Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of Kaulinan Barudak in preserving the values of Catur Silih in Sundanese culture in the modern era. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with a library research approach. Data were collected from books, journal articles, previous studies, and online publications related to Sundanese culture, traditional games, and Catur Silih values. The results show that Kaulinan Barudak contains cultural values of silih asih, silih asah, silih asuh, and silih wawangi, which contribute to children’s social harmony, character development, and sense of responsibility. However, the preservation of Kaulinan Barudak faces challenges in the digital era due to the dominance of electronic games and limited play space. Integrating traditional games into early childhood education through a culture-based curriculum and technological adaptation can ensure their sustainability. The preservation effort requires collaboration among schools, parents, and the government so that traditional games can be reintroduced to the younger generation in a relevant and meaningful way.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the curriculum system in Japan by focusing on five main aspects: (1) the history of the curriculum; (2) curriculum policy; (3) curriculum principles; (4) early childhood education (ECE) curriculum; (5) types of early childhood education institutions in Japan; and (6) insights for Indonesian Early Childhood Education. This research employs a qualitative approach using a literature review method. The subjects of the study include relevant documents such as books, academic articles, and Japanese educational policy documents. Data were collected through literature analysis and analyzed using content analysis techniques, involving repeated reading and cross-referencing of sources to ensure data validity. The results indicate that Japan consistently updates its curriculum every ten years to align with changing times. The curriculum is dynamic, flexible, and modern. The historical development of Japan's curriculum is divided into two major eras: Tokugawa and Meiji. The principle of Chi-Toku-Tai, emphasized in the Japanese curriculum, aligns with Bloom’s taxonomy domains: cognitive, affective, and psychomotor. At the early childhood level, the curriculum for children aged 0–3 focuses on intellectual, social-emotional, and physical development, while for those aged 4–6, it emphasizes structured play, language, arts, and social interaction. Thus, Japan’s early childhood education curriculum reflects a comprehensive and sustainable system, characterized by periodic curriculum revisions, the implementation of the Chi-Toku-Tai principle, and the integration of national policy with a holistic, child-centered educational approach.

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the impact of healthy environment development activities at TK Pertiwi Panggung on the formation of children's naturalistic intelligence. Environmental education is crucial in early childhood as it plays a role in fostering ecological awareness and an attitude of caring for the environment. The activities implemented included gardening, waste sorting, and maintaining cleanliness, which directly provided nature-based learning experiences for the children. The research method used was descriptive qualitative, with data collection through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results indicated that the healthy environment development activities not only enhanced children's naturalistic intelligence but also instilled discipline, responsibility, and a love for nature. Some challenges faced included limited space and parental support. Additionally, the active involvement of teachers in facilitating these activities had a significant impact on the success of the program. In conclusion, the healthy environment development program at school plays a significant role in shaping children's naturalistic intelligence and fostering environmental care characteristics in early childhood. This highlights the importance of integrating environmental education into early childhood education curricula to support the holistic development of character and intelligence.
