Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the growth response and yield of three soybean varieties (Glycine max, L.) "against drought stress and interaction. This research was conducted in Birem Rayeuk, Kabupaten Aceh Timur with height of place 3 meter from sea level and soil pH 5,5. Implementation of research start from February until June 2017. This research use Randomized Block Design (RAK) with factorial pattern consisting of 2 (two) factors, namely: Factor three varieties are: V1 = Agromulyo, V2 = Wilis and V3 = Kaba and drought stress factors are: K1 = 80% of KL = 1.3 l, K2 = 60% of KL = 0.97 l, K3 = 40% of KL = 0.65 l and K4 = 20% of KL = 0.32 l. To illustrate the growth and production of soybean crops, observations were made on the parameters of plant height, number of productive branches, root length, number of pods per polybag, number of pods, dry seed weight per polybag and 100 grains of dry beans. The results showed that the treatment of three varieties had a very significant effect on plant height at age 50 HST and number of pods per polibag and significantly effect on plant height at age 35 HST. The best varieties are found in V1 treatment (Agromulyo). the drought stress treatment had a very significant effect on plant height at age 35 and 50 HST, root length, number of pods and weight of 100 grains of dried beans and significantly affect the number of productive branches and the weight of dry beans per polybag. The best growth and production of soybean due to drought stress was found in the treatment of K2 (0.97 l). The interaction between three varieties and drought stress had no significant effect on all parameters tested. In relation to the results of this study for the cultivation of soybean crops it is advisable to use Agromulyo varity and drought stress levels of 60% of KL = 0.97 l performed separately.

Abstract

Studies on endophytic bacteria has been increasing recently due to its potency to promote plant growth and induce plant tolerance to pests and diseases. The research was undergone to isolate endophytic bacteria from sugarcane followed by evaluation of their biocontrol and plant growth activities. Isolation of endophytic bacteria was based-on surface-sterilized method using alcohol 70% and 0,1% HgCl₂ on NA media. The result showed: 10 isolate endophytic bacteria had isolation were: B1, B2, B3, B4, B5, B6, B7, B8, B9, and B10. Three isolate had clear zone on petridish ≥ 20 mm in vitro testing is B9, B7, and B2. The results showed of endophytic bacteria filtrate test B2 produces alkaloid and terpenoid compounds, B7 contains saponin flavonoid, tannin and terpenoid compounds and B9 contains alkaloid, tannin and terpenoid compounds. This indicated that some of the endophytic bacteria have the potency as biocontrol agents and inducer of plant growth.

