Abstract

This study explores the impact of minimum wages on the wages of construction workers in the informal sector. Using cross-sectional data consisting of 717 samples from 62 construction projects in 24 provinces in Indonesia, we uncover that the variation of construction worker wages across provinces follows the variation of minimum wages. On the demand variables, the magnitude of GDP and workers productivity in a province is not related to construction workers' earnings. While, on the supply side, the level of formality in a province shows a positive relation to construction workers' wages. In addition, the result also supports the previous literature that the nature of construction workers is moving from one project to another across cities as part-time workers. Lastly, another finding is that the base of estimation price in public procurement for the wage of construction workers is market wage.

Abstract

AbstractThis study aims to determine the contribution of zakat and economic growth in increasing fiscal independence in Aceh Province in 2015-2019. The study used secondary data, consisting of zakat realization, economic growth, and fiscal independence. It used multiple linear regression method and chose a random effects model approach (Random Effect). This study found that zakat and economic growth positively and significantly affect fiscal independence in Aceh Province in 2015-2019. Therefore, local governments can increase fiscal independence through socialization to the community to pay their zakat through Baitul Mal. This will increase own source revenue and increasing the fiscal capacity of Aceh in conducting development. Thus, local government should maintain the level of economic growth through increasing the production of goods and services in Aceh Province.

Abstract

Abstract.A massive expansion of education reduces the incidence of undereducation but on the other hand, can trigger overeducation in the job market. Educational achievements, cultural, political, and economic developments also shape the preferences and work ethic of a generation. This study analyzes intergenerational mismatch workers by comparing them at the same age point. Using Sakernas 2000-2015 data, this studysucceeded in capturing mismatched workers in the warrior generation, the old order generation, the new order generation, and the reform generation. This study use unadjusted odds ratio for descriptive analysis and multinominal logit for inference analysis. Multinomial logit findingsshow that the generation of the old order and the generation of fighters tend to have a higher mismatch in their work compared to the generation of the new order. The reformation generation has a lower tendency to mismatch than the new order generation. The difference in the proportion of mismatched workers between generations is getting smaller as they enter the age of 60 and over .
