Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effects of training, work environment, and motivation on employee performance at PT X, a manufacturing company located in Cikarang. The study adopts a quantitative approach and employs a non-probability sampling technique using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaire distribution, and the data analysis was conducted using the Partial Least Squares (PLS) method with the assistance of SmartPLS 4 software, which includes the assessment of both the outer model and the inner model to examine the relationships among variables. A total of 146 respondents participated in this study, all of whom were employees of PT X. The results indicate that training has a negative and significant effect on employee performance, the work environment has a negative but insignificant effect on performance, while motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. The most influential factors include compensation, job security, social relationships among employees, and employee recognition and appreciation in enhancing employee performance at PT X. The implications of this study suggest that the company needs to enhance employee motivation through a supportive work environment as well as a fair system of rewards and recognition, as these factors have been proven to positively affect performance. In addition, the company should evaluate and adjust its training programs to ensure they are more effective and relevant to job requirements. The current work environment should also be continuously maintained and improved so that it does not become a barrier to employee performance in the future. This study is important because it is expected to provide positive contributions to the company and assist human resource management in formulating strategies to improve employee performance, enabling the company to remain competitive amid uncertain economic conditions.

Abstract

This study investigates the effects of basic infrastructure, educational infrastructure, and the Human Development Index (HDI) on district and municipal economic growth in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The analysis encompasses road infrastructure, access to clean water, electricity, telecommunications, and educational participation from primary to senior secondary levels, with HDI serving as a proxy for human capital. Panel data covering 19 districts and municipalities over the period 2015–2024 are employed, obtained from Statistics Indonesia. To control for endogeneity, unobserved heterogeneity, and growth dynamics, the model is estimated using the two-step dynamic panel System Generalized Method of Moments (System GMM). The findings reveal strong growth persistence, indicating that current regional economic performance is significantly shaped by past outcomes. Primary and senior secondary educational infrastructure, together with HDI, exert positive and statistically significant effects on economic growth. Conversely, water infrastructure shows a negative and significant association, while road infrastructure displays a negative but insignificant relationship. Electricity, telecommunications, and junior secondary education infrastructure present positive yet statistically insignificant effects. These results suggest that infrastructure expansion alone is insufficient to stimulate economic growth; its effectiveness critically depends on service quality, utilization efficiency, and complementarities with human capital. This study contributes empirical evidence on heterogeneous infrastructure effects in subnational dynamic panel settings and underscores the importance of integrating infrastructure quality improvements with human capital development to achieve sustainable and inclusive regional growth.

Abstract

This study identifies the impact of profitability, leverage, and capital intensity on tax planning, with company size as a moderating variable, focusing on real estate companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for the years 2022 to 2024. This study uses a quantitative method with moderated regression analysis (MRA). The sample consists of 37 companies that meet certain criteria, resulting in 111 panel data observations. The findings show that profitability has a significant positive effect on tax planning, while leverage has a significant negative effect on tax planning, and capital intensity has a significant positive effect on tax planning. Company size does not moderate the relationship between profitability, leverage, and capital intensity on tax planning. The managerial implication of this study is the importance of company management to pay attention to the balance between tax efficiency and tax compliance so as not to trigger legal risks and damage to reputation.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of digital marketing, financial technology (fintech), and green innovation on the performance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the food and beverage (culinary) sector in Sukomanunggal District, Surabaya. This study was motivated by the inconsistency of previous studies, which showed that the three variables had both significant and insignificant effects on MSME performance. In this context, the study offers a new approach by focusing on a region where business actors are relatively more adaptive to digitalization and environmentally friendly innovation. Using a quantitative approach and purposive sampling technique, data were collected from 50 MSMEs that have implemented digital marketing, financial technology (fintech), and green innovation. The results of this study indicate that the simultaneous combination of digital marketing, fintech, and green innovation can drive improved performance among MSMEs, measured through customer growth, revenue, operational efficiency, and market expansion. These findings are expected to provide practical contributions for MSME actors and enrich the academic literature in the field of digital business strategy and sustainability.

Abstract

Queues in budget-priced food-service retail commonly arise when customer arrivals exceed service capacity during peak hours. This study examines queuing as a dual phenomenon: an indicator of service-process efficiency and a form of social proof that may shape customers’ decisions to join, remain in, or abandon a queue. Non-participant observations were conducted at three Mie Gacoan branches in North Sulawesi (Manado, Tondano, and Airmadidi) across nine weekend sessions (midday peak 11:00–13:30 WITA; evening peak 18:00–21:30 WITA). Data were compiled from field notes, time logs of estimated waiting times, service-flow mapping using a service blueprint, and anonymized documentation of service artefacts. The findings indicate a multi-stage queue, with bottlenecks shifting across the cashier, preparation, and handover phases. Manado exhibited the highest intensity (maximum queue length: 95 customers; maximum waiting time: 60 minutes) and the greatest number of abandonment events (19), whereas Tondano showed lower levels (62 customers; 42 minutes; 9) and Airmadidi fell in between (78 customers; 50 minutes; 13). Sessions with longer waiting times were associated with higher levels of abandonment; however, persistent queue density during the evening peak suggests that the queue did not subside to low levels over the observation period despite rising time costs. Overall, the results provide descriptive evidence consistent with P1–P3 concerning multi-stage queue dynamics, the influence of service-design variation on where congestion accumulates, and the trade-off between time costs and the social-proof value of queuing in customers’ decisions.
