Abstract

Fishermen's wives have an important role in supporting the family economy. This research aims to determine the role of fishermen's wives and their contribution to supporting the family economy. This research method is descriptive. The data used are primary and secondary. The sampling method uses a purposive sampling technique, meaning that samples are taken using certain criteria. The results of the research concluded that the role of fishermen's wives in supporting the family's economy was motivated by the husband's income being insufficient for daily needs, the uncertainty of going to sea especially when there was a lean season, namely the western season where the fish caught was very minimal, so the fishermen's wives took the initiative to take Her roles include drying fish, selling ice cubes, selling cakes and selling fish caught by her husband. With direct involvement, fishermen's wives can make a big contribution to their families with the highest income contribution of fishermen's wives being as fish sellers, namely 94%, meaning that fishermen's wives have a very important role in increasing the family's economic income, where fishermen's wives' income as fish sellers is more larger than the income of fishermen's wives in other fields.

Abstract

The Matakus Beach is located in the Village of Matakus, South Tanimbar Subdistrict, Tanimbar Islands Regency (KKT), Maluku Province. This beach is situated on a small island with a total area of about 474 hectares and a circumference of 9,972 meters. Consequently, Matakus Island has promising prospects for development into an island tourism destination, necessitating an economic valuation. This research aims to determine the influence of travel costs to Matakus Beach on the interest to revisit, analyze the factors affecting the number of visits to Matakus Beach, and assess the economic value of Matakus Beach tourism. The basic research methods employed include survey, literature review methods and the data analysis is quantitative. The research findings indicate that the general characteristics of respondents show that tourists are predominantly aged 27-36 year with an average income of Rp 4.08 million per month. The results show travel costs amounting to Rp 32,615,000 per month. The analysis indicates that the variable with a significant relationship to the number of tourist visits is the travel cost variable, with a significance value of 0.004 smaller than 0.05 (0.004 <0.05), meaning that the number of tourist visits is mutually influenced by travel costs. The coefficient of determination (R²) is 0.624, indicating an independent variability of 62.4%. The economic value of Matakus Beach tourism is calculated at Rp 178,412,140 per month.

Abstract

In mid-2022, there was damage to mangroves in Poka Village, precisely in front of the PT State Electricity Company (PT PLN) Diesel Power Plant (PLTD-Poka), allegedly due to accidental exposure to waste due to pipe leaks during bridge construction activities. If you look closely, the mangrove damage that occurs on the coast in front of the PLTD-Poka is not only caused by waste but also by community rubbish. Making coastal communities in Poka Village the driving force for mangrove conservation raises the question, namely, what is the current attitude of coastal communities in Poka Village towards mangrove damage? One component of attitude that is interesting to study is perception. Based on this, it is important to conduct research on coastal communities' perceptions of mangrove damage in Poka Village, Ambon. This research method is a case study, a sample of 61 people are heads of families in coastal communities around the mangrove damaged area in Poka Village which was determined using the Isaac and Michael equation and taken using simple random sampling. Data obtained through primary and secondary data collection were analyzed using a Likert scale approach. The five scale scores were analyzed by modifying the value equation, mean, interval and indicator index criteria for the question instrument. The results of the research show that the perception of coastal communities in Poka Village regarding mangrove damage is knowing or positive. This perception is formed from: sight (knowing about the existence of mangroves), feeling (feeling the benefits of mangroves indirectly), and utilization (using mangrove resources directly).

Abstract

The mangrove forest ecosystem in Indonesia is currently in a critical state, with approximately 68% or 5.9 million hectares of the total 8.6 million hectares experiencing damage. Various approaches have been taken to reduce this damage and preserve the existence of mangrove forests in Indonesia. One such approach is through extensive conservation efforts, including those in the mangrove forest areas of Namaea and Namaseru coastal, Negeri Pelauw, Central Maluku Regency. This research aims to: 1) identify and analyze the potential of mangrove forests; 2) measure the physical-chemical parameters supporting the mangrove ecosystem; and 3) analyze the suitability of mangrove forest conservation development. The analysis stages of mapping the mangrove forest areas in this research begin with the determination of observation stations and data collection, followed by biophysical analysis. The data collected in this study are related to suitability indicators for mangrove conservation based on criteria from Wardhani (2011), Hutabarat (2009), and Khomsin (2005). The research conducted in Namaseru coastal found 16 mangrove species, while in Namaea coastal, 14 mangrove species were identified. The physical-chemical parameters supporting the Negeri Pelauw mangrove ecosystem, including water temperature, salinity, substrate type, slope, distance from freshwater sources/rivers, tidal height, pH, and current, are still within ranges conducive to mangrove forest growth. The suitability index for conservation area development in Namaea coastal is categorized as Very Suitable (S1), and in Namaseru coastal, it is categorized as Suitable (S2).

Abstract

Ambon City is part of the Maluku Province which has very potential fisheries resources and also human resources (youth) who are expected to participate in the development of the aquaculture sector. The role of youth as the next generation is expected to be able to form perspectives in developing aquaculture businesses in the future, for this reason this research was conducted to analyze youth perspectives on grouper (Ephinephelus Sp) aquaculture in Ambon City. The sampling method for viewing youth perspectives in this study is the purposive sampling method (Sugiyono, 2015), which measures youth perspectives using a Likert Scale (Sugiyono, 2010). With a Likert Scale, the variables to be measured are translated into variable indicators (perspective of basic knowledge, cultivation techniques, interest in cultivation and cultivation business development). Based result using the likert scale that the youth’s knowledge in groupe cultivation is a very high with youth interval who involved is 2,91 more higher than youth who not involved 2,43. Tecnical knowledge about cultivation is olso higt. Youth involved knowledge about cultivation youth involved in cultivation 2,66, inversely propotional with youth who not involved in cultivation be on 1,59. Youth interest with groupe cultivation get an higher presentage 2,71 and who not interested 2,35 and related with grouper cultivation development in the future have rank 2,67 compared to the uninvolved 1,68. Generally the total number from whole perspective comparison between youth with the grouper cultivation development in Ambon is already high with interval precentege 2,40.
