Abstract

The Digital Rice Field Implementation plan in Banyuwangi Regency East Java is one of current breakthroughs to pursue food security in the area. This study is aimed at finding out the readiness of farmers in Persen Tegaldino area of Banyuwangi Regencyas the users of Digital Rice Field information. Data is collected by conducting a survey to 100 farmer respondents in Persen Tegaldino. The result of this study shows that Internet literacy among farmers in the area is extremely low, indicated by the finding that 82% of the farmers cannot use the Internet. Looking at this condition, it is suggested that the government run courses and trainings for farmers in the area to use the Internet.

Abstract

The development of technology in a society is unavoidable. One of the evidences of the development of information technology (IT) is the increasing use of social media in society. Social media facilitate people to convey their ideas, thoughts, information and to disseminate them to others without selection. However, one of the effects of social media is the uncontrollable spread of hoaxes in the midst of society. One of the tasks of librarians in the library activities is to select information sources or, in other words, to be the information gate keeper. In the broader context, the task of librarians is not only to select materials in the library but also to provide knowledge, understanding and skills to public in receiving, selecting and using good, correct and useful information. Therefore, information and media literacy and knowledge and skills in using information technology are prerequisites or must- have skills for today’s librarians.

Abstract

To support Perpres no. 87 of 2016, regarding the task force for sweeping illegal levies, the rector of Andalas University in 2017 had issued a system of payment of cashless at the Unand Library Unit. All fine payment transactions are paid through the rector's account which is deposited in Bank Nagari who is a partner of Unand. This study aims to evaluate the policy from the perspective of students as the main users of college library services. Data collection is done using a questionnaire that is distributed to users who have paid fines at the bank. Sample selection was done by purposive random sampling without distinguishing the class and level of study. The results showed that this policy turned out to cause new problems among users. Most students object to the system of paying non-cash fines. They considered this policy to be less effective and tended to harm students both in terms of time and cost, because the Bank Center was quite far from the library building. Actually the use of EDC machines is able to overcome these problems, but the ATM card of the bank that provides the EDC machine, in accordance with the holding account, among Unand students the percentage is still small (24%). To overcome the impact of the non-cash payment system the majority of students (50.65%) suggested returning the payment system at the book return counter, and 31.65% suggesting adding another bank's EDC machine.

Abstract

Terbitan berkala merupakan sumber informasi dan pengetahuan sangat penting bagi masyarakat yang berkecimpung baik dalam kegiatan bisnis maupun ilmu pengetahuan. Oleh karena itu, pengelolaan sumber informasi tersebut perlu dilakukan dengan sebaik-baiknya agar mudah dimanfaatkan. Contoh terbitan berkala yaitu di antaranya surat kabar, jurnal, majalah, buletin, tabloid, dan sebagainya. Terbitan berkala biasanya selalu ada pada setiap perpustakaan tak terkecuali di perpustakaan khusus, sebabnya terbitan berkala merupakan salah satu koleksi yang sering dicari dan dibaca oleh pemustaka. Tulisan ini merupakan pembahasan mengenai upaya pengelolaan layanan koleksi berkala berupa kliping surat kabar di Perpustakaan Mahkamah Agung. Berdasarkan observasi dan wawancara penulis dengan pihak Perpustakaan Mahkamah Agung diketahui bahwa lembaga pemerintah non kementerian (LPNK) yang terletak di jalan Medan Merdeka Utara Jakarta Pusat ini, dari tahun 2006 sampai dengan sekarang melakukan kegiatan mengkliping surat kabar baik secara tercetak maupun secara online. Berdasarkan observasi, wawancara dan studi kepustakaan, diketahui pula bahwa metode atau sistem yang digunakan untuk membuat kliping di Perpustakaan Mahkamah Agung adalah dengan metode evixe kemudian dicetak menjadi buku dan dengan alih media yang kemudian dilayankan secara online. Dengan adanya koleksi kliping di Perpustakaan Mahkamah Agung ini bisa menjadi penunjang yang sangat penting untuk kegiatan mencari referensi berita hukum serta penelitian kasus hukum bagi para hakim di Mahkamah Agung  maupun masyarakat umum lainnya.

Abstract

National development which culminates in the welfare of society must be supported by activities that can accelerate the socio-economic development. Socio-economic development and education and literacy development are, in fact, two interrelated variables and closely connected to improve the human life and community welfare. By accelerating the two developments, the government hopes to stop poverty. Library as an institution fostering literary community should face the challenge with improvements in order to quickly achieve the goal of the national development. Library should be able to focus its activities and programs on social inclusion-based services. The transformation of social inclusion-based library services is an approach by library focused on services committed to increasing the level of the community welfare.

