Abstract

This study examines efforts to optimize an integrative mindset of philosophy and Islamic values among students and lecturers in the Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy Study Program at the Faculty of Ushuluddin and Islamic Studies, UIN Sumatera Utara. Employing a mixed-methods design, the research combines a phenomenological qualitative approach to capture participants’ subjective perspectives and quantitative analysis using descriptive and inferential statistics on a stratified random sample of sixteen respondents. Data were gathered via semi-structured interviews, Likert-scale questionnaires, and classroom observations, then subjected to thematic analysis and triangulation for enhanced validity. Key findings reveal that students exhibit adaptive and creative thinking patterns, while lecturers adopt reflective and strategic mindsets. Both internal factors (motivation, belief systems, educational background) and external factors (curriculum design, teaching methods, academic environment) influence the development of an integrative mindset. Optimization strategies include strengthening literacy and open discussions, collaborative social projects, curriculum revision with contemporary case studies, and positioning lecturers as intellectual and spiritual facilitators. The study concludes that although critical and integrative thinking skills have emerged, challenges such as rote learning habits, limited discussion spaces, and personal hesitations remain and must be addressed through strategic interventions to harmonize reason and revelation in Islamic academic contexts.

Abstract

Islamic ethics has unique characteristics that distinguish it from other ethical systems, because it is rooted in divine revelation while also making room for the role of reason. Two key concepts that stand out in Islamic philosophy of ethics are morality and wisdom. Morality is understood as a system of values and behaviors that is based on the Qur'an and Sunnah, and reflects the normative and spiritual aspects of Islamic teachings. Morality emphasizes character formation that reflects faith through behaviors such as honesty, patience, and justice. On the other hand, wisdom, which literally means wisdom, is a form of rational and spiritual intelligence that allows individuals to apply moral values precisely, contextually, and proportionally. This paper aims to explore the philosophical relationship between morality and wisdom in the Islamic ethical system. Morality provides a fixed and universal moral direction, while wisdom provides flexibility in the application of these values in the midst of the complexities of real life. In the contemporary context, this blend is essential to form a Muslim personality who is not only spiritually devout, but also intelligent in attitude, adaptive to change, and able to navigate global ethical challenges. Thus, Islamic philosophy of ethics does not clash between revelation and reason, but instead integrates them in a balanced form of moral praxis. This study emphasizes that morality and wisdom are the two main pillars in building a just, civilized, and highly aware society of human values.

Abstract

Aqidah is something that is believed by someone. The meaning of Aqidah in language will be clearer if it is associated with a terminology understanding. Through education, a person gets information and knowledge. The higher a person's education, the more information and knowledge he gets. Aqidah education is the main aspect in educating students, because with a solid Aqidah, students will know that there is a power that controls it, namely Allah SWT. Thus, the teacher's role is very decisive in conveying Aqidah education to students. The problem in the research is to look carefully at how the teacher instills aqidah in students at SMA Negeri 2 Kampung Rakyat. Aqidah is a subject that instills the basis of faith in a person. Aqidah is a person's inner state which is the source of the birth of an action. Therefore, in establishing a relationship between human beings, it must be based on Aqidah. Aqidah learning aims to foster the faith and behavior development of each student, revealing the cultivation of aqidah to describe the identity of the student's aqidah learning. This research is focused on planting Aqidah in SMAN 2 Kampung Rakyat, Teluk Panji Plantation Village, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhan Batu Selatan Regency. which is an inhibiting and supporting factor in increasing motivation This research was carried out using a qualitative field research approach which was carried out at SMAN 2 Kampung Rakyat, Teuk Panji Plantation Village, Kampung Rakyat District, Labuhan Batu Selatan Regency. Data collection was carried out using interviews, observations and documentation. data analysis in this study by using descriptive analysis which includes: data presentation, data filtering, data classification and drawing conclusions. Testing the validity of the data obtained in this study aims to find out the description of the aqidah of students at SMA NEGERI 2 Kampung Rakyat and increase persistence or constancy of observation. The results showed that students had an understanding of aqidah learning that had been taught, because changes in student behavior or behavior were not only after learning aqidah but also caused by factors, including family, community and environmental factors where the student resided

