Abstract

Dessiccation factors is affecting to photosynthesis response in macroalgae leaf exposed to light of the environment. Hypothesis of this research is macroalgae species scattered in upper zone having high tolerance against dessiccation. This research aims to analyzing macroalgae spesies productivity with using PAM fluorometer. Some species of seaweed was collected like Ulva pertusa, Polyopes affinis, Gloiopeltis furcata, Sargassum thunbergiii and Saccharina japonica. Seawed sampling is based on it dominance in the rocky intertidal zone which includes upper, middle and lower zone. Result of the study show Ulva pertusa less tolerance to dessiccation stress and rarely it can growth in rocky intertidal zone. Nevertheless, species of Polyopes affinis, Gloipertis furcata, Sargassum thunbergii and Saccharina japonica have been gradually increased which it show ability to dessiccation stress from exposure to free air.

Abstract

The study about gonado somatic level of fresh water is database for controlling breeding and conservation in the future. Some asessment can conducted to observing gonado somatic index is with plasma levels (hormone), gonado somatic index dan histology. Tor tambroides (local name is kerling) is one of fresh water species in Aceh. However, exploitation of fish (Tor tambroides) and degradation of river habitat is endanger for this species. This study aims to knowing profile gonado somatic of Tor tambroides especially male fish with histolgy approach. Sampling of fish was conducted during 6 months i.e. July – December. For fish catching, this research was using cast net with mesh size 1 inch and 2 inch. Explorative survey was used for sampling strategy. Histology analysis was conducted at histology laboratorium (Balai Budidaya Air Payau Ujong Batee, Aceh Province). Result show that development fish gonado of Tor tambroides stated with spermatogonia cell, spermatosit primer, spermatosit secondary dan spermatid dan this result is found in every months. Nevertheless, dominant propostion value is spematogenesis with value 55%. Base on the research is known Tor tambroides (male fish) entering spawning session on July.

Abstract

Fisheries production in West of Aceh was still insufficient to provide the local community consumption. However, fisheries resources in  West of Aceh water  are abundant. But utilization of fisheries particularly skipjack tuna (cakalang) hasn’t been yet optimalized. This aiming to analyse the status of sustainablity of skipjack (Katsuwonus pelamis) fisheries in West of Aceh water.  The study was conducted in November to Desember 2012 at the Fish Landing  Port of  Kuala Bubon  and Fish Landing Bases (PPI) Ujong Baroh. The result shown that sustainability index value by using multidimensional scaling is 88,42 with stress value is  0.12 and coefisien of determination (R2) is 0,95 or 95%. Such index value show that sustainablity of skipjack resources were good status. It means that multidimensional of skipjack stock were still paid attention in fisheries management sustainable. Beside that, it shown from water condition and fishing gears were still support viability of such comodity.

Abstract

Most of coastal waters of West Sumbawa are wave-exposed areas. As part of Alas Strait this region is located between Lombok and Sumbawa Island. On the land and coastal areas, mineral mining (i.e. gold) activities are operated massively by large private company (i.e. PT. Newmont Nusa Tenggara) and traditional mining by local communities. These activities (especially for traditional mining) are expected to increase the content of heavy metals in the marine and coastal waters surrounding. A residual of mining processing will produce heavy metals disposal. In this study, the distributions of heavy metals (i.e. Hg, Cr6+, Cu, As, Ni, Zn, Pb, and Cd) were measured in the water column and bed sediments of coastal waters of West Sumbawa. This study was conducted during dry season in July 2011. The results show the heavy metal concentrations in water column were mainly within the permissible limits (based on Keputusan Menteri Lingkungan Hidup No. 51, 2004). Except for Cu, the concentration was highest found on most of the stations. The heavy metal contents in bed sediment were low, but varied among sampling points. Furthermore, Cu content in bed sediment also found remarkably high (101,7 mg/Kg) with additionally Zn content was closed (10,6–105,5 mg/Kg) within the permissible limits (based on criteria by Australian and New Zealand Environment and Conservation Council – ANZECC, 2000).

Abstract

IbM's activities in an effort to introduce and enrich the diversity of species in the family Cyprinidae genotip to the interests of farming and its derivatives. Because it needs to be done as well as the mastery of the production activity of hatcheries Beutong Ateuh from Sungai kerling. Given the genetic material contained in fish kerling, expected to be used to produce more eggs and seeds. So the guarantee the availability of these fish later, reducing the activity of the arrest from nature as well as support activities restoking, besides economic community could increase the local village. The approach used to address the issue of partners has provided the means to fish had seeded kerling/kerling fish produce seeds. The next technological transfers conducted pre-seeding (preparation of an indukan, an pendederan, a indukan fish preparation, manufacture and supply of kerling on-site hatchery), seeding (how to stem the kerling selection is ready to use for the production of seed, means injecting stem kerling, ways of stripping, how to determine the success of fertilization, larvae, maintenance ways how to seed until enlargement size ready to spread), post seeding (how good seed selection), as well as fish outfarm kerling (aspects of marketing : products/commodities, price, promotion, place/distribution). Ipteks activities for the community is quite helpful partners in preserving local fish germplasm kerling, this activity has been running 85%, including equipping facilities activities ipteks. But in terms of increased income partners the desired target is not reached, given the parent fish kerling used suffered the death of some tail. A good fish seed breeding is on a container that apply the system of running water.
