Abstract

In an effort to realize the concept of sustainable forest management, it is necessary to involve the community around the forest as the main actors who often interact with the forest. In this case, the concept in question is the concept of community participation. This study aims to determine the participation of forest communities in the existence of community forests. This research was conducted in Battang Village, West Wara District, Palopo City, South Sulawesi Province. Data was obtained directly through surveys and direct field observations, data collected through the observation method and semi-structured interviews were processed and clarified according to the research objectives and then analyzed using qualitative data analysis. The results obtained by community participation in community forestry are the lack of community participation which initially numbered 137 people, only 35 people left who were active due to contradictory plans and conditions in the field that triggered problems in the group.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to determine the value of the economic benefits of sugar palm plants utilized by the community. The research was conducted for 2 months, starting from September to October 2018. The preparatory phase was to determine the location of the study, namely in the Village of Ko'mara, Polongbangkeng District, North Takalar District. With the consideration that in the village there are many sugar palm plants. The next step is identification to see how many people manage palm sugar plants to produce processed palm products. Based on the results of identification obtained 12 respondents. Calculation of the economic value of sugar palm plants is done by calculating income based on market prices. The results showed that sugar palm plants had been processed into Brown Sugar, Kolang Kaling and Ijuk. The value of the economic benefits of the production of Red Sugar is Rp. 99,575,000 / year with a percentage of 69.40%, the production of Kolang-Kaling is Rp. 26,188,000 / year with a percentage of 18.25%, and the production of Ijuk is Rp. 17,700,000 / year with a percentage of 12.33%. The total value of the economic benefits of sugar palm plants is Rp. 143,463,000 / year.

Abstract

The ecological feasibility of sago plants is not strong enough to determine sago as a commodity that can be developed in the upstream area. The research objective was to assess the community's perception of the strategy for water of sago land management in Salu Paku sub-watershed, the upper part of Rongkong watershed. The research begins with the socialization of the rainfed sago land water management strategy. The research consisted of two stages (before socialization and after socialization). The results showed that before the socialization, 100% of the community understood that sago land did not need water management, but after socialization, the community understood that sago could be developed in dryland conditions if there was water management. The community previously understood that it was not important to regulate the number of plants in one clump, after receiving additional information, generally, they wanted to regulate the number of sago trees by maintaining two tillers, one weaning plant, and two tillers during the weaning period. phase, and in the tree phase raise one tree plus one wean and two chicks. The public perception of water conservation measures before the socialization was doubtful 100%, after the socialization, the perception increased 95% (willing to make terraces and dead-end trenches), and 5% were still in doubt. Public perception about the addition of organic fertilizer to sago land before the socialization was doubtful 100%, after the socialization, 95% of the people agreed to add organic fertilizer, although 5% still had doubts

Abstract

This study aims to measure the throughfall of Anthocepalus macrophyllu. The research was conducted in the experimental garden of SMK Neg 4 Luwu, Baramamase Village, Walenrang District, Luwu Regency. The materials used were 6 samples of Anthocephalus macrophyllus trees with a device consisting of a manual rainfall gauge, a hose, a collection bucket, a measuring cup, nails, machetes and a stopwatch. The data collected were rainfall and rainfall at 30 rain events. Of the 30 rainfall events, the throughfall data were selected for rainfall of 100, 150, 300, 400 and 500 cm3, each with 3 replications. Rainfall data is obtained by placing a manual rain gauge at the research location to measure every time it rains. Throughfall measurement is done by placing the collection bucket on the inside under the canopy. The highest average throughfall of 42.67 cm3 is found in the 500 cm3 rainfall with the regression equation y = 0.086x + 1.202 and determination (R2) = 0.8099. While the largest proportion of throughfall with a value of 13.05% occurs in 300 cm3 of rainfall, the regression equation y = 0.0022x + 8.186 and determination (R²) = 0.0247
