Abstract

This research was motivated by the number of farmers who work on minapadi system (paddy-fish integration farming system) in Epeesi Village, Basala Sub-District, South Konawe District in which the welfare level of the minapadi farmers community in the village is not yet known. The purpose of this study was to determine the welfare level of minapadi farmers in the region. The determination of the research area was carried out purposively with the consideration that the village was one of the villages that developed minapadi system in South Konawe District. This research was done in January-February 2020. The number of respondents was 36 households working on minapadi farming system. Data analysis was performed using the indicators from BKKBN and quantitative descriptive analysis technique with cross tables and percentage analysis. The results showed that the average minapadi farmers in Epeesi Village were in KS I with a percentage of 41.67%, so that the welfare level of minapadi farmers in Epeesi Village was still classified low. This is because the community of minapadi farmers has not met all indicators set by BKKBN namely basic needs, psychological needs, development needs, and self-esteem.

Data collection was carried out by means of surveys and focus group discussions (FGD). Data analysis using SWOT analysis. The results of the research found that the majority of sago processing technology was still traditional and semi-modern and 87.5% of the sago noodle product quality was not good. Efforts to organize the production space according to product hygienic sanitation standards and improve sago noodle product packaging technology are the right strategies to improve the quality of sago noodles. Therefore the policy of developing sago noodle downstream product technology is implemented by Building supporting facilities for the smooth running of the sago noodle business, such as providing clean and proper water facilities for processing sago noodles, Providing socialization, and improving the quality of human resources regarding quality and sago noodle packaging.

Abstract

SMEs are required to continue to make continuous improvements to increase productivity. One alternative that can be done is to re-layout the facilities and production areas. The main purpose of this research is to identify an increase in productivity with the proposed re-layout. Layout planning is carried out using the ARC (Activity Relations Chart) approach, the area requirements of each production facility, and the limitations of SMEs. From the results of the research conducted from January until March 2020, it is known that the proposed re-layout can improve material handling efficiency in Suka Nicky. Originally 219.75 meters which were taken in 148.5 minutes turned into 194.65 meters with a time of 117.5 minutes. With the decrease in distance and material handling time, the hope is that it can reduce the operational costs of SMEs.
