Abstract

Understanding students’ interest in learning chemistry is essential for educators to design effective teaching strategies and promote academic success. This study aims to investigates the learning interest in chemistry among students at different grade levels in SMAN 7 Kerinci, focusing on the integration of mathematics with chemistry lessons. Through descriptive and comparative analyses, we examine the factors influencing students’ interest in chemistry and its integrative context with mathematics. Our findings reveal that students’ interest in learning chemistry tends to decline as they progress through higher grade levels, with 11th grade students showing a higher interest compared to 12th grade students. Additionally, the integration of mathematics with chemistry poses challenges for students, impacting their interest levels. This study underscores the importance of innovative teaching approaches to enhance students’ interest and engagement in chemistry education. Further research is needed to explore the underlying factors influencing students’ interest in learning chemistry comprehensively. By understanding these factors, educators can develop targeted interventions to foster students’ interest and passion for chemistry, ultimately promoting academic success and nurturing future scientists and innovators.

Abstract

Learning media is one of the important things of learning tools that can increase students' interest in learning. This study aims to develop KALIKA (Five Character Cards) learning media on the classification of living things using the Educational Design Research (EDR) method to enhance student achievement. The development model refers to ADDIE with a design thinking framework. The research was carried out at one of the Junior High School in Bandung City, during the even semester of 2023/2024, with a focus on students in class VII, totaling 21 participants. Convenient sampling was utilized for subject selection. The data collection techniques in this research data are validation sheet, assessment formative (pretest and posttest), and questionnaire user response. The validation sheet and user response questionnaire were processed into percentage data using Microsoft Excel, while the formative test results were processed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test statistical test and N-gain using SPSS. The results of this study showed that the validation test data obtained a validity percentage of 92.4% which categorized as very valid criteria, the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results state p <0.05 which means there is a significant difference between the pretest and post-test, and the results of the effectiveness test with N-gain effectiveness results of 0.31 which means the effectiveness of student learning is in the moderate category, and 95% students give positive response to KALIKA as learning media. This shows that using KALIKA learning media is quite effective as a support to improve student learning outcomes on the classification of living things. Previous researchers have never developed card-learning media using ADDIE with a design thinking framework, which contains five characters of 5 kingdoms of living things.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of the Teams Games Tournament (TGT) model assisted by Quizizz Paper Mode media on energy topic on students' critical thinking skills, and determine the scientific attitude of students through the application of the TGT model assisted by Quizizz Paper Mode media on energy topic in class VIII junior high school. This study used a quantitative true experimental method with a control group pretest-posttest design. Data were collected through pretest and posttest results, scientific attitude questionnaire, and learning implementation observation sheet. Based on the results of the test data analysis with an independent sample t-test, we obtained t_count 2.86 > t_table 2.018 with a significance value of 0.007 < 0.05, it can be concluded that H_0 is rejected and H_1 is accepted. The analysis of the scientific attitude questionnaire obtained an average percentage of students' scientific attitudes of 78% (high category). It can be concluded that the TGT model assisted by Quizizz Paper Mode media on energy topic is effective on critical thinking skills and has a good impact on the scientific attitude of students. The application of TGT assisted by Quizizz Paper Mode media can help students understand the use of Quizizz Paper Mode digital media that can be applied to other topics.

Abstract

The circulatory system is one of the topics in Biology that is difficult to understand. The learning method of reading and explaining is one of the reasons it is difficult to learn Biology material and is no longer suitable to be applied in the current era. This method seems monotonous, less interesting and boring because it does not actively involve students. Student activities only read learning books and listen to teacher explanations. Augmented Reality can be used as a media to help learn the circulatory system. This research aims to analyze previous research regarding the application of Augmented Reality (AR) in learning the circulatory system. The research method used in the analysis is a systematic literature review. The literature used uses a qualitative approach and the type of literature research. The author conducted a literature review study by finding journals that matched keywords and then selected 15 relevant English or Indonesian journals. The data obtained will be analyzed descriptively and thematically. Based on the analysis, it can be concluded that the application of Augmented Reality (AR) has positive benefits in the application of circulatory system learning media, including making the learning process easier, increasing students' interest and motivation to learn, and making the learning process more fun and interesting.

Abstract

The study’s goals are to find out how the students in class IX-A at MTsN 11 Tasikmalaya’s critical thinking skills and activities improved after using the problem-based learning (PBL) model with the help of multimedia apps on their Android phones and to see how they felt about the model. We conducted this classroom action research in three cycles, utilizing the Kurt Lewin design, which included stages of planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. Multiple-choice tests with reasons were used to measure critical thinking skills, while student activity sheets and questionnaires were used to assess student activity and responses. The results showed an increase in student activity, from 60.2% (poor) in cycle I to 78.5% (good) in cycle II and 80.6% (good) in cycle III. An increase in critical thinking skills also occurred, with an N-Gain value of 0.43 (low) in cycle I, increasing to 0.68 (moderate) in cycle II and 0.69 (moderate) in cycle III. There was no significant difference between male and female students. In general, the students’ response to the Android-based multimedia-assisted PBL model was positive, with a score of 80.1%.

Abstract

Microsoft Sway is a feature that can be used as a practicum learning media to equip the skill lab creativity of students. In this study, an E-laboratory instruction was produced using Microsoft Sway media. E-laboratory instruction is prepared by integrating ethno-STEM. The purpose of this research is to examine the level of feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of the developed e-laboratory instruction. Model development used a 4D model from Thiagarajan (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate), with test subjects being high school students in 11th grade. Data collection techniques used expert validation sheets, user response questionnaires, observation sheets and test questions. The data analysis technique uses percentage descriptive statistics. The study results show that based on the expert’s assessment, e-laboratory instruction is deemed appropriate by both material and media experts. The results of the student response questionnaire showed that the e-laboratory was declared “Very practice”, with a percentage of 86.15% in small-scale tests and 86.33% in large-scale tests. The average of skill lab creativity based on indicators of planning skills, implementation-interpretation skills, also communication skills show a percentage of 87.19. These results indicate that e-laboratory instruction using Microsoft Sway features is feasible, practical, and adequate for acid-base practicum learning.
