Abstract

Objective: Scientific reasoning is one of the most essential skills in learning biology and can be trained by integrating local wisdom. The lack of learning media that facilitates student learning causes low students' scientific reasoning skills. The development of learning media that integrates local wisdom is needed to train students' scientific reasoning. Method: The e-Book development procedure uses the ASSURE model which consists of six stages namely (1) analyze learner characteristics, (2) state objectives, (3) select, modify or design media, (4) utilize media, (5) requires learner responses, dan (6) evaluate. Data collection was collected by validation, observation, tests, and student response questionnaires. The One-Group Pretest-Posttest Design was implemented at Muhammadiyah 10 High School Surabaya for the 2022/2023 school year.  Results: The results showed that (1) the developed e-book was valid with an average validity value of 93%, (2) learning implementation was 92.5% at the first meeting, and 81% at the second meeting with the high category, (3 ) student learning outcomes in the scientific reasoning indicator increased to 88% in probabilistic reasoning, 82% in theoretical reasoning, 80% in correlation reasoning and 79% in proportional reasoning, as well as the n-Gain calculation results which with high criteria and (4) positive student responses to the use of e-books. So that the developed e-book is feasible to use in terms of local wisdom potential, e-book validity, practicality, and e-book effectiveness.  Novelty: The development of an e-book on ecosystem material with the integration of local wisdom from fish ponds to train scientific reasoning skills has never been done before.

Abstract

Digital literacy is essential in educational field and digital society, but it has received less attention in schools. Objective:  This paper will analyze the effectiveness of work and energy teaching materials through guided discovery learning to improve students' digital literacy.  Method: This study applied a one-group pretest and posttest design on 26 secondary level students of grade X. Data collection techniques used digital literacy questionnaire instruments, learning outcomes tests, and interviews. Results: The results showed that the n-gain of students’ digital literacy and learning outcomes were medium criteria and high criteria, respectively. Thus, the developed physics teaching materials through guided discovery learning are effective for improving students' digital literacy. Novelty: Previous studies have not used guided discovery on work and energy teaching material to train students' digital literacy.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to determine, analyze, and identify the effectiveness of the My Alazka Application learning media on the chemistry learning outcomes of 10th grade pupils. Method: This study used a quantitative method for experimental research. The subject of this study was a 28 Student in 10th grade, in accordance to the pretest-posttest design with a single group. This research uses instruments such as questionnaires that are used once before the investigation, known as the pre-test, and once after the experiment, known as the post-test. Result: Based on the Descriptive N-Gain Score data output, The data indicates the mean N-Gain score among students in 10th grade is 63.3074 or 0.63 which is included in the "moderate".  The use of My Alazka can significantly enhance the effectiveness of the learning process in communicating messages and lesson content, also learning outcomes of chemistry subjects for student in 10th grade. Novelty: My Alazka application can be an alternative solution for educators and students during the implementation of the learning processes to improve chemistry learning outcomes for 10th grade student.

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to test the effectiveness of Moodle-based Digital Assessment as an assessment instrument to measure scientific literacy possessed by junior high school students in Jember and Probolinggo, Indonesia especially on environmental pollution. Method: This type of research is development research with a 4D model that Defined, Designed, Developed, and Disseminated. The data analysis technique used descriptive analysis and calculation of scientific literacy.  Result: For the results small-scale trial, most students were in the high category. The results of the large-scale test for junior high school in Jember, Indonesia show most students in the medium category. The results of the large-scale test for junior high school in Probolinggo, Indonesia show most students in the high category. The results of this study prove Digital Assessment developed is very effective for measuring the scientific literacy of junior high school students, especially regarding environmental pollution. Novelty: Researchers have never previously conducted research that developed a Moodle-based Digital Assessment to measure the scientific literacy skills of junior high school students.

Abstract

Developing technology-based teaching materials, such as e-modules, is an effective method for training students' thinking abilities, such as critical thinking and scientific literacy. Objective: This research aims to assess the characteristics, feasibility, and students’ responses to developing an e-module of viral material based on the CIRCSA learning model. Method: The ADDIE development framework, including analysis, design, and development, was used to conduct this research. The scope of this research is limited to assessing the feasibility of the CIRCSA-based e-module characteristics, materials, media, and students’ responses on small-scall trials. Results: Data analysis revealed that the CIRCSA-based e-module that integrates critical thinking and scientific literacy achieved an very valid criterion. The feasibility of materials and media obtained a very valid category. Additionally, students' responses to the e-module usage resulted in a very good category.  Novelty: Developing CIRCSA-based e-modules to improve students' critical thinking and scientific literacy has never been done before.