Abstract

Penelitian dilaksanakan di areal dan Rumah Kaca Kampus Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Pertanian Agrobisnis Perkebunan LPP Medan. Penelitian dimulai dari tanggal 1 Maret 2017 sampai 27 Juni 2017.Penelitian dilakukan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) Faktorial yang terdiri dari 2 faktor dengan 3 level perlakuan untuk faktor pertama, dan 3 level perlakuan untuk faktor kedua. Faktor 1 merupakan komposisi limbah kelapa sawit yang terdiri dari 3 taraf, yaitu : L1: 100% TKKS, L2 : 50% TKKS + 50% Pelepah Kelapa Sawit, dan L3: 50% TKKS + 25%Pelepah Kelapa Sawit +25% Batang Dalam. Faktor 2 merupakan dosis NaOH konsentrasi 20% dengan campuran Tanin masing-masing perlakuan sebanyak 14,8 ml yang terdiri dari 3 taraf , yaitu :N1 : NaOH 45 gr, N2 : NaOH 65 gr, dan N3 : NaOH 85 gr. Penggunaan limbah pabrik kelapa sawit TKKS 100 %menunjukkan adanya respon terhadap parameter pH green polybag dengan nilai pH 9,67. pHgreen polybag telah mendekati pH bahan organic yang telah dikomposkan sehingga mudah terdekomposisi didalam tanah.Pemberian dosisi NaOH sebanyak 65 g menunjukkan adanya respon terhadap parameter ratio C/N green polybag dengan nilai ratio C/N 6,06%.Interaksi antara penggunaan limbah pabrik kelapa sawit dan dosis NaOH menunjukkan tidak adanya respon terhadap semua parameter yang diamati.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh konsentrasi dan lama perendaman dalam larutan giberellin terhadap perkecambahan benih kakao serta interaksi yang dimunculkan dari kedua perlakuan tersebut. Rancangan yang dugunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) pola faktorial, yang terdiri dari dua faktor yaitu : faktor konsentrasi Giberellin (G) yang terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu ; G0 (0,0 ml/liter air atau kontrol), G1 (0,5 ml/liter air), G2 (1,0 ml/liter air), dan G3 (1,5 ml/liter air). Faktor lama perendaman (L) yang terdiri terdiri dari 4 taraf yaitu : L0 (0 jam atau kontrol), L1 (12 jam), L2 (24 jam), dan L3 (36 jam). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi giberellin berpengaruh nyata terhadap daya kecambah benih kakao pada umur 14 HST. Perlakuan konsentrasi giberellin terbaik ditemukan pada konsentrasi 1,5 ml/liter air (G3). Lama perendaman dalam giberellin berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap daya kecambah benih kakao umur 14 HST, dan vigor benih kakao pada umur 14 HST, serta berpengaruh nyata terhadap daya kecambah umur 7 HST dan potensi tumbuh. Perlakuan lama perendaman terbaik ditemukan pada perendaman 24 jam (L2). Interaksi antara perlakuan konsentrasi dan lama perendaman dalam giberellin berpengaruh tidak nyata terhadap seluruh parameter pengamatan yang meliputi daya kecambah, potensi tumbuh, vigor, tinggi kecambah, serta panjang akar. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, untuk mendapatkan perkecambahan yang optimal pada benih kakao dianjurkan menggunakan larutan giberellin dengan konsentrasi 1,5 ml/liter air dan lama perendaman 24 jam, yang dilakukan secara terpisah.

Abstract

Oryctes rhinoceros (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae) is an important pest in palm oil plants in Indonesia. Biological control is one of the pest control methods O. rhinoceros L. Natural enemies representing the world of insects can be classified into two predators and parasitoids. Ants M. Castanea as a predator on pest Oryctes rhinoceros can be bred in bulk. Breeding mass necessary BioEkologi understanding of natural enemies. The purpose of this study was to determine the ants of colony Mypoponae castanea as predators of the palm stem borer O. rhinoceros (Coleoptera: Scarabaidae) on a pile of oil palm trunk in laboratory.This research was conducted at the Laboratory of Pest Plant of the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatra Utara, Medan (± 25 m above sea level). This research was conducted in November 2014 to Agustus 2015. The results showed a colony of M. castanea had one queen with 5-6 male ants and 60-70 worker ants in the laboratory.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan hasil kacang tanah (Arachis hypogeae, L) pada berbagai ukuran benih dan kedalaman olah tanah serta interaksi antara kedua perlakuan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, perlakuan berat benih berperanguh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur 25, 50 dan 75 HST, jumlah daun pada umur 25, 50 dan 75 HST, jumlah polong, produksi perumpun dan berat 100 biji. Perlakuan berat benih terbaik yaitu B3 (Besar =0,41 - 0,50 gr). Perlakuan kedalaman olah tanah berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur 25, 50 dan 75 HST, jumlah daun pada umur 25, 50 dan 75 HST, jumlah polong, produksi perumpun dan berat 100 biji. Perlakuan kedalaman olah tanah terbaik yaitu K3 = 30 cm. Interaksi antara berat benih dan kedalaman olah tanah berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman pada umur 25, 50 dan 75 HST. Interaksi perlakuan terbaik yaitu B3K3 (besar = 0,41 - 0,50 gr) dan kedalaman olah tanah = 30 cm.

