Abstract

This article discusses the reinterpretation effort of the Muslim feminist movement in Malaysia, Sisters in Islam (SIS,). The article looks at the effort of the group in reinterpreting some verses of the Qur’an and hadiths on the issue of women in marital relationship which in their view had been misinterpreted by Muslim male exegetes. Using the textual analysis method, the article examines some of the works written and commissioned by the association and its authors on this issue. In four sections, the article explores four works of the association on the following issues, namely (i) Are Muslim men allowed to beat their wives?, (ii) Guardianship law and Muslim women, (iii) hadith on women in marriage, and (iv) Islam and family planning or Muslim women’s reproductive rights. While the first and second parts discuss the issue of wife beating and guardianship law and Muslim women, the third and fourth parts examine hadith on women in marriage and Islam and family planning. Through its analysis of these works, the article concludes on the note that these works were mostly influenced by the works of Muslim feminist scholars such as Amina Wadud and Fatima Mernissi and as such contain controversial reinterpretations of the verses of the Qur’an and hadiths.

Abstract

Nursing science is based on a very broad theory. Nursing process is the method by which a concept is applied in nursing practice. It can be termed as an approach to solving the problem (problem- solving) that requires knowledge, techniques, and skills interpersonel which aim to meet the need of clients, families, and communities. The nursing process consists of five interconnected sequential stages, namely the assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The stages of the intellectual functions integrate problem-solving in a nursing define. Nursing process in general purpose is to rearrange the framework concept based on individual circumstances (client), families, and communities so that their needs can be fulfilled. Accountability (accountability) is accountable for behavior and its results are included in the scope of one's professional role as reflected in the periodic report in writing on the attitude and results. Nurses accountable to themselves, patients, profession, fellow employees and the society.

Abstract

As we know that higher education institutions (HEIs) have three main mandates—teaching, research, and extension. The first refers to the transmission and transaction of knowledge, skills and competencies to learners so as to equip them for their role in the employment market and society. The second refers to the critical role of advancing knowledge through research in different domains. The third refers to the institution reaching out to the community in which it is located, providing the community with a valuable contribution to social development. Outreach and engagement at the higher-education Institution is that aspect of teaching that enables learning beyond the campus walls. That aspect of research that makes what we discover useful beyond the academic community. That aspect of service that directly benefits the public. When the Islamic discourse comes under discussion, the concept should be applicable to the cultural discourse, the literary discourse, the artistic discourse and the information discourse, though the latter can be of more comprehensive nature and encompass all other levels of discourse, in such a way as to become for example the religious information discourse, the philosophical information discourse, the political information discourse, etc. In terms of using ICT or media, the content, again as mentioned before using all media forms, should seek to promote dialogue, understanding, co- existence and co-operation.

Abstract

Separating among the theory, practice, and 2social transformation in the context of science and movement is extremely dangerous and will only create significant imbalances. In the Islamic context, this separation is clearly contrary to the mission of Islam. Islam always links among faith, science, charity, and welfare in the creation of human life that is fair and humane. In other words, Islam links among the ideological belief, theory, practice, and social foundation, it is expected to further develop IHE to become religious and scientific laboratory by borrowing the term from Prof. Harun Nasution—as a creator of”modern mujtahid.” In the context of campus politic, the students can join the lecturers in a row of politicial interest, but it does not occur in rank of academic, research, and community empowerment. It is ironic, isn’t it! Further impact of the ”crisis” of this academic community, IHE does not have proudly intelectualism icon, whether in the aspects of thought or movement. The scientific nuances of PTAI are nearly alike, there is no academic character that stands out as its strength (uniqueness). ... a fact that we should admit that the academic climate and tradition at the IHE is still fragile, or we can infer that there is still unclear developed fundamental roots and science vision. The lecturers’ expertise cannot also academically be proven by the scientific work and authoritative thinking. The fragile academic tradition and vague science vision are called the "hanging intellectualism." Due to the lacking research routines and rarely new findings in IHE, they considerably can challenge the advance of science and implementation of religious values which eventually leads IHE to be just like as “speech institution” aimed to provide information and expand knowledge among university students, and promote the “truth” regarding religious doctrines among the society.
