Abstract

Genetic variability is a measure of the variation in plant performance caused by genetic factors. if the variability of plant character is attributable to genetic roles then the variability will be inherited in the next generation. Heritability is a genetic parameter used to measure the ability of a genotype in plant population to transmit its character. Heritability in a broad sense is defined as the ratio between genotype variance and phenotype variance. This study aimed to estimate the values of genetic variability and heritability of growth and yield of 26 plant genotypes tomato. The experiment was conducted from August to December 2016 in Wirehouse, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Bengkulu. The design used in this study was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with one factor which were 26 tomato genotypes and were repeated three times. Each plant was observed according to the variability and heritability guidelines for the observation variables. The results showed that the growth component of tomato plants that have wide genetic variability and high heritability of the broad sense was found in the characters of plant height, whereas the yield component were found on fruit diameter , crack fruit, and nonmarketable fruit. Selection of tomato plants should be directed to the characters of plant height, fruit diameter, the number of crack fruit, and non-marketable fruit. Akta

Abstract

Palm oil mill waste is one of the biggest problems in palm oil mill development, hence the need for technology to treat the waste in order to be utilized. This study aims to obtain the composition of organic fertilizer solid waste palm oil factory combined with inorganic fertilizer in the main seedling of oil palm, carried out in the nursery garden of PT. Bio Nusantara Teknologi, Kec. Pondok Kelapa, Central Bengkulu District, from January 2016 to April 2016 with a height of 13 meters above sea level, using Completely Randomized Design (RCD), a factor with 4 replications. Dosage of combination Organic Fertilizer (POP) and Inorganic Fertilizer consisting of 6 levels, namely: O0 = 100% Inorganic (50 g / polybag) + 0% Organic (0 g / polybag), O1 = 80% Inorganic (40 g / polybag) + 20% Organic (100 g / polybag), O2 = 60% Inorganic (30 g / polybag) + 40% Organic (200 g / polybag), O3 = 40% Inorganic (20 g / polybag) + 60% Organic (300 g / polybag), O4 = 20% Inorganic (10 g / polybag) + 80% Organic (400 g / polybag), O5 = 0% Inorganic (0 g / polybag) + 100% Organic (500 g / polybag) ). The results showed that the combination of fertilizer treatment was significantly different from the variability of green leaves, the increase of seedlings 12 weeks after planting (MST), stem diameter 12 MST and leaf-breaking time, and not significantly different on the leaves leaf variable 12 MST.Keywords: palm oil waste,  solid organic fertilizer,  inorganic fertilizer,  palm oil nursery

Abstract

Blewah (C. melo var. Cantalupensis) is one specific type of melon with fresh and fragrance arome when the fruit is ripe.  Mostly the plant is grown in Java island of Indonesia.  There is no research-based  information about technique of cultivationof this plant, so this experiment was done to study population density to determine the optimal spacing for growth and yield of blewah.  The experiment has been implemented from February 2016 until May 2016 in the experimental field of the University of Bengkulu. This study used a complete Randomized Complete Block Design with different population density treatments i.e.: plant density of 4 plants per plot of 10 m2 (plant spacing 100 cm x 250 cm);  plant density of 6 plants per plot, (plant spacing 100 cm x 166 cm); plant density of 8 crops per plot (spacing of 100 cm x 120 cm); plant density of 10 plants per plot (plant spacing 100cm x 100 cm); plant density of 12 plants per plot (plant spacing 100 cm x 83 cm); plant density of 14 plants per plot (plant spacing 100 cm x 72 cm); and plant density of 16 plants per plot (plant spacing 100cm x 62 cm). Each treatment was repeated 3 times. The experiment showed that the optimal spacing for growing blewah was at population density 12 plants/10 m2 or 12,000 plant/ha, plant spacing 100 cm x 83 cm. This arrangement of plant yielded the length of  plant, the number of branches, the diameter of the fruit, the plant dry weight, the weight of the fruit per plot, and fruit thickness of 224.47 cm, 3.67, 9.61 cm, 22.15 g, 7044.80 g,  and 2.21 cm respectively. Keywords: blewah, Cucumis melo var. Abstract

Cultivation of cayenne pepper is still much dependent on the use of inorganic fertilizers on a large scale with a high dose. Optimizing the use of inorganic fertilizers needs to be done so that the cost of chili farming can be minimized and more environmentally friendly. Optimization of cayenne pepper cultivation can be done through intensification efforts that is through the addition of biological fertilizers and IAA growth regulators. It is necessary to study the use of biological fertilizer and IAA on the growth and yield of cayenne pepper. The objective of this research is to get the optimum dosage of biofertilizer and IAA concentration for growth and yield of cayenne pepper. This research was conducted from September to January 2016. This study used Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with two factors. The first factor was biological fertilizer consisting of: B0 (without biological fertilizer), B1 (2 g per polybag), B2 (4 g per polybag), B3 (6 g per polybag) and second factor ie IAA spray concentration: without IAA), I1 (2 mgL -1), I2 (4 mgL-1), I3 (6 mgL-1) were repeated four times to obtain 64 experimental units. The results showed that biological fertilizer treatment significantly affect the leaves leaf variation with the optimum dosage of biomass fertilizer that is 2.29 g per plant produces leaf area 5.59 cm2. Furthermore very significant effect on fruit weight variables with increased dosage of 2 g can increase the weight of chili pepper fruit. While the interaction of dosage of biological fertilizer and IAA concentration did not significantly affect each observation variables.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Beringin Raya Sungai Hitam Village, Muara Bangkahulu Subdistrict, Bengkulu City from January to April 2016.  The research aims to compare the growth and yield of 9 lines of soybean expectation with 2 varieties of comparison (Tanggamus and Demas 1) on sandy land. The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Block Design (RAKL) using a single treatment factor of 11 soybean genotypes consisting of 9 lines of expectation (G4AB, G2BB, G1DB, 13 ED, 14 DD, 19 BE, 25 EC, G511H / Anj-2-10, and G511H / Anj-1-3) and 2 varieties of comparison (Tanggamus and Demas 1), each treatment was repeated four times to obtain 44 experimental units. Variables that significantly affect the F test at 5% level, followed by cluster analysis of Scott-Knott at 5% level. Of the 9 lines of expectation tested only 13 ED lines, 14 DD, and 25 EC had a number of comparable books comparable to the comparison varieties (Tanggamus and Demas 1). The comparative varieties had moderate flowering, deep harvest age, highest plant height, number of productive branches and the largest number of fertile books compared to the 9 tested lines. Density 13 ED, 14 DD, 25 EC has a number of pods of content comparable to the comparison varieties. The G511H / Anj-2-10 strain has more number of seeds per pod than the comparable strain / variety tested. The ED 13 line has a seed weight per plot proportional to the comparison varieties (Tanggamus and Demas 1), but is higher than the expected line of test. While the 19 BE strain has a weight of 100 seeds higher than the other strains / varieties tested
