Abstract

Spondylosis is a type of osteoarthritis that attacks the spine caused by a degenerative process that disrupts the function and structure of the spine. This is because the lumbar area receives the greatest load when the body moves and when it supports weight. Besides that, the movement of carrying or lifting very heavy objects can also trigger lumbar spondylosis. This type of research uses a quasi-experimental one group pre_test and post_test design which aims to determine the effect of Micro Wave Diathermy (MWD) and William Flexion Exercise on reducing pain in low back pain due to lumbar spondylosis. While the sampling technique uses Total Sampling, namely by determining the inclusion and exclusion criteria set by the researcher. This research was conducted at the physiotherapy clinic of RSU Haji Makassar from 10 May to 10 July 2015, the samples were lumbar spondylosis patients with a total sample of 10 people who fit the inclusion criteria, namely aged 30-60 years, male and female, there were no contraindications of the two therapeutic applications, willing to be routinely treated 3 times within 2 months, and willing to be a respondent. The results showed that Microwave Diathermy (MWD) and William Flexion Exercise can reduce pain in Lumbar Spondylosis with an average pain reduction of 2.4700. Meanwhile, the results of the Paired t test obtained a value of ρ = 0.000 <α 0.05 which means that H1 is accepted so that it can be concluded that Microwave Diathermy (MWD) and William Flexion Exercise have a significant effect on reducing pain in low back pain due to spondylosis. It can be concluded that the administration of MWD and William Flexion exercise can produce a significant reduction in pain in patients with Lumbar Spondylosis and therefore it is suggested to physiotherapists in the practice area and in hospitals to use the MWD and William Flexion Exercise modalities as one of the main modalities in Lumbar Spondylosis conditions Keywords: MWD, William Flexion Exercise, Lumbar Spondylosis.

Abstract

Ischialgia is a manifestation of low back pain caused by clamping of the ischiadicus nerves. Ischialgia is pain that radiates down along the course of the ischiadicus nerve root which causes a change in the degree of SLR.This research is a quasi-experimental study with a pre test-post test control design study which aims to determine the effectiveness of adding Contract Relax to the TENS and Mc interventions. Kenzie compared to TENS and Mc. Kenzie alone on changes in SLR degrees of Ischialgia sufferers. This research was conducted at Salewangang Maros Hospital, with a sample of ischialgia sufferers who fit the researcher's inclusion criteria so that a total sample of 12 people was obtained. The number of samples was divided into 2 groups, namely the treatment group of 6 people who were given Contract Relax, TENS, and Mc. Kenzie and the control group as many as 6 people were given TENS, and Mc. kenzie. The results of the paired sample t test in the treatment group obtained a value of p = 0.000 <0.05, which means that the administration of Contract Relax, TENS, and Mc. Kenzie can produce a significant increase in the degree of SLR in patients with ischialgia, whereas in the control group a value of p = 0.000 <0.05 is obtained, which means that the administration of TENS and Mc. Kenzie can make a significant improvement in SLR degrees. Then based on the results of the independent sample t test, the value of p = 0.016 <0.05 was obtained, which means that the addition of Contract Relax to the TENS and Mc interventions. Kenzie is more effective than TENS and Mc. Kenzie alone on increasing the degree of SLR in patients with ischialgia. Thus the addition of Contract Relax to the TENS and Mc interventions. Kenzie is more effective than TENS and Mc. Kenzie alone on increasing the degree of SLR in patients with Ischialgia. Keywords: Contract Relax, TENS, Mc.Kenzie, Ischialgia, SLR Degree.

Abstract

The size of a normal baby's head circumference shows normal primitive reflexes. Primitive reflexes are very important and essential in the process of child development. The development of good primitive reflexes will cause the child's growth and development to run smoothly. This type of research is analytic with a cross sectional design. The sample of this study was 46 respondents who were taken based on the incidental method with the aim of knowing the relationship between head circumference and primitive reflexes on the growth and development of infants aged 0-6 months at the Sudiang Health Center. The results of statistical analysis using the chi-square test obtained P=0.001 for the relationship of head circumference to growth and development and P=0.000 for the relationship of primitive reflexes to growth and development. When P<0.05 then H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. So the result is that there is a relationship between head circumference and primitive reflexes for the growth and development of babies aged 0-6 months.Neurological examination, especially primitive reflexes, is an important thing that must be considered in order to minimize injuries or neurological diseases that will have an impact on delays or even disrupt the growth and development of the baby. While the physical examination, especially the measurement of head circumference, is equally important in order to determine the volume or development of the brain in babies every month. Keywords: Head Circumference, Primitive Reflexes, Growth and Development, Babies

Abstract

Osteoarthritis is a joint disorder that can cause limitations in joint motion which can be overcome by providing active and passive exercises. This research is a quasi-experimental study with a Pre Test – Post Test two group research design. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of hold relax and contract relax in increasing the range of motion (ROM) of the knee joint due to Osteoarthritis. This research was conducted at the Physiotherapy Clinic of the Hospital Bhayangkara with the population are all Osteoarthritis patients who visit the hospital. Bhayangkara Makassar during the study, using a purposive sampling method to obtain a total sample of 10 people based on inclusion criteria aged 45-65 years. The results of the paired t test in the hold relax group obtained a value of p = 0.025 <0.05 and in the contract relax group obtained a value of p = 0.099 > 0.05 while based on the results of the independent test between the hold relax group and the contract relax group showed that it was not significant where the p value = 0.305 > 0.05. Conclusion Hold relax and Contract relax have the same effect on increasing the value of knee joint ROM in Osteoarthritis patients, there is no significant effect on the addition of knee joint ROM in Osteoarthritis patients between the treatment groups. Keywords : Hold relax, Contract relax, knee joint ROM, Osteoarthritis

Abstract

Osteoarthritis is the most common type of arthritis and is found specifically in elderly people and is the most common in the world. The population of osteoarthritis sufferers in Indonesia was 34.3 million people in 2002 and reached 36.5 million people in 2007. An estimated 40 % of the population aged over 70 years suffer from osteoarthritis, and 80% of osteoarthritis patients have limited range of motion in various degrees from mild to severe which results in reduced quality of life due to the high prevalence. This research is a pre-experimental study with a one group pre test – post test research design. The research aims to determine the effect of giving SWD and TENS modalities on changes in pain reduction in patients with knee joint OA. This research was carried out at the Physiotherapy Clinic of the Hospital. Bhayangkara Makassar in 25 May – 25 June 2015. The sampling technique used purposive sampling, namely samples that match the inclusion criteria, from this technique 10 samples were obtained.Based on the results of the study, it was shown that the administration of SWD and TENS can produce changes in pain intensity from pre-test to post-test, with an average reduction of 1.3. Administration of SWD and TENS modalities can provide significant differences or changes in pain in knee joint pain with a level significant by 0.000 (p value <0.05).Thus, it can be concluded that the administration of SWD and TENS can produce a significant reduction in pain in patients with knee OA. It is suggested to physiotherapists in hospitals and practice areas to be able to use SWD and TENS, which can provide other methods of treating knee joint OA to reduce significant pain. Keywords: SWD, TENS, pain reduction, Osteortritis, Knee Joint.
