Abstract

BIPA Learning is an Indonesian language learning program specifically designed to provide language learning services for foreign students. In BIPA learning, teaching materials and learning strategies are specifically designed according to the learning needs of foreign students. BIPA students are students as speakers of other languages who have diverse cultural backgrounds and learning goals. Cultural diversity and learning objectives of BIPA students have implications for the difficulty in choosing appropriate materials and strategies for implementing BIPA learning. The suitability of the choice of materials and strategies with the needs of BIPA students can motivate students and improve learning effectiveness. Therefore, an adequate understanding of student characteristics, learning needs, and teaching materials are important aspects that need to be mastered by BIPA teachers.

Abstract

The skill of writing children's drama script must be in accordance with all children's lives. These skills are not easy for adults. Adults tend to force their minds on children. This happens because adults find it hard to think like children. This study aims to describe the application of the picture and picture method in writing children's drama scripts. There are 5 aspects that must be considered in writing children's drama scripts: uniqueness, creativity, interest, level of children's development, and the position of the drama script in the lives of children. These five aspects are the basis in the creation of ideas, themes, mandates, characters, disposition, setting, and plot of the children's drama script. These five aspects appear in the picture and picture method. The method can record all the activities of children so that children's drama scripts according to the uniqueness, creativity, interests, and level of development of children.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the cultural values contained in the folklore of the origin of the Karo district Payanderket.  Cultural values are contained in the contents of the Payanderket story and supporting theories.  This research uses descriptive analysis method.  Some steps taken to obtain and analyze this research are conducting interviews with sources, classifying sources obtained from the folklore of the origins of Payanderket and then applied in writing, then reviewed to determine the cultural value contained therein, to conclude the results of research  .  The data obtained is referred from various library sources and then grouped based on certain criteria.  The results showed that there were five cultural values namely, kinship values, religious values, legal values, conflict values, and compassion values.  Each value has a very deep meaning showing the authenticity of the folklore of the origin of the Karo Regency Payanderket.  By understanding and understanding the contents of the folklore of the origins of the Karo district Payanderket, it will be easier to obtain wisdom and learning the value of life from the folklore of the origin of the Payanderket Karo district.

Abstract

BIPA is Indonesian for foreign speakers, a program about learning Indonesian that specifically provides language learning for foreign students. BIPA learning includes learning strategies and teaching materials that are designed according to the level and needs of foreign students. BIPA students are students who come from outside Indonesia, who study Indonesian as their first language. Foreign students learning Indonesian can learn differently from each other. Different learning abilities will determine students will be at the appropriate level of language skills. BIPA learning aims to master four aspects of language skills, one of which is writing. In BIPA learning, learning materials and strategies are designed according to the levels and needs of foreign students. Therefore, understanding of the characteristics of Indonesian written BIPA students beginner at UM needs to be mastered by the instructor.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the knowledge of God in the text of Serat Sastra Gendhing.This research is a qualitative type. The source of the research data is Serat Sastra Gendhing text editing. The research data are words, phrases, clauses, and sentences that contain knowledge about God in the text of Serat Sastra Gendhing. Data is collected through a classification process; identification; inventory. Data were analyzed by hermeneutic studies through methods of reduction, interpretation, and conclusions. The results of research in the form of knowledge about God contained in the text of Serat Sastra Gendhing as follows. God is in rasa, God is known in the union between rasa and pangrasa, knowledge of God involves all aspects of human beings. Knowledge about God is not only reflected in worship, but also in the rasa, pikiran, and perbuatan that implement the attributes of God.

Abstract

The era of the industrial revolution 4.0 provides many challenges for students. These challenges not only focus on cognitive intelligence, but also intelligence in acting primarily in responding to cultural diversity. Cultural literacy is a basic skill that must be mastered by students that can be integrated into learning in schools. Through cultural literacy, students can increase knowledge and skills in understanding and behaving towards Indonesian culture as a national identity. This study aims to describe the strengthening of cultural literacy in Indonesian language learning through narrative texts that are loaded with local wisdom. This research is a qualitative research with literature study method. The strategy of cultural literacy in Indonesian language learning in schools can be done by providing narrative texts containing local wisdom as teaching media. The narrative text can be in the form of fiction narrative and non-fiction narrative. Culture, customs, and philosophy of life of the people contained in the narrative text containing local wisdom can increase students' knowledge about the culture of the region that they do not know yet. The narrative text of local wisdom contains noble values that can increase students' ability in responding to cultural diversity.

