In principle, the government's efforts to continue to advance education is as a part of 12 years educational development in Berangas village, East Pulau Laut district of Kotabaru regency. By requiring children to study up to 12 years, it is hoped that they will be able to find out what steps should be taken to implement totally. The approach used in this study was a qualitative approach with a case study. Sources of data were parents, students, principals, teachers and school committee as well as documents relating to the school and Berangas village. The results revealed that: (1) The role of 12 years education in Berangas village, East Pulau Laut district of Kotabaru regency, clarifies that this policy is made to develop education and improve the human quality in Indonesia, (2) the parents’ role in 12 years educationin Berangas village, East Pulau Laut district of Kotabaru regency finds a lot of advantages and disadvantages. It can be viewed from educational equity and completion of 12 years education, (3) The impact of free education can be measured by several variables including the completion of 12 years education in Berangas village, as well as schools’ quality improvement and the extent of the increasing participation of children to education, (4) The constraints of 12 years education in Berangas village did not run well; therefore, this policy has an impact on the achievement of 12 years education.Keywords: Parents’ Role, Children Participation

Pedagogical competencies include the capabilities to manage learners, to design and to implement teaching and learning process, to assess students’ achievement and to develop students’ potential actualization. The pedagogical competence of the social science teachersof SMPN 1 Haruyan, this research formulates the problems as follows: (1) How is the pedagogical competence of IPS teachers in designing the teaching and learning process of social science?, (2) How is the pedagogical competence of IPS teachersin conducting the teaching and learning process? (3) How is the pedagogical competence of IPS teachers in using the instructional media? and (4) How is the pedagogical competence of IPS teachersin conducting the evaluation for teaching and learning process .The research method used is descriptive qualitative conducted to the IPS teachers of SMPN 1 Haruyan.Based on the results this research shows that (1) the IPS teachers do not fully have the pedagogical competence in planning the teaching and learning process because they have never involved in identifying the students’ learning needs. (2) the IPS teachers do not fully have pedagogical competence in performing the teaching and learning process because they do not always carry out the teaching and learning process in accordance with the procedures in the RPP, (3) the pedagogical competence of IPS teachers in using instructional media is still lacking because only one teacher that sometimes use laptop, computer, LCD, speaker, and internet. (4) the IPS teachers do not always conducted the evaluation of teaching and learning process because they do not always carry out pre-test and post-test on each lesson.Key words: Pedagogical competency, Social Science Teachers

Understanding that the history lesson is rote learning resulted in a greater emphasis on verbal. Under these circumstances researchers offered the implementation of cooperative learning model type Time Game Tournament, which is a cooperative learning model in which there are elements of the game academic or weekly tournament to replace the individual test, so students do not feel bored because there is an element of the tournament. This research is a classroom action research conducted with 3 cycles. Each cycle consists of two meetings. It can be concluded: (1) The application of cooperative learning model TGT can be executed properly if the teacher can plan learning activities with good (2) Problems encountered in general can be overcome if the teacher has the willingness and ability to develop the profession (3) The application of the model TGT cooperative learning can enhance students' motivation is measured by ARCS motivational strategies that attention (attention), relevance (relevant), confidence (confidence) and satisfaction (satisfaction).Key words: History lesson, cooperative learning, Time game tournament, learning achievement

This study aims to determine the work spirit of lecture in Hulu Sungai Tengah. This study includes a quantitative descriptive research. Quantitative descriptive approach involves collecting data to answer several research questions related to the status of the study subjects were examined and denoted by using numbers. The data examined in this study is a tutor at Hulu Sungai Tengah, amounting to 30 tutors. Based on this research, work spirit of lecture in Hulu Sungai Tengah. In generally fall into either category, it can be evidenced by ownership category of each aspect. This is supported by advanced data, which is an average score for each aspect of the data is higher than the average edial. Most aspects contribute to the formation of tutors work spirit is a commitment (93%) and interest (70%) who claimed to have a high commitment and interest. Aspects of motivation is the most minor aspect in the formation work spirit of lectures in Hulu Sungai Tengah that only 37% had high motivation.Key words: Work spirit, and lecture

The study background is based on the social study subject condition in State Junior School 14 of third class students “A” Banjarmasin showing that the students’ achievment is low and does not reach the minimal completeness of study determined by school, namely 78. This study used action research method. Indeed, the research also used two cycles and every cycles contains two meetings. The data collection here uses observation whether for teacher’ activity or students’ activity, written test, and questionaire for students. The result is concluded that (1) the students’ achievment undergo progress of minimal completeness of study, namely 90,80; (2) students’ activity using STAD undergo progres; and (3) the students’ respond toward the use of STAD show that the students are interested in implimenting STAD. In a word, the teachers are hoped to use STAD as the alternative to increase the students’ achievment so that the students are interested in learning.Keywords: Activity, Achievment, Social Study Subject, and STAD Model

