<![CDATA[The basic difference between a university library and a public library is on its membership basis; the university library is based on faculty and department, while the public library is based on institution. The Senayan Library Management System (SLiMS) application was originally designed for public libraries. Therefore, the membership database in its membership feature needs to be modified before being implemented in a university library. This study was conducted by modifying SLiMS 7 Cendana application in accordance with the needs of university libraries. Begin with membership base modification on membership feature. After that, experiments were conducted to observe its effect on other modules in application. The modules in SLiMS application are related to each other and supported by a relational database, hence this change had an impact on other modules, such as error messages that come up, incompatibility of column heading and data that not appear as requested. Therefore, to make SLiMS application suitable for the needs of universities, the modification must be done thoroughly, especially modules that relate to the membership module, such as circulation module, membership card, visitor counter and reporting.]]>

<![CDATA[This study sought to determine (1) the characteristics of the referenced literature, (2) the use of literature by authors based on their education levels, (3) the percentage of individual and group authorship based on authors’ education levels in articles published in Berkala Ilmu Perpustakaan dan Informasi (BIPI) during the period of 2011-2015. As a description quantitative study, data was collected through documentation method. Analysis units of this study were all articles published in the journal during the period. Data was analysed by using percentage formula and listed in frequency tables using MS Excel. Results showed that during the last five years BIPI has published 45 articles written by 48 authors. Book reference (79,19%) was higher than the journal reference (15,45%.) The use of articles written in Indonesian language was also higher than the the use of articles written in foreign languages. It was also found that the literature was 1-10 years old of novelty. There was no significant difference of the percentage of the cited reference type, the language of instruction, and the age of among authors based on their education levels. Both individual and group athorship showed no significant difference based on authors’ education levels.]]>

<![CDATA[Library staff is regulated under the Library Act number 43 of 2007, and in the standard of higher education library implementation. Managing the library staff is one of the elements in the library management process. Problems in this library staff management can disrupt the service and operation of the library. The need of library staff is to be planned by considering quantity and qualifications. In the previous study of Trijaya Nusamedia University Library (pseudonym), problems related to library staff were discussed. This raised a question about the availability of library staff in Trijaya Nusamedia University Library. This study was conducted to determine the ideal number of library staff (librarians and library technician staff) needed in Trijaya Nusamedia University Library by analyzing it using an adoption of Ranganathan 's formula based on the condition of the library. The results of the study showed that the number of library staff in Trijaya Nusamedia University Library was still not ideal.]]>

<![CDATA[This paper is an analytical study on trends of the development of international publications in Indonesian biodiversity research. The study is aimed at evaluating results of Indonesian biodiversity research included in papers that are published in Scopus indexed journals. The objectives of this study are as follows: (1) Finding out the number of international publications in biodiversity that are indexed in Scopus database during the period of 1995 to 2015 (2) Finding out international journals that publish papers on Indonesian biodiversity research (3) Finding out the productivity of researchers of Indonesian biodiversity (4) Finding out the productivity of institutions/affiliates that publish research papers on Indonesian biodiversity (5) Finding out trends of Indonesian biodiversity research development subject. Data used in this study is international publications in Indonesian biodiversity retrieved from Scopus (www.scopus.com). Data was collected in December 2015 by searching through Scopus database using keywords ‘biodiverse and Indonesia’ under the categories of article title, abstract, keyword within the period of 1995 to 2015. With this method, data on the number of annual international publications, journals that contains Indonesian biodiversity research papers, researchers, researchers’ affiliations and subjects were collected and analyzed by utilizing Microsoft Excel 2010. The analysis shows that publications of international papers on biodiversity development are found at the highest occurrence in 2015. Journal with the most papers on biodiversity research is the Biodiversity and Conservation. Most productive researcher in writing papers on biodiversity is Tscharntke, T. Institution/affiliate that publishes the most biodiversity papers is Universitat Gottingen. Country that has the most publications in Indonesian biodiversity is Indonesia. The most popular subject during the period of 1995 to 2015 is Agricultural and Biological Sciences.]]>

<![CDATA[The act No.14 of 2008 on Publict Information Openness is the government’s effort to organize and manage publict information more efficiently so that it is easy for the public to access information. Proffesional publict information management is an effort to develop information services for the publict. The library as a publict agency unit has duties to manage and to serve information request from the publict, as well as to cooperate with publict information services, PIO ( Publict Information Officer). The aim of the study was to find out the involvement of Ministry of Agriculture library in the management of publict information. This study was conducted from February to May 2018 using quantitative descriptive method data of 48 librarians / library staff as respondents. The variables observed include Respondent’s Involvement Level and Respondent’s Competency Level. The variables data were collected by survey method using Google from questionnare https://docs.google.com/forms distributed to each respondent throught Rank Sperman’s correlation test. The result show that half of the respondents were female with age 30-50 years old. Most of them were pustakawan ahli pertama (first expers librarian) who had 10 years of services and were mostly from Research Centre, Research Institute and AIAT (Assesment Institute for Agriculture Technology). Almost all libraries are involved in PIO activities. The involvment of the librarian / librari staffs to PIO at the level of knowledge, understanding and expertise was relatively high; but tended to be standard in behaviour. Based on spearmen’s correlation test, there is a significant correlation between the competence of librarian/library staff and the involvement in PIO. The role of PIO should be more developed through socialization, workshop and training of PIO in Ministryof Agriculture.]]>

