Abstract

Study the influence of surfactants on the particle diameter, viscosity and polydispersity index of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles in manufacturing (SLN) of the cocoa butter. Intended use of surfactants (lecithin and sodium dodecyl sulfate) in generating particle diameter, viscosity and polydispersity index suitable for the manufacture of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles of cocoa butter. Preparation of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles made by homogenizing a mixture of cocoa fat, distilled water and a surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate, and lecithin) using Ultra Thurax, speed of 1500 rpm with some formulations. Further characterized by means of Particle size analyzer (PSA). The results showed that Formula Solid Lipid Nanoparticles and surfactant lecithin produced polydispersity index is 0302-0389 and is monomodal compared to surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate with a higher polydispersity index is above 0.5 for 0848-1215 and are polymodal. For lecithin surfactant particle diameter on particle diameter 426.2 - 654.3 nm corresponding to the diameter of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles range is 50-1000 nm. While the surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate particles with a diameter of 2813.5 to 3976.7 nm diameter beyond the range of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles, on the use of surfactant lecithin viscosity of 0.8980 and 0.8878 and the surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate at 0.8878.

Abstract

Palm oil empty fruit bunches (EFB) waste contains ±45% cellulose  which can be hydrolyzed into simple sugars using hydrochloric acid (HCl) and fermented into ethanol. The objective of this study was to determine the optimum HCl concentration and hydrolysis time for ethanol production. HCl concentration level used was  2N and 3N, and the variation of hydrolysis time period was 2 hourse and 3 hourse. The hydrolysis product was then fermented using Saccharomyces cerevisae. The results showed that the optimum condition of  EFB hydrolysis was obtained from concentration 3N HCl  during 2 hourse process with 16,34% of reducing sugar. The optimum ethanol content was 0.30% which was abtainst after 3 day process. Mean while the optimum of  carbon dioxide (CO2) was reached on the three day.

Abstract

Research on used Of wood vinegar from palm oil shell as hand sanitizer antiseptic has been done . Liquid smoke from dry destilate proces at 200-3000C has 9,03 percent yield and an average  pH of  3,8 . From the analysis of the chemical constituents and different distillation temperatures produced different compounds and can be grouped in group alcohol, phenol and acetic acid. Results of analysis of liquid smoke as an antiseptic hand wash with distilled treatment at 80-160 0C temperature for all treatments did not have the power of E. coli inhibitory to bacteria, salmonella and staphilococus aureus. Distillation at 160-1800C in the ratio of liquid smoke and alcohol (40: 60) has the ability to average power resistor 8 (medium category) of bacteria Staphilococus. aureus and distilled at a temperature of 180-2000C has the ability to average power resistor 8 (medium category) of the type of salmonella bacteria, and for the purification of sedimentation and filtration by comparison liquid smoke: alcohol (50:50) has the ability to average power resistor 8 (medium category) against bacterial strains staphilococus aureus and comparison of liquid smoke and alhohol (60:40) has the ability to average power resistor 7 (medium category) to staphilococus.aureus bacteria and original liquid smoke without purification treatment of the inhibition of bacteria has the ability to average 16.5 (high category) on E. coli bacteria with the ability of the inhibition on average 13 (high category) of the salmonella bacteria and has the ability to the average inhibition of 10.5 (high category) of the Stapohilococus aureus bacteria.

Abstract

Lactic Acid Bacteria (LAB) were isolated from cocoa beans three days fermentation Criollo variety. That were eleven isolates, all of isolates were named Gr3 (1, 2, 3, 4,…,11). All of isolates were tested to antimicrobial activity against indicator pathogenic bacteria (Escherichia coli  14237, Staphylococcus aureus NBRC 13276, Bacillus subtilis BTCCB 612, Listeria monocytogenesis dan Salmonella typhii),  than that was chosen potential one isolate had highest inhibition zones to pathogens.  One potential isolate was done determination weigh protein bacteriocin by Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Result of antimicrobial activity test showed that, 11 isolates had inhibition zone to pathogenic bacteria, that were 7 mm till 11 mm at 48 hours observation. That was found one isolate potential, it was Gr3.7.  Gr3.7 isolate had high inhibition zones to against growth pathogenic bacteria, that was 11mm to Salmonella typhii and Listeria monocytogenesis at 48 hours observation. Determination crude weight protein test was estimated 24 kDa protein by using SDS-PAGE.  To Found purifying weight protein bacteriocin must be done purification processing. Probiotic candidate (Gr3.7) can be used as natural antibiotics, because it had positive responce to against Salmonella typhii.  Salmonella typhii was known pathogen in intestine,  beside that it was used as food preservative, because it had positive response to against Listeria monocytogenesis.