Ideally the relationship among teachers in a school is harmonious so that the teaching and learning process in the school can be well established. The purpose of this research was to determine the of cooperation among teachers, teachers perceptions on cooperative relationships in schools and the factors that affect the cooperative relationships among teachers in junior high school IT Babussalam Kuala Kapuas.This study used qualitative methods that took place in junior high school IT Babussalam Kuala Kapuas. The data sources consisted of 16 teachers, the selection of data sources were based on a purposive sampling technique. The results of this research showed that (1) in general the cooperation among PNS/GTD, GTY and GTT teachers at junior high school IT Babussalam Kuala Kapuas is adequately good, it could be seen through the teaching and learning process which has worked well all day and the other planned activities which have been implemented; (2) regarding the teachers perceptions on cooperation among teachers in junior high school IT Babussalam Kuala Kapuas, there are 12 teachers who have adequately good perception, two teachers who still have less perception, and two other teachers who have good perception; (3) the factors that affected the cooperation among GTD/PNS, GTY and GTT teachers at junior high school IT Babussalam Kuala Kapuas were communication, the existence of clear objectives, a sense of responsibility, mutual understanding, sincerity in work and mutual aids in performing the task, as well as trust among teachers. The learning process is a combination of scientific learning process which originally focused on the exploration, elaboration, and confirmation comes by observing, ask, try, reasoning, and this mengomunikasikan.Penelitian discuss geography learning model with a scientific approach to the two high schools in the city of Banjarmasin designated as a pilot project to implement the curriculum in 2013 the SMA SMA N 1 and N 2 Banjarmasin start of the school year 2013/2014. This study uses qualitative descriptive method and implemented at SMAN 1 and SMAN 2 Banjarmasin. The results showed that teachers' understanding of the scientific approach is not maximized so the impact on the application. However, teachers also know the purpose of scientific approaches used in the curriculum of 2013, which is to form the character of the students and make students more active. Besides scientific approach is also beneficial to stimulate students to use all the senses are owned in learning. Key words: Models of teaching. Geography, Scientific approach

The issue of this study is how is the competence of Social Studies Teachers at MTsN Barabai. This research objective is to describe the pedagogic competence, personal competence, professional competence, and social competence of social studies teachers at MTsN Barabai. The method of this study used descriptive qualitative approach, describing the competence of social studies teachers of MTsN Barabai: the pedagogic competence, personal competence, professional competence, and social competence. Data in this study were collected by using (1) questionnaires, (2) observation, (3) interview, and (4) documentation. This study did not use a sample, it means that all population of social studies teachers is involved to be investigated (total sampling). The result of the study showed that pedagogic competence of social studies teachers at MTsN Barabai is 3. 28 or 82. 00 categorized into good criteria. Personal competence is 3. 54 or 88.50 categorized into good criteria. Profesional competence is 2. 98 or 74. 50 categorized into sufficient criteria and for social competence is 3. 17 or 79. 25 categorized as good criteria. Therefore, it can be concluded that the competence of social studies teachers at MTsN Barabai is 3. 24 or 81. 00 which is categorized into good criteria. In order to improve teachers’ competence, social studies teachers of MTsN Barabai are suggested to improve their educational qualification by taking part in training activities. This Research told about the assumption what if these lessons are taught by professional teachers. In generally, the lessons of history will make students more eager, joyful and meaningful, so that the students know the significance of the history of the nation. The study used action research method during two cycles. The first cycle of research results from 27 states who attended the liveliness of the togetherness in the learning process in cycle 1 with an average value of 6.1 (enough), while in cycle 2 with an average value of 7.1 (good). Learning outcomes complete the first cycle yan 85.19%, while in the second cycle of the complete 96.15% .Ternyata after using the discussion an increase in activity and student learning outcomes. It shows that the lessons of history with discussion method will increase the activity and student learning outcomes in class XII IPS 3 SMAN 1 20011/20012 Tanjung school year.Key words: Activity, learning achievement, discuss method

The strong phenomenon in religious spirit of Tambak Anyar Ulu people in participating for the education in private Islamic Madrasah self-dependently without any foundation to help them and without expecting government assistance are some what has become something unique. The research method used was qualitative method that was used to portray the cultural phenomenon in a rural community, particularly the participation of people in Tambak Anyar Ulu in the field of private Madrasah. The findings of this study are: 1) The forms of religious spirit activities of people of Tambak Anyar Ulu in an effort to increase their participation in the field of private madrasah education. 2) Religious spirit of teachers and learners in Madrasah Auladil Tarbiyyatul Islam’s education. 3) Madrasah Tarbiyyatul Auladil Islam is a pure private madrasah. 4) The people of Tambak Anyar Ulu were motivated to participate in Islamic education in private madrasah of Auladil Tarbiyyatul Islam compared to their participation in state public schools. In conclusion, the result of this research shows that the people of Tambak Anyar Ulu have been proven to be actively participating for the education in private Islamic Madrasah with the religious spirit as its baseline.Key words: Religious spirit, education, and participating
