Abstract

Mould manufacturing is a time consuming process and a large portion of the time is used for machining process involving process planning and execution on machine. Since there are similarities in machining process for various different moulds, the process planning can be automated by applying a process template that has been proven to be the best practice for mould machining, such as the best machining parameters and sequence. The automation of process planning, so called Computer Aided Process Planning (CAPP), in this research is integrated with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) processes using CATIA V5 software. Due to the nature of mould machining that has similarities for different moulds, the CAPP developed using Variant type, where the best machining process is stored in the database and can be used as a process template for future machining process.Keywords: CAD, CAM, CAPP, CATIA V5.

Abstract

ABSTRACTPT. XYZ is a company engaged in automotive for motorcycles and car vehicle. The increasing number of product demand from customers requires companies to provide the best service, especially the quality of the product itself. The company often gets a lot of consumer complaints against Fuse Box X products that are not function on the busbar A and busbar B when are assembled by the customer in the last 3 months from March to May 2017.Based on the problem, the authors propose the need for the holding of checking tools that are able to detect that Busbar A and Busbar B are mounted tightly on Fuse Box X products. The method used to analyze consumer needs, one of them is by using QFD. Based on the HOQ obtained three criteria of the largest technical response is to remove the sound from the 12 Volt Buzzer, detect the product with LED lights, and electric components tightly sealed by PVC casing. Then it be done the design process of checking tool Fuse Box X and testing tool.By using hypothesis test of two independent population proportions stated defect proportion decreased by 34.78% after using Fuse Box X checking tool, where the value of 6.11% smaller than the previous (without checking tool) was 40.89%.Keywords: Checking tools, Quality Function Deployment, Design, Fuse Box X.

Abstract

PT. X is producing pharmaceutical packaging that made by glass tube as the raw material of the product; this study took ampoule as the sample. During the production process which is in the quality inspection, the operator found many defect products of ampoule such as crack 32%, glass particle 30%, deformation 14%, scratches 11%, air bubbles 10%, and printing 3%. Multi-Attribute Failure Mode Analysis (MAFMA) is one of them used to eliminate or reduce the causes of failure in order to prevent the repeating failure. The attributes became the criteria level in a hierarchy structure and the potential causes as alternative level. PT. X case study showed on crack failure that weight of severity, occurrence, detectability, and expected cost respectively are 0.3498, 0.0659, 0.1322, 0.4521. The weight of potential failure cause which is the storage room temperature not suitable (Cause A) is 0.2813. After the implementation of defect causes prevention, the percentage of defect reduction is 45% or about 43 units. Abstract

Maintenance is an important activity in ensuring the machine operation in a company. If maintenance activities are carried out in a planned manner, production activities can run smoothly. This research was conducted in a manufacturing company engaged in the manufacture of paper packaging. Based on the data, Duplex machines have a higher frequency of breakdown compared to other machines, which is 125 times in 22 months. This study aims to implement preventive maintenance of Duplex machines. The analysis starts with determining the critical components on a Duplex machine. Furthermore, the calculation of Mean Time to Failure (MTTF), Cost of Failure (Cf), and reliability. Finally, a preventive maintenance cost calculation (Cp) was carried out to determine the time interval for replacing components at a low cost. After the implementation of preventive maintenance, there were three components that experienced a decrease in maintenance costs. Bearing components experience a cost reduction of 8.30% with a reliability of 61%, chain components have decreased costs by 15.60% with a reliability of 62% and unwinder components have decreased costs by 10.70% with a reliability of 61%.Keywords: Duplex machine, preventive maintenance, MTTF, reliability

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the delay in building shelter projects and activities that cause delays. This research will provide suggestions on steps to be taken to overcome delays. This research uses two methods of control, namely the "what-if analysis" method for solutions if there is a delay in the project, as well as a method of shortening the duration of critical paths Duration Crashing on critical infrastructure with the addition of workers or the application of overtime work as an alternative control were performed. Currently, the critical path has not been identified and there is no solution provided to overcome the problem of delays in shelter construction projects. The target duration of the construction of the shelter construction project is known for 14 days but it has been delayed into 35 days. The results of this study are findings of some critical activities that can cause delays and what-if analysis is done for time acceleration of 10% to 100%.Keywords: What If analysis, Critical Path Method, shelter, Duration Crashing.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explain about automation as which is one step to reduce costs due to rising wages of employees every year. The other purpose of machine automation is to improve product quality. This project was carried out at PT. XYZ which produces automotive parts, one of which is a regulator product that functions as a voltage stabilizer on the car charge dynamo. This automation uses 2 methods, namely the method of dividing the operator's total work and machine improvisation. The machine that is automated in the Regulator product is an IC Silicone Potting Regulator machine. This machine functions as a filler for silicone material and also a vacuum process. In the process of filling silicone material initially using operator assistance. The target of this automation is to replace the role of the operator to fill the silicone material and be replaced by the machine. As a component of the automation of this machine, the author uses the IAI ROBO Slider. Where IAI ROBO Slider is able to move in certain positions as desired. This automation study also confirms or checks product quality so that product quality is maintained before and after the engine automation project. The results of this automation are able to reduce 1 operator in the regulator product, so as to reduce the operator's overall working hours each month. This automation project was obtained by Break Event Point (BEP) for 2.35 months.