Abstract

There is strong correlation between antioxidant activity and hepatoprotector activities in vitro. Macaranga tanarius (MT) is abundant at East Kalimantan and the stems were proven to have antioxidant activity, but efficacy as hepatoprotector in vitro and active compounds is not known. The aim of this research is to examine the active fraction of M. tanarius as antioxidant and or hepatoprotector, also it’s active compounds. MT simplicia were macerated with methanol at room temperature for 3 days and repeated three times. The extracts were fractionated with increasing solvent polarity starting from n-hexane, dichloromethane, ethyl acetate (EtOAc), n-butanol and water. Crude extract and the five fractions were tested in vitro for antioxidant activity using radical scavenging activity assay using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhidrazyl and hepatoprotector  activity. Chromatogram profiles were done for the most active fraction using thin-layer chromatography silica gel 60 F254. Results showed the strongest antioxidant activity was EtOAc fraction with IC50 values (6.24 + 0.96) mg/mL and contained secondary metabolites polyphenols that proven having antioxidant activity. The strongest in vitro hepatoprotector activity was also EtOAc fraction with IC50 values (99 + 2) mg/mL. It can be  concluded that EtOAc fraction of MT stems had antioxidant and hepatoprotector activity in vitro and contained secondary metabolites polyphenols with antioxidant activity.

Abstract

Has been conducted by making the hair crackers rengginang and applied to operations "YANI JAYA" in Samarinda. The goal is to increase the production of crackers rengginang, more hygienic product, dry crackers more evenly, does not require large tracts of land, and drying does not depend on weather conditions. Drying crackers previous rengginang still utilize the sun's heat, so the drying process depends on the weather conditions. The design of the dryer consists of: length, width, height (80, 80, 124) cm. Drying rack has a length, width, height (78, 50, 5) cm, with 5 levels of drying rack. Furnace has a length, width, height (77, 48, 9) cm, heat conductive medium used is gravel. Drying capacity is 7 kg or 490 grain mold, and it takes 8 hours to dry crackers with temperature tendency rengginang 40-60 OC. Total fuel consumption gar once the drying process is 1.2 kg. Based on the results of laboratory tests on the water content of crackers rengginang on each rack is the first shelf 8.26%, 8.28% the second shelf, third shelf 8.31%, 8.26% rack fourth and fifth racks 8.25 %, and crackers rengginang expand when fried. From the calculation of the economic value of the point of techno recoup their production by 29.27%, 94.27% return on investment in, and the turnover time of 1 year 1 month.

Abstract

Research analysis of the tensile strength of the weld on the battery to power an electric current battery has been done. The goal is to determine the tensile strength of welded joints using welding batteries with a variable flow battery, the thickness and diameter of the test material. Research methodology, including: (1) assemble welding battery (battery consists of 3 pieces) with the desired total current is 60 A, 80 A and 120 A, (2) arranging charging the battery  and welding handle  bar positive and negative, (3 ) welding on iron plate with thickness 4mm, 6mm and 8 mm with a current 60 A, 80 A and 120 A, (4) on an iron rod diameter 8mm, 10mm, and 12 mm with a current 60 A, 80 A and 120 A. The results showed the shape of specimens of iron, welding tools and strong currents thickness / diameter significantly influence the tensile specimens welded with welding tools batteries. The best treatment to iron rod the current round is 60 A at 8 mm diameter tensile yield amounted to 11.65 kg/mm2. The best treatment for the current iron plate is 80 A at 8 mm thick plate produce a tensile strength of 38.2 kg/mm2. From the calculation of economic, investment and operational costs-making tools, welding batteries cheaper than welding inventer and welding dynamo. However, welding batteries can not be regulated the size of the battery current.

Abstract

This  aim of research was  to find the optimum conditions for the  extraction process of “buah merah” oil that produce  optimum  β-cryptoxanthin content. The treatments of extraction process are steaming at 800C, autoclave at 1210C for 30 and   60 minutes respectely, and storing in refrigerator at -50C for one night,  then pressed and centrifugated. “Buah merah” oil produced from those  treatments was tested for β-cryptoxanthin content.  The “buah merah” oil with highest content of β-cryptoxanthin is conducted  characteristics test based on  water content, FFA, foreign matterial, PAHs and test for stability of total carotenoids, α and β cryptoxhantin of “buah merah” oil that stored in various conditions  of  temperature (40C, 250C, 350C), storage (dark and light using light flouresense lamp 10 W, type of packaging (brown glass bottle, soft capsules in  PVC bottle), and extraction methods (traditional and modern). Observations was conducted every week.for 8 weeks The results showed that extraction process of  “buah meraht”oil  that produce   of β-cryptoxanthin content with highest yield is  extraction process using  autoclave heating at 121° C for 1 hour  that result  35% yield and  20.78% β-cryptoxanthin content. The type of packaging that resulted the best stability of consentration of total carotenoid α and β-cryptoxanthin in in the “buah merah” oil is packaging that use double package of capsule  (primary packaging) and PVC bottle (secondary packaging) and store in dark condition  with temperature of 4 ° C.

Abstract

Bawang tiwai (Eleutherine americana Merr.) contains phytochemicals such as alkaloids, flavonoids, phenolics, glycosides, steroids, saponins, anthocyanins, protein and carbohydrate. The results showed that bawang tiwai has potential to be applied as food preservatives, antioxidants and coloring agents. Bawang tiwai extracts application opportunities in industries such as bread and sauce as a preservative, antioxidant coconut oil and color syrup and jelly. Phenol compound acts as a preservative and antioxidants, while anthocyanins coloring agents.
