Abstract

This study aims to clarify the role of the Arabic language in Islamic Economy through a library research. It used descriptive approach combined with content analysis approach. Arabic is a compulsory language. When Islam expanded and came into contact with other civilizations, Arabic acted as a bridge of scholarship through the movement of translation. This movement got the right momentum, not only from the ulama, but also political and financial support from the umara, so the synergy of power and knowledge transformed into a powerful force in the development of Islamic science and civilization. Arabic in the future is predicted to play a more optimal role if Islamic educational institutions can synergize with power in establishing its role as a language of diplomacy, language of education, and language of communication in various fields especially in the Islamic economy field. Abstract

Reading is one of the four language skills that have an important role in daily life. The way and characteristics of asking questions (istifham) are influential in achieving the objective of reading comprehension of a text. The use of questions (istifham) also stimulates students to understand reading texts and foster their critical thinking. All Arabic teachers, especially those who teach reading skill, should understand and master a questioning strategy to ease comprehending the text. Hopefully, this study can be used as a confirmation of theory in the fact that there is a parallel line between the theory of istifham in the teaching of reading skill, and the process of understanding the passage. Keywords: Dharuraoh, adawat al-Istifham, Ta'lim Maharatul Qiraah.

Abstract

The controversy of non-Muslim leadership in the majority of Muslims is common. Historically, this issue has been long-standing and has always invited debates among experts from time to time. In response to this issue, the Ulamas split into two camps, some forbidden, but others permitted. The Indonesian state which in fact has a majority Muslim population often experience a collision related to the appointment of non-Muslim leaders. Essentially, leadership is a mandate that must be mandated to those who can afford it. Indonesian law guarantees all its citizens to emerge as both Muslim and non-Muslim leaders. Therefore, this paper attempts to analyze the appointment of non-Muslim leaders with a semantic approach to verses of the Qur'ân that textually prohibits Muslims (believers) to appoint non-Muslims as leaders because of the words waliy and auliyā'which textually has the meaning of "protector and leader". The semantic approach used in this paper refers to the basic and relational meaning so that it will feel more fair in interpreting the text. Key words: non-Muslim, waliy, auliyā’, semantic, al-Qur’ân.

Abstract

When Islam spread to the Arabian Peninsula, the Arabs were also scattered, communicating with non-Arabs and mixing with each other. As a result, a new generation emerged that could not preserve the authenticity of its language. Therefore, the Arabs became distorted from the authenticity of their language. The emergence of many of these irregularities led to the need to preserve the originality of the Arabic language, and Abu al-Aswad al-Duwali was the first who establish Arabic grammar on the orders of Caliph Ali ibn Abi Talib. After Abu al-Aswad al-Duwali, emerging famous grammars were divided into madrasa of Bashra and Kufa, each madrasa had characteristics and differences. The differences between these two madrasas is enormous and in many cases. The prominent difference is that the madrasa of Bashra is more stringent in Arabic grammar, while the madrasa of Kufa is looser.
