression model. The findings of the study indicate that the production area and number of workers in the stripping, cleaning and sorting industries of coffee significantly affected the amount of coffee production in Indonesia. The efficiency values in the stripping, cleaning and sorting industries of coffee during 2012-2017 tends to be inefficient because the value of efficiency obtained is 0.26, which means that <1, while labor productivity in the stripping, cleaning, and coffee sorting industries  have the average value is 62.24 percent per year. The level of labor productivity is influenced by the increase and reduction in the number of workers followed by an increase and decrease in the value of output.

Abstract

Cocoa is one of the leading commodities from the plantation sub-sector in Indonesia. At the world level, Indonesia is the third-largest producer of cocoa beans after Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana (FAO, 2017). However, Indonesia still exports cocoa in the form of (raw) beans which results in the loss of added value and not developing the domestic cocoa industry. For this reason, the government issued No. 67/PMK.011/ 2010 concerning the imposition of Export Levy and Export Levy Tariffs to suppress the export of cocoa beans and then increase the competitiveness of processed cocoa exports. The purpose of this study was to determine the competitiveness performance of Indonesian processed cocoa to Germany and what factors influenced the export competitiveness in 1992-2017. This study uses secondary data from various sources that were analyzed using Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) and Error Correction Mechanism (ECM). The analysis shows that in the long run the variable exchange rate, world cocoa prices, and dummy export duty significantly affect competitiveness while in the short term, population variables and world cocoa prices significantly influence competitiveness.

Abstract

Travel cost approach is an approach already widely used and easiest to do the valuation of natural resources and environment, particularly for environmental services related to recreational activities.  The relationship between the cost of travel and number of visits is assumed to represent the demand for recreation.  This travel cost method to estimate the demand curve and calculate the consumer surplus to the conservation area. It seems like the demand curve, then the price represents the cost of travel (leisure) and the number of visits represents the quantity (recreation).  Such relations are obtained by developing a simple regression model that shows the influence of travel costs and demographic variables visitor to the number of visits.  Thus, the increase in travel costs (and tariffs) resulted in a decline the visit because it was considered too expensive.  Travel costs increased mainly because of the distance where the greater the distance between the place of residence it will be increasingly less demand for recreational areas. Keywords: travel cost, valuation, demand for recreation, consumer surplus, conservation area

Abstract

The purpose of study was to analyze the “Effect of Macroeconomic Condition and Bank Charastistics to Efficiency of Islamic Banking in Indonesia”. The main variable studied are economic growth (GGDP), Inflation (INFL), Capital Adequacy Ratio and CAR-Asset Size Ratio (RCSIZE), Financing to deposit Ratio (FDR), Non Performance Financing (NPF), and Operational Efficiency (BOPO) of the Islamic Banking industri. The data used are secondary data from Bank Indonesia (BI) and Biro Pusat Statistik (BPS) on basis Year 2000-2013. The method uses multiple regression analysis by Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) estimation. The finding sowed that the model of operational efficiency (BOPO) the determinan of macroeconomic condition and charastistic of Islamic Banking have real influace with the coefficient of determination is quite high at 69.2 percent. Several independent variable such as economic growth (GGDP), Inflation (INFL), and Non Performance Financing (NPF) has a significant influence on the level of α=0.05 on Operational efficiency (BOPO) Islamic Banking Industri. The other independent variables (RCSIZE, FDR) no significant affecting on the efficiency because the t test its each variables probability  less than 5 percenst.  Nevertheless, the RCSIZE have relationship the same direction on the movement of BOPO, while FDR had a direction opposite to the BOPO. Abstract

Exploitation of oil and gas has been done in the long time ago in South Sumatra. Last decade, many problems come up with decentralized responsibility to natural resources such as primary energy oil and gas between central and local government. Lack of community development activities was complained by native people because it could not generate local economic growth by multiplier effect. Empirically, many projects have already subsidied in some social activities, but those did not educate the native people surround the projects. It caused many enclaves facing dualism behaviour. In the decentralization era, the new paradigm emerge that many local governments want to share managing the production of primary energy sources, especially oil and gas. Meanwhile, the decline of production of oil and gas will cause future estimation of consumption and contribution to local budget. What’s happen in the future exploitation of primary energy of oil and gas to local economic development? Empirically, it’s still hope to support the main local budget by equalizing fund programs. The problem is how local economic growth by exploitating oil and gas resources without sacrificing the local sustainable development. Key Words: Impact, oil & gas energy, local economic
