Abstract

Unethical pro-organizational behavior is defined as conduct that is deemed to contravene ethical standards as defined by widely held values, laws, and social conventions rather than by group or organizational norms. However, the behavior is intended to benefit the organization, members of the organization, or both. Employees who intend to help the organization, its members, or both often engage in unethical pro-organizational behavior. This research aimed to identify, test, and develop a model of the factors that encourage people to engage in unethical pro-organizational behavior. These factors include identification with supervisors (IS), taking responsibility (TR), transformational leadership (TL), identification with the organization (IO), and moral courage (MC). The study employed a survey method, and the main respondents comprised the heads of the study programs at Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta. The results of the analysis employing the Smart-PLS demonstrated that identification with the organization and taking responsibility had significant effects on unethical pro-organizational behavior, while identification with supervisors did not significantly affect unethical pro-organizational behavior. Moral courage did not moderate (neither strengthen nor weaken) the effects of taking responsibility and identification with supervisor on unethical behavior. Then, transformational leadership had a significant effect on identification with the organization. Finally, identification with the organization mediated the effect of transformational leadership on unethical pro-organizational behavior.

Abstract

This study aims to prove that individual investors' psychology consisting of positive attitude, affective-self affinity, familiarity, trust, and nationalism affects investment decisions mediated by the extra motivation to invest. The data collected through questionnaires were processed and tested for the validity and reliability of the construct. Respondents in this study are individual investors who use psychological considerations as more motivation to make decisions and 404 questionnaires distributed to individual investors. This study uses Partial Least Square (PLS). It passes the fit and quality indices model criteria to determine the strength of this study's structural model before the hypothesis testing is carried out. We found four psychological variables of individual investors (positive attitude, familiarity, trust, and nationalism) that directly affect investment decisions and indirectly with the mediator of extra motivation to invest. Extra incentive to invest is not influenced by affective-self affinity and does not mediate its relationship with investment decisions. We also found that investors with psychological considerations tend to make biased decisions. Investors show behaviour that is overreaction, overconfidence, and risk tolerance (low risk with high return). JEL Classification: F52, G11, G41DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/jkdp.v24i4.4837

Abstract

This study aims to test the mediating role of satisfaction toward remuneration system on the effect of supervisor support on performance. This study is conducted to 298 people who work as academic staff and administrative staffs. The samples are selected using stratified random sampling. It is hypothesized that, 1) supervisor support affects the satisfaction toward remuneration system, 2) satisfaction toward remuneration system affects employee performance, 3) supervisor support affects employee performance, and 4) satisfaction toward remuneration system mediates the effect of supervisor support on employee performance. The result of regression analysis shows that supervisor support positively and significantly affects satisfaction toward remuneration system. Satisfaction toward remuneration system has positive and significant effect on performance, but supervisor support has no significant effect on performance. The testing on mediation effect shows that satisfaction toward remuneration system fully mediates the effect of supervisor support on employee performance.

Abstract

We investigate the impact of the presence of women in top management on bank performance controlling for bank specific factors, ownership and governance. By making use of sample of 70 Indonesian banks in a cross section study, we find strong evidence that the presence of women in the executives is negatively associated with firm performance. Moreover, we examine the moderating effect of TMT organizational tenure and TMT age. However, only little evidence is found in the effect of our moderating variables.

Abstract

Psychological safety, a critical concept in team performance and innovation, remains predominantly studied in developed nations, despite its under-explored relevance in developing countries characterized by rigid hierarchies, collectivist cultures, and socioeconomic disparities. This article analyzes the challenges and opportunities of fostering psychological safety in Indonesia, emphasizing unique dynamics such as paternalistic leadership, deliberative values (musyawarah), and the influence of Pancasila ideology. Through a literature review, critical research gaps are identified: integrating local wisdom, transforming authoritarian leadership systems, and the role of the informal sector. The study advocates for culturally adaptive approaches, empathic leadership training, and leveraging gotong royong (communal cooperation) as a foundation for psychological safety. Theoretical and practical recommendations aim to advance inclusive HR policies and further research in Indonesia, accounting for its sociocultural complexities.
