Abstract

Abstract

School is a part of the environment where the learning process takes place, in addition to that the school environment is also a place of education. The learning process is expected to be a habit of self, and from the habituation of the self becomes an attitude or character and further develops as a culture. Thus the school environment can be used as a barometer in forming habits called attitudes or characters. In a school environment where residents are educated and educated people it should be easier to shape the character and culture of the school's inhabitants. The development of these characters with the hope of course towards a good or positive.Related to the culture of managing waste at Adiwiyata School, in the culinary department of SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta, a school which is a very strategic environment as a place of learning and education for students in order to foster a sense of love for the environment, one of which is by utilizing the organic waste that is produced by many departments namely chicken eggshell waste. Chicken eggs are one of the foods that are widely used to process food in the culinary majors of SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta. Various types of processed foods use chicken eggs as the main ingredient or as supporting material or additives in processed foods. The need for chicken eggs is quite large every day, causing an abundance of chicken eggshell waste in the culinary majors of SMK Negeri 4 Yogyakarta. The practice of utilizing chicken eggshell waste as a vegetable nursery media by culinary students who initially only aimed at reducing the amount of trash in the school environment turned out to get other benefits, namely egg shells can also fertilize vegetable crops.

Abstract

The need to inculcate generic skills into graduates to meet the demands of the ever dynamic workplace has been of concern to stakeholders in education and the world of work. This concept of a global competitiveness, and generic skills were reviewed and discussed. This paper also examined the importance of generic skills; and factors influencing generic skills development among graduates were highlighted. This factors calls for different approaches and shift in pedagogy in developing generic skills for global competitiveness which include: change in instructional delivery, from the traditional method of instruction to cooperative learning model. It also involves integration and contextualized learning, creating world class spaces for learning, enhanced utilization of technology and inclusive learning and teaching environment for producing global workers in building technology.

Abstract

The availability of modules to support basic electronic practices based on virtual laboratories has not yet met the needs. The purpose of this development research is to produce basic electronic practice learning devices based on the PSPICE application program. The development procedure uses ADDIE (analysis, design, development, implementation, evaluation). ADDIE is used to direct the design process as specified. Product performance was tested using ongoing formative evaluation. The product feasibility test uses a comparative analysis of the results of the PSPICE experiment against the theory. The results show that all modules developed can display the same characteristics as their theoretical character. The results show that the modules have very good performance. Modules are suitable for use as a medium for basic electronic practice using PSPICE-based virtual laboratories. The products are in the form of electronic circuits with 31 schematic PSPICE formats. Product results to support basic electronic practices covering topics: capacitor filling and discharging, RC circuits, diode characteristics, wave forming circuits, rectifier circuits, voltage clamp, voltage circuits, transistor characteristics, and amplifier transistor.

Abstract

Vocational education has an important role in preparing students to have the skills needed by the industry. This study aims to analyze the needs of the bakery industry to develop a learning model of Bakepreneurship. This study using descriptive qualitative approach by analyzing the needs in the aspect of 1) student, 2) teacher, 3) curriculum, and 4) industry. Based on the analysis results of the stakeholders, we found an idea to develop a Bakepreneurship learning model that can be used as a reference in pastry and bakery learning in the vocational school. Bakepreneurship learning model is a learning model that combines comprehensively aspects of soft skills, hard skills, and entrepreneurship that aim to equip students with the competencies needed by the bakery industry.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find out what vocational skills education was implemented in SMP Muhammadiyah Majenang, a private junior high school in Cilacap, Central Java, and to find out how to develop vocational skills education to foster the students’ entrepreneurial intention. It is expected that this vocational skill can foster entrepreneurial intention to the students themselves early, to make them the young entrepreneurs. This research was a research and development with a qualitative approach. Research and development were modified from the ten steps of Borg and Gall, consisting of three stages, namely: preliminary study, model development, and model testing. Participants involved included the principal, representative of the curriculum deputy, teachers, advisers, and students. The data collection techniques used questionnaires, observation, interviews, and document studies. The results of the study found the existence of extracurricular activities in the form of self-development game activities. Self-development game is indicated by the achievement in certain fields. The results of the development found that the existence of agricultural extracurricular activities in the form of chili cultivation could foster the students’ entrepreneurial intentions. We found that the positive attitudes and abilities of entrepreneurship were possessed by students, including selling chili crops and chili seeds to the general public. The program for developing extracurricular activities also produces vocational skills in the form of students who independently plant seeds other than chili and inspire students to sell other seeds.

Abstract

The study is to determine the quality of workshop practice and media learning of light vehicle engineering in Vocational High Schools in terms of (1) the facilities and infrastructure of laboratory and (2) the use of instructional media practices of light vehicle engineering. The collection of data used the method of observation, documentation, interview. This type of qualitative research is a case study approach, involving five internship supervisor teachers and workshop managers. The results of the study showed that the practice of Automotive Engine Repair with spacious 84 m2, Automotive Chassis Repair with a spacious 72 m2, Automotive Electrical Repair with spacious 24 m2 had not yet met the standard minimum as suggested at the Minister of Education and Culture Regulation number 34 of 2018. The use of practical learning media was less effective because: (1) the comparison of study groups with the area of the workshop was not balanced, (2) the existence of some practicum subjects scheduled in the same day resulted in the students were practicing simultaneously at one time, and (3) the lack of practicum facilities.
