Abstract

Based on the background of the earlier studies accompanied by so many research problem and research gap where the result of previous studies indicate that there is an inconsistency, then the effects of corporate governance mechanism on the corporate financial performance still needs to be further researched.The current study uses a data sample of bank financial statements included in the United Arab Emirates bank stocks period 2009-2012. By using purposive sampling of data obtained as much as 88 financial statements of companies that are eligible to be used as samples in this study. The data in this study was obtained from the banks financial performance summary report from the website of the bank stocks United Arab Emirates (www.adx.ae and www.dfm.ae). The technique used to analyze the data is multiple regression techniques.The results of this study is that variables examined in the study are, board size, background of director’s education, number of board meeting, and proportion of independent board of bank ( simultaneously ) have an influence on the Bank's Financial Performance (Ratio ofOperating Expenses toOperating Income) Bank.

Abstract

This research comparation relationship manufacturing flexibility with firm performance between batik industries and furniture industries. The data was collected through a survey using a questionnaire with convinience sampling to 50 batik firms and 50 furniture firms in Solo - Indonesia. Response rate of 98 % for furniture fims and 100% for batik firms. This study applies partial least square to investigate the research model. The results showed that have different between effect of competences of manufacturing flexibility on capabilities of manufacturing flexibility in batik and mebel industries context. Capabilities of manufacturing flexibility measured by volume flexibility and mix flexibility. In batik industry context,  have significant effect of competences of manufacturing flexibility on volume flexibility and mix flexibility. While in furniture industry context, competences of manufacturing flexibility have significant effect on volume flexibility but no significant effect on mix flexibility. Relationship between capabilities of manufacturing flexibility and firm performance, both batik and furniture industries showed no significant relationship. Further research should be conducted on a large sample. Research can be conducted in wider area coverage so that results can be used for generalization. Further study also required added another independent variable to predict firm performance.

Abstract

The research aims to explore the condition of batik small medium enterprises in Sragen to improve the income and welfare of batik community, support the development of creative industry, and enhance the regional economy. The objectives of this study were: (1) to explore the potentials of batik industry in supporting the development of creative industry based on local wisdom, (2) to identify the opportunities to develop batik industry in Sragen. This research employed descriptive-qualitative approach. Data were collected using several methods including observation and interview. Data analysis techniques applied in this study consisted of interactive analysis (Miles & Huberman, 1984) and internal-external analysis. The results show that the raw materials used mostly by the batik industry are cotton (prima and primisima). Most of the raw materials are from Surakarta. Raw materials are purchased both in cash and credit. The proportion of cash and credit purchase are almost equally the same. Most of the batik small medium enterprises use chemical colouring substances to produce batik. Most of their products are handmade batik (batik tulis), printed batik, stamped batik, and combination between stamped and handmade. Most of the batik are produced manually. Most of the buyers demand cotton batik produced using combination technique and natural colour. Batik of 250 cm size are preferred.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of managerial factors, the environment of the intensity of strategic planning; examine the influence of organizational factors on the intensity of strategic planning; mnguji influence of organizational factors on the financial performance; examine the effect of the intensity of strategic planning to financial performance. To test this research used structural equation model (SEM) whereas the use of the most fundamental measure of the overall fit is Likelhood ratio chi-square (x2) using seven steps in this modeling. The population in this study is the manager BPR Central Java, sample taken 182 respondents. Results of this study show: first that the intensity level of strategic planning is not determined by the skills, confidence and experience in developing strategic planning manager. Both the intensity of strategic planning is also affected by organizational factors BPR which include size, structural and centralization, meaning that the larger the size businesses BPR with structural complexity are higher and the degree of centralization of authority given to the manager, the lower the intensity did the manager in preparing the strategic planning. Third the larger size BPR business with higher structural complexity and the degree of centralization of authority given to the manager, it will obtain the level of the higher financial performance shown by the profits, the level of ROE and petumbuhan deposits.

Abstract

This article focuses on Facebook Advertising and examine the effectiveness of the advertisements in enhancing customer’s purchasing intention in 2015. Five Construct of this article are Social Media Advertising, Brand Equity, Brand Image, Word of Mouth, and Purchase Intention. The investigation of this study can enable social media advertising to forecast the future  purchasing intention of customer.The statistical population included all undergraduate students will be the social media’s users in University of Indonesia. A conceptual model was developed and was tested using structural equation modeling and SPSS17.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of High Performance  Human Resource Management Practices, which consist of Empowerment, Job Rotation, Employee Participation, and Self Management Practices, which consist of Planning and Goal Setting, Access Management, Catch up Activities and Emotion Management in Employee Job Satisfaction. This research was conducted at Sahid Raya Hotel Yogyakarta.The respondent were permanent employees whom consist of 110 employee. Multiple linier regression analysis, which carried out with the help of the statistics program SPSS Windows Release 13.00, was used to analyze the data, the analysis result showed that job rotation, employee participation, planning and goal setting, access management, and emotion management positively and significantly influenced on employee job satisfaction. While empowerment and catch up Activities had no significant effect on employee job satisfaction. However, there was indirectly or small effect.Those emperical findings indicated that employee job satisfaction is important for the company, so Sahid Raya Hotel Yogyakarta needs to pay attention to the factors that can increase employee job satisfaction. Theoretical implications and suggestions for future research are also outlined at the end of the research
