Abstract

As early as 1930s Audrey Richards hinted at the irony that the spread of Christianity in Zambia, against all its good intentions, instead of diminishing fear, rather increased spiritual insecurity among its converts. There is scholarly evidence that the detected spiritual insecurity in the early 20th century persists up to now. The triggers of spiritual insecurity in Africa are attributed to the breakdown of traditional relationships and mutual obligation, the belief in the influence of the spirits on people for either good or bad. Spiritual insecurity shows that some of the Africans are in dilemma of Christian and African spiritual worldviews thereby struggling to fully trust the Christian approach to spiritually related challenges. This article validates the view that spiritual insecurity in Africa though highly ignored, should be taken seriously. It explores how the Church can use its faith formation system to address issue causing spiritual insecurity in Africa. Data collected through qualitative literature review and observations is engaged using the hermeneutical theory to argue for a faith formation which addresses the fissure between words about God in statements of faith and spiritual insecurity among African Christians by clarifying Christian confessions, identity and reflection.

Abstract

School and learning are inseparable. Meaningful learning looks at several aspects in its implementation, such as the school environment, classroom management, student character to the model or lesson method used. Teachers in this case play a role as agents of reconciliation who can introduce God to their students in the classroom, this can also start from the teacher choosing a learning model. One of the learning models that can be chosen is cooperative learning which uses a model of cooperation in learning. There are various kinds of cooperative learning models, but in this study, there are three discussed. Thus, the purpose of this research is to find out the cooperative learning type STAD, Guided Inquiry and Problem based Learning in Christian perspective. With the literature review method, the results of this study are that the use of the STAD learning model has a positive impact on students, and by the philosophy of Christian education emphasizes the importance of human relations with others as the image and likeness of God. The application of the guided inquiry learning model requires the active involvement of a teacher to guide students both cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual in learning.  Project-based learning in its implementation is expected to be able to direct students to holistic growth in accordance with the role of Christian teachers in the discipleship process.

Abstract

This paper discusses the impact of Christianity on today’s culture, so it is written from a Christian perspective. Culture, whether we realize it or not, has a powerful impact on human life. It shapes people's worldview, thinking patterns, life habits, goals, pursuits, choices, and desires. This paper aims to recall the engagement and activeness of Christians in culture, for if not, then Christianity will not have any impact in people's lives, rather it is the world that will influence and shape Christianity. The method used is a literature review, specifically the fine and incisive literatures on the cultural engagement of Christianity. This discussion of cultural engagement will use a four-question structure: "Who Am I, Where Am I, What's Wrong, and What's the Remedy." It is intended that the results of this study will reawaken the consciousness of every reader to reflect on the urgency of Christian cultural engagement in the formation of culture today. At the end, when Christians could re-engage in culture again, Christ and His lordship will once again shine, influence and permeate all aspects of human life for the glory of God.

Abstract

Johannine Literature is known for its rich theological perspective. Grounding from his theological standpoints, he draws his ethical principles. One of the disputes in this book is whether John has explicit or implicit ethical implications for his teaching. The methodology used in this paper is a literature review using exegetical sources. This paper focuses on one of John’s teachings, “abiding in” and its ethical principles.  The concept of “abiding in” portrays the identity and authority of Jesus related to His Father, the status and fellowship between Jesus and His disciples, as a mark of true or false disciples, and as a basis to live as Jesus lived. Deriving from this concept, abiding in Jesus is the ground of ethical principles: living in the light, loving others, and obeying the truth.

Abstract

Modern developments have had a significant influence on the world of education, for example technology-based learning innovations. However, technological developments have both positive and negative impacts. An examination based on a Biblical perspective is sufficient to answer the problems that arise because it is important to view the presence of technology as God's providence that must be used wisely. If not reviewed biblically, the presence of technology becomes a big problem in learning. The purpose of writing this paper is to present a study of Christian philosophy and theology regarding learning innovations based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology. Educational innovation based on AI technology in the perspective of Biblical Christian insights using the research method of literature review. Hopefully God's providence will be manifested in learning practice that glorify God and the world's philosophical views will not shake Christian faith. The results of the discussion show the philosophical views and Christian theology that students will get from teachers who invite students to properly examine AI technology-based learning innovations. The conclusion is that technology-based learning innovations are designed by Christian teachers in accordance with God's will. Suggestions that Christian teachers can make in learning are to deepen their mastery of knowledge, skills and correct attitudes regarding technological developments.

Abstract

Christian education views critical thinking skills as an important aspect because, through critical thinking skills, students are encouraged to differentiate between correct and incorrect information. Critical thinking skills can also guide students to correct knowledge and be able to prove these truths in the classroom. Critical thinking skills in Indonesia are still very low. This is proven by the low PISA results achieved by Indonesia in 2018. Therefore, one way to develop critical thinking skills is to apply the Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model. The Jurisprudential Inquiry learning model can encourage students' critical thinking skills because students are continuously involved in learning to analyze and solve problems. This learning model can also stimulate students' curiosity about something so that students will take the initiative to look for facts and data related to the problem being discussed. This learning model is still relatively new and has been implemented in several middle and upper secondary schools. However, it is still not widely implemented, especially at the elementary school level because it is relatively new. This research aims to examine the importance of the Inquiry Learning Model in developing elementary students' critical thinking skills. The author uses a qualitative descriptive research method