Abstract

Humans are social creatures who have the nature to live together, side by side, and they need one to each other to achieve physically and mentally peace in order to share the joys and sorrows of living life, therefore they create a marriage. Marriage is a sacred event that binds man and woman, involving two families, both man and woman. In the use of language it is believed that the meaning is very closely related to the form. However, each language has its own characteristics and uniquenessess. Likewise, the Madurese language has special characteristics and uniquenessess. One of the uniqueness is manifested in the form of Madurese marriage tradition. The tradition of Madurese marriages has several stages, the first stage is namely engagement (abhâkalan), the second stage is marriage, and the last namely is post-marriage. In this study, researcher used a qualitative descriptive approach with the method of listening. This study aims to see how the speech acts that appears in the speech of the Madurese in the Madurese marriage tradition in the millennial era.

Abstract

Character building is one of the main goals in education. In addition to educating the nation, education is also expected to be the right instrument in character building, both theoretically and practically. A nation that has good character is a nation that implements noble values that grow from the nation itself in various aspects, economic, social, cultural, and also political aspects. There are many media that can be used in building national character, one of which is through learning Indonesian. The purpose of writing this article is to determine the role of the Indonesian language as a medium in instilling the character of the Indonesian nation. The method in this research is descriptive qualitative method with literature study. Data was collected using documentation techniques, namely collecting several research articles on the role of Indonesian language learning in instilling character values. The data analysis found (1) the implementation of Indonesian language learning as an effort to build national character (2) Indonesian language learning is able to foster a national spirit, (3) Indonesian language learning is able to foster a sense of love for the country. This paper discusses the meaning of the word "peace" in the phrase "at peace with COVID". Determination of meaning is based on the context of the phrase "at peace with COVID" or a contextual meaning. Based on the context of the situation, the word peace in the phrase "at peace with COVID" does not mean making an agreement with each other, or stopping to attack each other as in the KBBI. Rather, it means trying to adjust to the new situation so that you can feel peace.

Abstract

Meaning is the liaison of language with the outside world agreed by the speakers so that they can understand each other. On May 7, 2020 through the President's Presidential Secretariat YouTube channel, President Joko Widodo gave a speech on the implementation of the PSBB. In the speech, the President said "berdamai dengan COVID". The phrase becomes polemic in the community. Some people consider the word “berdamai” is not suitable to use to deal with COVID. Some other groups say that the word “berdamai” in the phrase "berdamai dengan COVID" is the correct use. This paper discusses the meaning of the word "berdamai" in the phrase "berdamai dengan COVID". Determination of meaning is based on the context of the phrase "Berdamai dengan COVID" or contextual meaning. Based on the context of the situation, the word “berdamai” in the phrase "berdamai dengan COVID" does not mean mutually agreeing, or stopping to attack each other as found in the KBBI. Rather it means trying to adjust to new circumstances so that you can feel peace.

Abstract

In everyday life, humans need to interact with other people. Conversation is one form of such interaction. Conversations are formed by two or more people. Conversations that occur can be in the form of formal conversations or informal conversations. In the conversation carried out, the language varies from each individual from various regions. This study discusses the variety of language in terms of speakers in class VIII students of SMPN 1 Kwanyar Bangkalan Madura. The uniqueness of this study with other research is that this study discusses the existence of language variations that exist within the district area. Only from one district but able to produce many language variations. The purpose of this study was to describe the variety of language in terms of speakers in informal communication among class VIII students of SMPN 1 Kwanyar Bangkalan Madura. The approach in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data source of this research is the eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kwanyar Bangkalan Madura. The data in this study were all utterances spoken by grade VIII students of SMPN 1 Kwanyar Bangkalan Madura. Data collection used observation techniques, proficient listening techniques, interview techniques, recording techniques, and note taking techniques. Data analysis techniques using data reduction methods, data presentation, and conclusions. The validity of the data used investigator triangulation. The results showed that in informal communication among eighth grade students of SMPN 1 Kwanyar, there were variations in the language in terms of speakers, there were variations in language based on dialect, idiosyncrasy, gender, and age.