Abstract

The low interest and reading habits of Indonesian children have become an issue which attracted the attention of many parties. Various attempts have been made, either through the provision of facilities and infrastructures as well as various activities that encourage the reading interest of the children. We realize that the interest and reading habits of children will not grow by itself. Rather, they need to be nurtured and developed. One effort to foster the interest is through storytelling activities. Through this activity, children are expected to be interested in reading books or reading materials whose stories have been presented in storytelling activities. In scientific activities, the topics of storytelling activities are often used as research materials. One theory which is often used as a theoretical framework is the narrative paradigm by Walter R Fisher. The basic assumption in the narrative paradigm explains that humans are essentially storytellers (homo narran). The application of Narrative Paradigm in research focusing on storytelling is considered fixed because it is able to explain elements in storytelling, such as the storyteller and elements of the story.

Abstract

Introduction. This study aims to develop prototype of mobile library application as recommendation model to be applied in college libraries to provide easiness and velocity of information access for users by smartphone. This study took case in Trisakti School of Management Library that uses SLiMS software as its library application.Data Collection Method. This research uses software engineering approach with protyping adopted from Laudon (2016), consist of indentify basic requirements, develop working prototype, use the prototype, revise and enchance the prototype.Analysis Data. Software engineering uses Android platform.Results and Discussions. The study results show that there are six main basic requirements of mobile library applications that can be implemented in TSM Library, including online catalog, library account, renew, borrow, reserve, and journal. By using prototype, users can perform 8 tasks, include login, view personal library account, renew, searching of books, borrow book, reserve book, cancel of reserve, and searching of journals. The final testing results show that all functions of prototype run well without error.Conclusions. This research has succeeded in developing prototype of mobile library application which can be used as a model that is suitable to be applied in college libraries, especially TSM Library.

Abstract

The publication process of National Journal of Marine Geology from the submission to the approval needs to be efficient to speed up the science transfer and new bibliometric indicators in Indonesia. This study aimed to determine the editing speed in Jurnal Geologi Kelautan (Journal of Marine Geology (JGK) and Bulletin of the Marine Geology (BMG) years 2009-2017. The data consisted of 219 articles from JGK and BMG online; recorded publications history, titles, authors, institutions, citations, and pages numbers. Straight counting method was applied to authors and their institutions. Gender analysis was also applied to identify the authors’ sex. Publication history was analyzed by using editing speed norm. Pearson correlation test (p 0.05) was utilized by using IBM SPSS. The editing duration of the two journals was 199.17 days on average. In this context, BMG was considered more efficient. Statistically, citation and editing speed had significant correlation (r = -0.147, p = 0.030). Efficient editing duration performed by collaborative and female writers. Based on the main contributors, the most efficient editor was 129 days. Not only is it useful for journal quality and publication speed, efficient editing duration will increase the authors’ trust toward JGK and BMG. Future researches should be conducted on other national journals in similar fields to provide further analysis or to compare the findings. Abstract

Di era digital ini informasi sangat berlimpah, menyebabkan orang harus mempunyai kemampuan literasi informasi. Penelitian  ini bertujuan ingin mengetahui faktor-faktor yang mempunyai korelasi dengan literasi informasi, dan seberapa kuat korelasinya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui penyebaran kuesioner kepada mahasiswa Program Sarjana, Program Magister dan Program Doktor. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa potensi kognitif mempunyai hubungan pada tingkat cukup dengan empat indikator literasi informasi, kecuali pada kemampuan mengerti isu etika dan legalitas mengakses dan menggunakan informasi tingkat hubungannya rendah. Potensi afektif mempunyai tingkat hubungan rendah dengan empat indikator literasi informasi, kecuali pada kemampuan menggunakan informasi untuk mencapai tujuan tingkat hubungannya cukup. Variabel keberhasilan mendapat informasi mempunyai hubungan paling rendah dengan indikator kemampuan mengevaluasi informasi dan sumber-sumbernya. Sedangkan indikator kecepatan dan kemudahan mendapat informasi mempunyai hubungan yang paling kuat dengan kemampuan menelusur informasi. Pada ketepatan mendapat informasi hubungan yang paling kuat terjadi dengan kemampuan menggunakan informasi untuk mencapai tujuan. Kemampuan menggunakan alat penelusuran informasi mempunyai hubungan pada tingkatan cukup dengan kerelevanan hasil penelusuran.

Abstract

The role of oral history in preserving the knowledge of Sukarno is very important to fulfil the lack of written sources. This paper is a conceptual paper and the application of recording the knowledge of Sukarno that focuses on Marhaen,as a figure, using oral  history  based  on  "Fundamentals  of Oral History Texas Preservations Guidelines". The findings showed that oral history is useful for saving and preserving knowledge about Sukarno, based on both the individual and society. Proklamator Bung Karno Library has started the oral history of Sukarno. It focused on the Marhaen as a figure. How great the name of Marhaen was until Sukarno used it as the name of an ideology. This oral history program is not easy, especially for a librarian. For that reason, one of ways that will be undertaken by the librarian is doing collaboration with other related professions, such as historians, sociologists or anthropologists. This collaboration, hopefully, can answer the difficulties. If this oral history is not conducted, the source of knowledge of Sukarno will be lost. By storing collections in the form of oral history, the librarians have given contribution to the preservation of intellectual resources.