Abstract

Salinity in the soil have a devastating effect on plant metabolism, disrupting cellular homeostasis and uncoupling major physiological and biochemical processes. This research was conducted in a greenhouse of Agriculture Faculty, North Sumatra University, Medan, from February until June 2014. The research used completely randomized design with three factors. The first factor was giberellic acid were giberellic acid (5 mg L-1) and without giberellic acid. The second factor was salicylic acid were 0 mM, 0,5 mM and 1 mM. The third factor was salinity were 0 dsm-1 and 4-5 dsm-1. The interaction of giberellic acid and salicylic acid indecate significant effect on parameter such as chlorophyll a and b and betacarotene. Interaction between giberellic acid and salt stress indicated significant effect on chlorophyll a and b and betacarotene. Interaction between salicylic acid and salt stress indicated significant effect on growth and production such as chlorophyll a and b and betacarotene. Interaction three factors of giberellic acid, salicylic acid and salt stress indicated significant effect on chlorophyll a and b and betacarotene. Thus, evaluate the respons of giberellic acid and salicylic acid under salt stress on roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa L) helped in the tolerance of plants to salt stress.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jenis ZPT dan pupuk hayati terhadap pertumbuhan bibit karet stum mata tidur (Hevea brasilliensis muell. Arg) serta interaksi antara kedua perlakuan tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan, perlakuan Pemberian jenis ZPT berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap lama mata tunas melentis, panjang tunas umur 30, 60 dan 90 HST, diameter tunas umur 60 dan 90 HST, jumlah daun umur 30, 60 dan 90 HST, luas daun dan bobot akar lateral. Hasil pengamatan terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan Z3 (ZPT Growtone). Perlakuan Pemberian jenis pupuk hayati berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap panjang tunas umur 60 dan 90 HST, diameter tunas umur 60 dan 90 HST, jumlah daun umur 60 dan 90 HST, luas daun dan bobot akar lateral. Hasil pengamatan terbaik diperoleh pada perlakuan H2 (pupuk hayati Herbafarm). Interaksi antara ZPT dan pupuk hayati berpengaruh nyata terhadap luas daun stum mata tidur tanaman karet. Luas daun tertinggi dijumpai pada kombinasi perlakuan Z3H2 (ZPT Growtone dan pupuk hayati Herbafarm). Untuk mendapatkan pertumbuhan bibit stum mata tidur karet dalam polybag yang baik, disarankan menggunakan ZPT Growtone dan pupuk hayati Herbafarm secara bersamaan.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of expiry time and soaking duration in coconut water on watermelon seed invigoration and the interaction of the two treatments to invigorate watermelon seed. The results showed that the expiration treatment had a very significant effect on the observation parameter of sprout height but did not significantly affect other parameters. The best treatment was found on the 1 month expiration M1. The soaking of duration treatment in coconut water ZPT had a significant effect on growth potential, germination, growth rate, vigor index but no significant effect on the height of sprout and root length. The best treatment was found at a concentration of 250 cc / liter of water. The interaction of the two treatments had no significant effect on all observed parameters observed. Based on the results of the research, the seeds of expired watermelon can still be increased germination provided that expiry time used does not exceed 1 month, other than that the soaking of duration in coconut water as much as 250 cc / liter of water done separately can also increase the germination of expired watermelon.

Abstract

Indonesia memiliki gambut tropis terluas di dunia, dengan prakiraan luas 21 juta hektar. Pembakaran di lahan gambut memberikan dampak sifat fisik dan kimia yang baik untuk tanaman pertanian, tetapi berdampak buruk terhadap kerusakan tanah gambut yang berkaitan dengan kebakaran lahan. Berbagai upaya telah dilakukan pemerintah untuk mencegah kebakaran lahan, diantaranya melalui kebijakan pembukaan lahan tanpa bakar. Pencegahan dan pengendalian kebakaran lahan pada areal perusahaan perkebunan dan kehutanan relatif lebih mudah. Aturan pelaksanaannya jelas sehingga segala bentuk penyimpangan akan mudah dikontrol dan pemberian sanksi dapat diterapkan dengan lebih tegas. Pengelolaan lahan tanpa pembakaran dapat dilakukan dengan membina masyarakat dari metode pembakaran liar ke pembakaran terkendali, dari pembakaran terkendali dibina lagi menjadi tanpa pembakaran lahan untuk mencapai pengelolaaan lahan gambut yang berkelanjutan.
