Abstract

This study aims: (1). To identify the main support system in the design of environment-based learning in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Makassar State University. (2). Knowing the use of environment-based learning resources in the Department of Biology, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Makassar State University. Through the Needs Assessment instrument in the form of field observations, questionnaire surveys, and interviews with lecturers and students identified problems to determine the right action for the next stage, so the design of learning to be carried out is the best solution. The results of the study are that (1). The Biology Department of UNM has two main locations or areas that strongly support environment-based learning with their respective characteristics. The two areas are the Biology Experiment Garden and the Field of Library Discussion of the Biology Department of FMIPA UNM. (2) Some courses have made use of environment-based learning resources in the Biology Department of FMIPA UNM. Solutions from the identification results obtained are among others; (1). The Department of Biology can be used as a place of learning, a source of learning, and as a learning media in the design of environment-based learning. (2). The Biology Department can be used as a comfortable and pleasant learning environment for the entire academic community. (3). The design of Environmental Based Learning in the Biology Department of UNM can be done in almost all subjects by increasing the role of the lecturer as a facilitator.

Abstract

Pulmonary TB patients in Indonesia are ranked fourth in the world after India, China, South Africa with a prevalence of 285 TB per 100,000 population or as many as 302,861 cases in 2010(Lienhardt dkk. 2012).This research is analytic observation, with case control design. Case control studies were conducted by identifying case groups and control groups. This study aims to determine the risk of physical condition of the house with the incidence of pulmonary TB in the working area of Pattingalloang Health Center, Makassar City. After conducting research, it can be concluded that; (1) There is the influence of the stage house fikik condition with the incidence of pulmonary TB with the risk of transmission 10 times from a healthy stage house. (2) There is an influence of fiksik conditions in semi-permanent homes with the incidence of pulmonary TB but not a significant risk factor. (3) There is an influence of the condition of permanent home fiksik conditions with the incidence of pulmonary TB with risk factors for transmission 6 times from a healthy permanent home..

Abstract

This study aims to find out (1) hand washing related to the worm incidence of Makassar elementary school students, (2) nail hygiene associated with the incidence of helminthiasis in Makassar city elementary school students, (3) the use of footwear related to the incidence of helminthiasis in Makassar elementary school students , (4) the factors most associated with the incidence of helminthiasis in students of the elementary school in Makassar. The method used was analytic observational and laboratory with cross sectional design. The location of the study was carried out at Barombong Elementary School in Makassar City. The analysis used was Chi square then continued with logistic regression. The results of this study indicate that (1) hand washing is related to the incidence of helminthiasis in students of the Barombong Elementary School in Makassar City with a value (p = 0.011), (2) Nail hygiene associated with the incidence of helminthiasis in Makassar Barombong Elementary School students with a value (p = 0.021), (3) The use of footwear is not related to the incidence of helminthiasis in students of Barombong Elementary School in Makassar City with a value (p = 0.362), (4) hand washing is the variable most associated with Exp value (B) = 8.554. This study suggests the need for counseling and providing information to students about the need for individual hygiene, and the dangers of worm disease to prevent worm disease.