Abstract

Divorce has a negative impact on the family, especially for children's development. Circumstances that occur after divorce affect the psychology and socio-religious life of children, in this case teenagers. Adolescence is a period full of mental turmoil, namely a period of transition or on a rocking bridge, which connects childhood which is full of dependency, with adulthood which is mature and independent. Along with the pace of development of the times, people's lives today are felt to be increasingly complex. The problems that arise are of course very varied, the type and nature of which range from personal problems related to association, lifestyle, to religious behavior which is closely related to individual beliefs, including adolescents. Teenagers are the next generation of the nation who are expected to be able to generate high integration in social life in society, while the personality of a teenager determines his social and religious behavior, both specifically in the family environment and in general in the community environment. In adolescence, they need a figure that they can make an example of, namely their parents. Thus, it is possible that the occurrence of divorce will affect the social and religious behavior of adolescents. Divorce that occurs in the community has an impact on children as victims in daily life. Based on the results of the research, children who are victims of divorce initially feel insecure when hanging out with friends in the neighborhood or at school. However, this situation will gradually change because children feel used to it and their friends can also understand it.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji secara mendalam doktrin Murji’ah yang memisahkan antara iman dan amal, serta implikasinya terhadap pembentukan akhlak umat Islam di era kontemporer. Aliran Murji’ah muncul dalam konteks konflik politik dan teologis awal Islam, dengan gagasan utama bahwa iman cukup diwujudkan melalui keyakinan dalam hati dan pengakuan secara lisan, tanpa menjadikan amal sebagai syarat keimanan. Doktrin ini pada awalnya dimaksudkan sebagai bentuk moderasi dan upaya menahan diri dari pengkafiran terhadap pelaku dosa besar, serta memberikan ruang bagi rahmat dan pengampunan Allah. Namun, dalam perkembangan selanjutnya, pemisahan antara iman dan amal ini menjadi dasar pemahaman permisif terhadap dosa, yang dapat melemahkan kesadaran moral dan komitmen terhadap akhlak dalam kehidupan sosial. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan normatif dan sosiologis, serta membandingkan pandangan Murji’ah dengan aliran lain dalam Islam seperti Ahlussunnah wal Jama’ah, untuk memperoleh pemahaman yang utuh mengenai dampak teologis dan etis dari ajaran tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, meskipun doktrin Murji’ah mengandung nilai positif dalam hal toleransi dan penolakan terhadap penghakiman dini, ia juga berpotensi mengaburkan urgensi amal saleh sebagai manifestasi iman dalam konteks sosial. Pemisahan iman dan amal ini telah menciptakan dikotomi antara kesalehan personal dan kesalehan sosial, yang dalam praktiknya seringkali tidak berjalan seiring. Oleh karena itu, penting untuk melakukan rekontekstualisasi ajaran Murji’ah agar nilai-nilai toleransi yang terkandung di dalamnya tidak dijadikan justifikasi atas lemahnya etika sosial. Penelitian ini menyarankan perlunya pendekatan teologis yang lebih integratif dalam menjawab tantangan etika keagamaan masa kini.

Abstract

This study explores the development of neo-spiritualism among youth, particularly in Kelurahan Kenangan, Lingkungan VII, Kecamatan Percut Sei Tuan. Neo-spiritualism emerges as a new form of spirituality that is more flexible, personal, and detached from formal religious doctrines, responding to the spiritual emptiness experienced in modern life and the declining authority of traditional religious institutions. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach, the research investigates the spiritual experiences and perspectives of youth through interviews, questionnaires, and literature studies. The findings reveal that many adolescents are open to modern spiritual practices such as meditation, self-healing, journaling, and mindfulness, often discovered through social media platforms. The primary drivers behind the growth of neo-spiritualism include the desire for a more personal spiritual experience and the influential role of digital media as a space for exploring life’s meaning. Despite this trend, the study identifies diverse spiritual characteristics, some youth fully detach from formal religion, while others maintain Islamic beliefs while adopting contemporary practices. This research provides insights into the shifting patterns of religiosity at the local level and highlights the importance of contextual and adaptive spiritual approaches in guiding today’s younger generation

Abstract

Prof. Dr. Haji Abdul Malik Karim Amrullah or often called Buya Hamka. Buya Hamka is an Indonesian intellectual figure who has down-to-earth thoughts and a vision of the future. Happiness or joy is a state of mind or feeling characterized by sufficiency to pleasure, love, satisfaction, enjoyment, or intense joy. Various approaches to philosophy, religion, psychology, and biology have been carried out to define happiness and determine its source. Happiness is the inner realm and not the physical realm. Because of the inner and not physical nature, happiness can be felt by anyone regardless of their social background. Happiness can also be felt by the rich, the poor, officials or ordinary people. This is what our religion teaches that happiness and material things are different, not directly proportional. It is not necessary that every poor person cannot meet the criteria for happiness, it is not necessary that rich people always feel happiness. Al-ghina ghina an-nafs, the real wealth is this inner wealth.

Abstract

Understanding the philosophy of consumerism has given birth to growth mania and megalomania in people's lives, especially in students. This has implications for two things, namely: the existence of moderate consumption behavior among students or high mass consumptions and wasteful consumption caused by the logical consequences of the development of the consumer movement that cannot catch up with the development of consumer desires and tastes that tend to be excessive and wasteful. Conversely, the desire for greater production in producers is also uncontrollable. Through data analysis that has been done, this study concludes that; 1) Students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan have a relatively high desire to consume, but the students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan can still maintain their achievement index on campus and not a few of them make the campus proud by winning competitions at the provincial, national and international levels. 2) Factors that cause consumptive behavior of students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan come from two factors, namely internal factors and external factors. Internal factors, consisting of; motivation and lifestyle. While external factors consist of; Advertising and self-identification models. 3) Consumptive behavior in students of the Faculty of Economics and Business UMSU Medan can be classified in the group of 'high mass consumptions' because they buy an item with indicators of 'prestige' and 'trend'.
