Abstract

The availability of modules to support basic electronic practices based on virtual laboratories has not yet met the needs. The purpose of this development research is to produce basic electronic practice learning devices based on the PSPICE application program. The development procedure uses ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). ADDIE is used to direct the design process as specified. Product performance was tested using ongoing formative evaluation. The product feasibility test uses a comparative analysis of the results of the PSPICE experiment against the theory. The results show that all modules developed can display the same characteristics as their theoretical character. The results show that the modules have very good performance. Modules are suitable for use as a medium for basic electronic practice using PSPICE-based virtual laboratories. The products are in the form of electronic circuits with 31 schematic PSPICE formats. Product results to support basic electronic practices covering topics: capacitor filling and discharging, RC circuits, diode characteristics, wave forming circuits, rectifier circuits, voltage clamp, voltage circuits, transistor characteristics, and amplifier transistor.

Abstract

The recognition of Arabic handwriting is a challenging problem to solve. The similarity among the fonts appears as a problem in the recognition processing. Various styles, shapes, and sizes which are personal and different across individuals make the Arabic handwriting recognition process even harder. In this paper, the data used are Arabic handwritten images with 101 sample characters, each of which is written by 15 different handwritten characters (total sample 101x15) with the same size (81x81 pixels). A well-chosen feature is crucial for making good recognition results. In this study, the researcher proposed a method of new features extraction to recognize Arabic handwriting. The features extraction was done by grabbing the value of similar features among various types of font writing, to be used as a new feature of the font. Then, City Block was used to compare the obtained feature to other features of the sample for classification. The Average accuracy value obtained in this study was up to 82%.

Abstract

When an induction motor starts up, it draws a large current, which can damage it and cause a voltage dip effect that interferes with other electrical equipment. The machine, however, has numerous applications, particularly in the industrial sector, due to its low cost, robustness, and dependability. Induction motor performance must be improved to reduce starting current surges and protect against overcurrent. Thyristors are used in the developed system to control the voltage level. The microcontroller's trigger pulse causes a ramp-up in supply voltage, resulting in a soft-starting effect in a 1-phase induction motor. The system detects overcurrent using the popular current sensor module. This research results in a high-performing soft starter and overcurrent detector. When compared to supplying the motor directly online, the soft-starter unit can reduce the starting current by 55%. Meanwhile, the embedded overcurrent detector performs admirably, accurately detecting motor overcurrent and cutting off the power supply when the motor reaches overcurrent.

Abstract

Vehicles are one of the important things in supporting the mobility of people and goods quickly, safely and comfortably. Cars are one of the most widely used types of vehicles because they can accommodate many people or goods. This study aims to make a prototype of an organized parking lot so that it is easier for car users to find parking. The system in this study uses a NodeMCU microcontroller as the controller. Infrared sensors are used as sensors to detect the state of the parking area. The system has two outputs in the form of an LED and a website. Infrared sensors can detect all parking area conditions, LEDs run according to parking area conditions, and the website can be used as remote monitoring of the parking area of this system. Parking area users can easily find an empty parking area.

Abstract

Fans are electrical equipment that people often need in their daily lives. Fans that are available in the market generally use a manual button to turn it on and off. It is necessary to develop a system so that the fan can be turned on automatically without the need to press a button on the fan. The system designed in this study has PIR, LM35 and Ultrasonic sensor devices, while the control uses an Arduino Uno microcontroller. PIR testing is done by measuring the sensor output for each input object movement. The LM35 sensor was tested by comparing the temperature measurement results obtained with the measurement results using a standardized digital thermometer. The ultrasonic sensor is tested by comparing the detected distance reading to the actual distance using a ruler placed under the sensor. Overall system testing is done by observing the fan rotation for each given input parameters. The criteria used are if there is human movement and the room temperature is above 28 0C and the object distance is less than 16 cm, then fan 1 and fan 2 rotate simultaneously. Another criterion, if the temperature is below 28 0C, then fan 1 turns off even though there is human movement and fan 2 remains on because the object distance is limited to less than 16 cm. The results showed that the system had worked well, namely fan 1 and fan 2 had behaved according to the specified criteria. This system is expected to be used to assist humans in operating the fan automatically based on room temperature, human movement, and human distance.
