Abstract

This study aims to describe the competency-based training (CBT) model in the workplace in vocational high school (VHS) in Indonesia. Students of VHS conduct learning in school and at workplace/industry. A good CBT model will produce skilled vocational graduates, which will reduce unemployment. The method used in this study is research and development by Borg and Gall. Research steps include: preliminary study, development, and testing of students, teachers, and industry mentors totaling 79 people. The finding of this research is that the CBT model implemented in the workplace must meet the following steps: (1) the student must have basic skills as stated in the skill passport, (2) the students choose the location of the practice which already has the memorandum of understanding with the school, (3) VHS assigns students to perform industrial work practice according to their approval from industry, (4) competency based assessment can be done through real work, (5) supervisor industry as an external assessor to test students, and (6) competencies that have been mastered by students recorded in skill passport.

Abstract

This study has been done to get a purpose in finding the integrated teaching practice in the hotel accommodation and the traveling tourism program in the vocational high school. The teaching practice developed includes: (1) communication through telephone; (2) the hotel industry and tourism; (3) reservation and transfer (check-in/out); (4) processing room reservations and travel tickets; (5) processing the transactions and financial statements; and (6) perform clerical and administrative office procedures. This study uses research and development, the stages of research and data collection were conducted at SMK Negeri 4 and SMK Negeri 6 Yogyakara. The development of stage was tried out in Edotel Kenai Yogyakarta. The research and development of integrated model of practicing learning in the skills competency of the hotel accommodation and the traveling tourism program in vocational tourism school produce graduates who are competent in their field and are able to be a highly skilled workforce, independent and ready to use. The students are able to demonstrate the quality and performance in terms of personal attitude: (1) think logically, fast and precise in determining any motion and actions to be undertaken; (2) behave wisely by not leaving ethics and manners at every decision taken; (3) act to determine the steps to be done that can be accounted for. The result of this research to find out the integrated learning practice process proved to be very suitable and effective in improving students' competence in obtaining buzzing standard work practices in the world of business and industry. The applying this model is expected tourism vocational graduates can fill the share of employment in the industrial world and fill labor needs in the community.

Abstract

Employability skills for students are believed to reduce the mismatch between the supply of vocational high school graduates and the demand of job vacancy from industry. For more than three centuries, the gap between the vocational high school and the workplace has become people?s concern. It seems that this issue will not end in the near future, rather will be more interesting to be studied because of the complexity of the relationship between the two sectors. The objective of this study, therefore, is to discover of how well employability skills is adopted in the school level curriculum (KTSP) of vocational high schools in Indonesia. To achieve the research?s objective, the content analysis to the curriculum was applied. The analysis of KTSP in the subject of entrepreneurship (ENT) and the computer and information management (KKPI) discovers the limited concern and the incomprehensive areas of employability skills adopted. The research findings demand the government to improve the content of employability skills in the curriculum, especially in dealing with the high unemployment rate of vocational high school graduates.

Abstract

This study aims to: (1) generate e-learning-based practice learning model of Server Administration which is valid, useful, exciting, and can be applied to improve the learning outcomes of students in the subject of Administration Server; (2) determine the effectiveness of the implementation of Google Classroom on practice learning Administration Server; (3) monitor the learners in the learning process Server Administration practices inside and outside learning. This study is a Research and Development (R & D) to the conceptual model and using research procedures Borg and Gall. Results obtained eligibility percentage of media experts of 77.5% and 78.5% matter experts with criteria are eligible. Implementation level learning model captured very well at 91.66%. The level of attractiveness of the learners XII TKJ 1 amounted to 83.9% and XII TKJ 2 of 85.1% with very interesting criteria. The results of the analysis of the primary field trials assessing the effectiveness aspect, the value of the students after using the learning model and the overall increase learners or 100% to reach KKM with a limit value of 75, so it can be said to be a beneficial learning model to increase the number of learners.

Abstract

Education in Vocational High Schools (VHS) aims to equip learners with the attitude, knowledge, and skills to be ready for work, absorbed in the world of work, or entrepreneurship. To fulfill the objective, the competence that must be possessed by the students must be in accordance with the needs in the world of work and in the business world. To fulfill the competence, the learning in VHS must be competency-based. In line with the competency and competency-based learning needs, it also needs an integrated learning between adaptive subjects and productive subjects. Integrated learning is modeled by; (1) conducting curriculum study on basic competence of adaptive subjects, (2) inserting productive basic competency subjects on adaptive subjects. After the integrated learning model is prepared then the learning model applied to the class is a competency-based learning model.
