Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Karakteristik Tokoh Kembar dalam Novel Fangirl Karya Rainbow Rowell Berdasarkan Teori Struktur Kepribadian Sigmund Freud”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendesripsikan karakteristik tokoh kembar dan membandingkan karakteristik tokoh kembar berdasarkan teori struktur kepribadian Sigmund Freud. Metode dan pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif deskriptif dan pendekatan psikologi sastra. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tokoh kembar memiliki persamaan dan perbedaan karakteristik. Persamaan karakteristik antara Cath dan Wren adalah karakteristik peduli dan keras kepala. Perbedaan karakteristik antara Cath dan Wren yaitu Cath menunjukkan karakteristik cemas, penakut, sulit memaafkan dan impulsif, sedangkan Wren menunjukkan karakteristik antusias, pemaaf dan bijaksana. Perbandingan karakteristik tokoh kembar berdasarkan teori struktur kepribadian Sigmund Freud diantaranya: (1) id Cath tergambar dalam karakteristik sulit memaafkan dan keras kepala. Id Wren tergambar dalam karakteristik keras kepala, (2) ego Cath tergambar dalam karakteristik cemas dan penakut. Ego Wren tergambar dalam karakteristik bijaksana, (3) superego Cath tergambar dalam karakteristik peduli dan impulsidf. Superego Wren tergambar dalam karakteristik peduli dan pemaaf. Kata Kunci : Karakteristik, Perbandingan, Teori Sigmund Freud

Abstract

Many social medias provide machine translation to help the users understand any caption made in another languages. But it is something gives inaccurate translation which makes the meaning is not delivered properly. The study aims to identify types of semantic errors in lexis made by Instagram Machine Translation found in the National Geographic Indonesia’s Instagram captions. Observation method and note taking technique is used in to collect the data from National Geographic Indonesia Instagram Account from May until October. This study used a descriptive qualitative method in analyzing types of semantic errors in lexis and applying the theory types of semantic errors in lexis by James (1998). The result shows that the confusion of sense relations in choosing a wrong synonym is mostly found in data source. This phenomenon occurred because Instagram Machine Translation literally translated the source language to the target language which have several synonyms and different meaning in each use without considering the overall context of the caption. Abstract

This study focused on identifying and analyzing the types of derivational suffixes forming noun in the Instagram caption of @bawabali_official, specifically on the posts shared from September until October 2021. The documentation method was applied in collecting the data for this study. Moreover, this study applied the qualitative-descriptive and quantitative methods in analyzing the data. The data found in this study were analyzed by adopting the theory proposed by Katamba (1994) as the main theory to answer the problem of this study. Additionally, this study also employed formal and informal methods to present the result and discussion. As the result, this study discovered 179 words containing derivational suffixes forming noun. There were 3 types of derivational suffixes forming noun discovered from the data source: 143 data (79,9%) of derivational suffixes deriving verb to noun (-age, -al, -ance, -ence, -ation, -ion, -ee, -er, -or, -ing, -ment, and -y), 26 data (14,5%) of adjective to noun (-dom, -ence, -ery, -ial, -ity, -ness, and -ship), and 10 data (5,6%) of noun to noun (-aire, -er, -ery, -ism, -ist, ­-ship and -y). Eventually, this study discovered that the most prominent type from these 3 types found from the data source was the derivational suffixes deriving verb to noun, which were found in 143 words (79,9%). Abstract

This qualitative research focuses on the discussion of multiculturalism which is essential to do because in the current digital era, people are increasingly active moving from one place to another. Consequently, more and more countries are inhabited by people from different kinds of ethnic groups, cultures, races, etc. and multicultural values are indeed necessary to be applied. As the issue of cultural diversity has been broadly discussed, it is also found in Disney animated films. This study applied the semiotic approach to analyze data in the forms of dialogs as well as scene images obtained from the observation of Disney animated films. The results of study suggested that multicultural values can refer to respect and peace which play an essential role in multicultural society. The study also revealed that the observed animated films could represent multiculturalism through the portraits of animated film characters, traditions and customs as well as philosophy from different cultures. Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the values ​​of feminism in the Charlie's Angel 2019 film and to show gender equality. In this study, the researcher used a qualitative method of John Fiske's semiotic analysis. The data sources in this study were obtained from several captures of dialogue and action in the Charlie's Angel film. The object studied is the value of feminism which is taken from several scenes and dialogues in the film. Feminism is an ideology to make people aware of the position of women who are low in society, and the desire to improve or change the situation, Hidayati, (2019). The results of this study indicate that women have a brave, strong attitude, able to do the same things as men, and this film also implies that women can fight against society's negative views on women's abilities. Women are also able to do what men do such as shooting, fighting, leading, and others, so it shows that women are equal to men. Keywords: Feminism, Gender equality, Film
