To enhance the credibility of Web service composition, Pi-calculus based formal modeling of trust Web service composition is proposed. Trust Web service composition is firstly defined abstractly; then Pi-calculus is used to depict structure and internal interaction of Trust Web service composition, the mapping relation between trust entity and Pi-calculus is provided. Automatic reasoner MWB is adopted to analyze and reason the Trust Web service composition system, which is aimed at finding and correcting the faults before the implementation of trust authentication of Web service composition. It thus meets the users’ demands on trust quality effectively. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i8.3039

Fruit recognition is useful for automatic fruit harvesting. Fruit recognition application can reduce or minimize human intervention during fruit harvesting operation. However, in computer vision, fruit recognition is very challenging because of similar shapes, colors and textures among various fruits. Illuminations changes due to weather condition also leads to a challenging task for fruit recognition. Thus, this paper tends to investigate the performance of basic Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), Alexnet and Googlenet in recognizing nine different types of fruits from a publicly available dataset. The experimental results indicate that all these techniques produce excellent recognition accuracy, but basic CNN achieves the fastest recognition result compared with Alexnet and Googlenet.

The excitation of the higher-order mode, in rectangular dielectric resonator designed was explored to enhance the antenna gain and detailed elaboration is presented in this paper. The antenna was fed by a 50Ω microstrip line through an aperture cut in the ground plane. Besides avoiding spurious radiation, this feeding technique gives flexibility in controlling the amount of coupling in order to reduce the Q-factor in the higher-order mode RDRA. A design was developed and subsequently simulated using Ansoft HFSS ver 16.0 by utilizing Duroid 5880 dielectric substrate with a thickness (ts) of 0.254 mm, a permittivity (εs) of 2.2 and a loss tangent (δ) of 0.001 at 15 GHz. The higher-order mode, RDRA achieved the measured gain at 9.76 dBi and the measured impedance bandwidth as much 2.5 GHz which is 4.7% more compared to the fundamental mode. The result should be considered suitable for 5G applications.

A nonlinear polarization rotation technique-based mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser has been experimentally demonstrated using a 0.75 m long highly concentrated erbium-doped fiber as the gain medium. With unintentional polarization dependent loss induced by twisting single-mode fiber in an intracavity polarization controller, the optical output of the laser shifts from continuous wavelength to modelocked soliton pulse. A stable and cleaner pulse with a repetition rate of 15.32 MHz laser wavelengths and a pulse energy of 0.496 nJ with optical signal-to noise ratio of more than 33 dB are successfully obtained using a simple ring cavity.

Lettuce image segmentation which based on computer image processing is the premise of non-destructive testing of lettuce quality. The traditional 2-D maximum entropy algorithm has some faults, such as low accuracy of segmentation, slow speed, and poor anti-noise ability. As a result, it leads to the problems of poor image segmentation and low efficiency. An improved 2-D maximum entropy algorithm is presented in this paper. It redistricts segmented regions and furtherly classifies the segmented image pixels with the method of the minimum fuzzy entropy, and reduces the impact of noise points, as a result the image segmentation accuracy is improved. The improved algorithm is used to lettuce object segmentation, and the experimental results show that the improved segmentation algorithm has many advantages compared with the traditional 2-D maximum entropy algorithm, such as less false interference, strong anti-noise ability, good robustness and validity. The air pollution in China has been quite serious, and biomass is extremely rich in large agricultural country. In the view of current situation, highly efficient solar collectors, wind energy and solar energy coupled heating straw gasification system is studied. The stability of continuous gas production is analyzed in various weather conditions including windy, calm, sunny and cloudy. Highly efficient solar panels, wind energy and solar energy coupled heating straw gasification control system is raised. This system overcomes the time variability of the weather conditions to ensure the stability of the continuous gas production under a variety of weather conditions. It has high quality of gas production, strong anti-interference ability and robustness. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i12.3750

With the miniaturization and portability of online detection and grading equipment, traditional PC is being replaced with ARM or DSP embedded systems in beef quality grading industry. As the low basic frequency of embedded system, the traditional beef marbling segmentation method can not meet requirements of real-time performance. The fast segmentation algorithm of beef marbling based on image resampling is put forward aiming the disadvantages that the traditional method is time-consuming and does not apply to embedded systems. First, the entropies of the original image and resampling image were calculated according to the entropy principle to determine the image resampling rate based on entropy constraint according to the changes of relative information entropy of resampling image. Then fuzzy c-mean (FCM) cluster segmentation was conducted on the resampling image to calculate the beef image segmentation threshold. Finally, beef marbling area is segmented via morphological and logic operations on a series of images. The experimental results show that this proposed algorithm took 0.57s on average in beef marbling image segmentation under the constraints that the loss rate of relative information entropy ranged between 0.5-1.0%, which is only 6.43% of that of the traditional FCM cluster segmentation algorithm, indicating significantly augmented efficiency of segmentation. Aiming at special demanding of weather monitoring in power system, an application project was designed basing on new type distributed and smart automatic weather station (AWS) Defects such as fixed hardware configuration and centralized data acquisition are overcome in new AWS. With distributed data acquisition node, AWS can extend and add new sensors for disaster forecasting of lightning, strong gale, icing of transmission line and insulators contamination flashover in power system and it is also convenient for evaluation of wind energy, solar energy and for power load forecasting. Using protective power supply to each node, AWS has high performance of lightning protection, which will not let system breakdown for any node crash. Three-stage automatic self-checking for node state is included, which can make failure diagnosis efficient. Data quality checking node is created in new AWS. It can provide data self-checking function and improve reliability of data from unattended AWS. Finally, application models of monitoring data are introduced. New type AWS is fit for system with many sensors or large amount of data flow. And this project can supply accurate, adequate and real-time data for weather disaster prevention and other applications in power system. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i2.1990

License Plate Recognition (LPR) is the mission of identifying the vehicle using number plate extraction. An efficient method for recognizing plate based on Undecimated Wavelet Transform (UWT) is proposed. Plates are recognized using features from undecimated coefficients in this system. Morphological edge detection technique is used to get accurate results after feature extraction. Finally detected images are used for classification purpose using the feature coefficients. This technique is applied to all the unidentified and training images, extracted features are used as input to Back Propagation Neural Network (BPNN). The evaluation of the system is based on public database.

One of challenge in rectenna design is the impedance matching of the antenna to the rectifier load. Rectifier exhibits complex impedance while antennas are normally designed to match either 50 Ω or 75 Ω loads. For the optimum power transfer between antenna and the rectifier circuit, both impedances should be matched. This paper presents the design and development of the 7-stages Dickson multiplier in energy harvesting. The objective of this paper is to analyze the performance of the designed multiplier together with matching circuit. An improvement of 60% output voltage is achieved by feeding -30dBm of low input power at the multiplier circuit.