<![CDATA[The research entitled Integration of SliMs Library of PPSOM Health Agency towards KINK (National Main Catalog of Health) Ministry of Health RI and Indonesia OneSearch aimed to know the process of integration of SliMs Library of PPSDM Health Agency to KINK Ministry of Health RI and Indonesia OneSearch, and to know the obstacles in the integration process of SliMs Library PPSOM Health Agency to KINK Ministry of Health RI and Indonesia OneSearch. The research used qualitative descriptive method. The data were collected by direct observation in the Library of PPSDM Health Agency, Ministry of Health RI. The integration process of SliMs Library of PPSDM Health Agency to KINK Kemenkes RI and Indonesia OneSearch begins with: 1) The process of data conversion from library information system. 2) Adjustment to table format in SUMS database based on Anglo American Catalouging Rules II (AACR II) standard. 3) Storage of adjustment of biblio table and items with excel format Comma Separated Values (CSV) type. Then the conversion process was performed by importing data into the SUMS database by utilizing import item feature and import data; the biblio table was stored in the import data while the item table was stored in the import items. 4) After the conversion process using import feature successfully done, then do recheck at SUMS. Examination can include some parts of the feature bibliographic list, item list and OPAC. 5) The final stage of the integration process was to store connecting devices on the SUMS server. 6) The integration process was successful and indexed in KINK and Indonesia OneSearch. While, the obstacles in the process of integration SliMs Library of PPSDM Health Agency to KINK Ministry of Health RI and Indonesia OneSearch include: 1) Incomplete initial database for data conversion, 2} Slow coordination between work units.]]>

<![CDATA[Libraries have an important role in supporting the achievement of the SDGS 2030 agenda through providing access to information and knowledge to the blind. This study aimed to examine the development, obstacles and challenges of digital libraries and the forms of collaboration that can be done for the development of digital libraries for the blind. This study used descriptive qualitative research methods. The results of this study show that Digital Library developed by Mitra Netra Foundation faces several obstacles, specifically the lack of collaboration with publishers to increase the number of e-pub titles, the technology illiteracy of the blind, the difficulty in translating formulas such as in matematics by using screen reader, the lack of meaning of the novel and poetry read by the machine due to intonation and emotion inaccuracy, and Mitra Netra Foundation limited budget to develop Digital Library. The challenges faced are how to improve the technology literacy of users and the blind, and increase the number of collections on the Digital Library page. To overcome these obstacle and challenges, public libraries, especially the national library an regional libraries may collaborate in providing tools to access Digital Library, conducting talking computer trainnings so that the blind become technology literate persons, promoting Digital Library and increasing the number of publications on the Digital Library page. In addition to public libraries, institutions or publishers can also collaboration in leading licenses / copyright by providing soft copises of their works to the foundations to be converted into e-pub forms so that they can be accessed by the blind.]]>

<![CDATA[The development of information technology causes information easily accessible, so the function of the library as a vehicle of information becomes less desirable and cause the interest of visitors to the library to be reduced. The library needs to do library promotion by utilizing information technology that is through video blogging (vlogging). The library promotion process through vlogging should be done with good concept and planning by the librarian. The purpose of library promotion through video blogging (vlogging) is to increase the interest of visitors to libraries, improve the library's image in the community, promote the existence of library science department, and introduce to the public that the work of the librarian is not just a book keeper.]]>

<![CDATA[Interpersonal communication is one of keys to success in reference services. This aspect of is required both in conventional and virtual reference services. Short Message Service (SMS) is a way of communication that can be used in virtual reference services. However, using SMS in virtual reference service is not common in Indonesian libraries. The National Library of Indonesia is the only library that use SMS in their reference services. This study is aimed at gaining in-depth knowledge about interpersonal communication aspect that is developed through SMS reference service of the National Library of Indonesia. Categories used in this study are facilitator and barrier relation aspects applied by Radford on the virtual reference service through live chat. The method used is a qualitative content analysis. This study shows that both facilitator and barrier relation aspects are found during the reference transactions. Therefore, it is found that interpersonal communication aspect is highly featured in virtual reference service. SMS can be an alternative for virtual reference service.]]>

<![CDATA[This study was held in October 2017 in the National library of Indonesia to stakeholders who had been invited to certain discussion meetings. The purposive random sampling technique by accidental sampling was applied in this study. The study aimed to determine the library user’s perception to the function of the National Library of Indonesia related to legistation. According to Law No.43/2007, the functions of the National Library are as the builder, referral, deposit, research, conversation, and network center library. The study sugessted that the respondent’s perception on the function of library as the bulider library becomes the most prominent item of its authority; while the function of library as the research library becomes the lowest item.]]>
