Abstract

Digital Democracy in Popular Culture: Meme and Political Critics. Meme has become a popular subculture that cannot be separated from the internet sphere. Meme have become an agent of free speech that allows a discourse to be communicated, changed, dispersed without the need of conventional conversation. The upcoming Presidential Election 2019 in Indonesia has become one of the discourses that often, using memes as its agent. Memes, while being a medium of expressed humor and satire, also become a media critic of Indonesian democracy practices. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection method through observation and literature studies. This journal sees the meme of Nurhadi-Aldo as a discourse of political criticism wrapped in comedy and satire in response to the 2019 Presidential Election using structuralism approach from Anthony Giddens.

Abstract

Kitabisa.com is an online crowdfunding platform in Indonesia. The success of its campaign cannot be separated from the role of fundraising strategies which are carried out through story-based publications. On that basis, this research was conducted by examining the storytelling techniques with visual approach on Kitabisa.com campaign. This research is a descriptive qualitative research with data collection method through observation and literature studies. After collecting data through purposive sample criteria, three types of campaigns were obtained, all of which fall into the category of Medical and Health Assistance. The three types of examined campaigns, then categorized and interpreted in matrix analysis. Through analytical studies, it was found that the audience's emotions effectively were built through persuasive narratives with psychodynamic strategies. The results of this study can be used as a reference in creating a similar fundraising campaign.

Abstract

This “BLANC À NOIR” ready to wear collection is inspired by the Paprika Design’s installation art, “Trous de Mémoire (Memory Holes)”. This installation was installed at Aires Libres for 1 month on September 2013. There are 6 large scale light boxes. It invites the viewers to walk down a memory lane, but there are tricks and humorous discoveries to be made, indicating that what is forgotten is not always lost. This collection is adapting the rectangular shape of the installation as the silhouette, the installation’s colors, black and white, and Trous de Mémoire Installation Art’s pictures and writings motif as a reference to make every looks. Also, adjusted with Trend Forecasting Grey Zone 2017-18 theme Vigilant and sub theme Structural-Cermat Terukur-Ekspos Teknik Sambung. The Target market are women with age range 27-35 years old, live in Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Jakarta, artistic, like visiting art event in Indonesia, a public figure and fashion trendsetter.

Abstract

Paper waste reduction efforts through digitalization. Waste is an endless problem to dealt with, through the ages, humankind necessities have escalated, and with the escalation of humankind necessities, the waste produced by humankind has also escalated. The more advanced a civilization, the more waste is produced. Paper waste is one of the wastes. Paper has becoming a basic need for human which is used as a media for communicating and exchanging information. But to produce paper, a large number of trees had to be cut down, alongside of the byproduct waste come out from producing it. Also, the harmful effect of unhappiness of the paper waste which is one of the main causes of the global warming. Therefore, an act of reducing paper waste is needed. Digitalization is one of the options to reduce paper waste. The definition of digitalization is a process to convert printed form, audio form, and video form to digital form. The purpose of digitalization is to aim for efficiency and optimization for storage purpose, security purpose.

Abstract

This study was designed to describe the meaning of the Kendra Paramita illustration works. Qualitative descriptive research with material objects in the form of colors, illustrations, layout, and typography as well as formal objects that have meaning in Kendra Paramita's work that can be studied using Charles Sanders Peirce's semiotic theory using icons, indexes, and symbols. The results showed that: (1) Analysis of Kendra Paramita's illustrated works seen from the study of semiotics. From the analysis that has been done, Kendra's illustrative works always show a relationship or relation between signs. Icons, indexes, and symbols both in color, shape and context always explain the meaning contained in each work. With the intention, describing it can be presented implied content in each work following the information sent will be more easily captured and digested by each reader. (2) Most of the issues raised through Kendra's illustrative work include issues: social, political, and economic that occur in Indonesia.
