Abstract

In this work, baseline energy model development using Artificial Neural Network (ANN) with resampling techniques; Cross Validation (CV) and Bootstrap (BS) are presented. Resampling techniques are used to examine the ability of the ANN model to deal with a small dataset. Working days, class days and Cooling Degree Days (CDD) are used as ANN input meanwhile the ANN output is monthly electricity consumption. The coefficient of correlation (R) is used as performance function to evaluate the model accuracy. For this analysis, R is calculated for the entire data set (R_all) and separately for training set (R_train), validation set (R_valid) dan testing set (R_test). The closer R to 1, the higher similarities between targeted and predicted output. The total of two different models with several number of neurons are developed and compared. It can be concluded that all models are capable to train the network. Artificial Neural Network with Bootstrap Cross Validation technique (ANN-BSCV) outperforms Artificial Neural Network with Cross Validation technique (ANN-CV).  The 3-6-1 ANN-BSCV, with R_train = 0.95668, R_valid = 0.97553, R_test = 0.85726 and R_all = 0.94079 is selected as the baseline energy model to predict energy consumption for Option C IPMVP.

Abstract

In the threshold de-noising method based on wavelet transform, not only the threshold and threshold function, but also the decomposition level is an important factor in practical application. Signals under different noise levels correspond with different optimal decomposition levels. A method to determine the optimal decomposition level based on the white noise verification of wavelet detail coefficients is proposed. The effectiveness of this method is validated by the pressure signal de-noising experiment. Aiming to the need of sample points in hypothesis test, the performance of five hypothesis test methods are simulated and analyzed, and the application rules are summarized.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v10i5.1366

Abstract

In this paper unified power quality conditioner has been used to enhance low voltage ride through capability of grid connected wind conversion system taking Doubly fed induction generator (DFIG). Unified Power quality conditioner (UPQC) device is a combination of series active filter and shunt active filter. This custom power device is mainly used to mitigate power quality issues which is an essential factor today because of wide application of power electronics devices. UPQC is capable to deal with voltage and current imperfection simultaneously. It is installed in the system mainly to improve the power quality i.e. Voltage sag/swell, Harmonics, reactive power compensation etc. at point of common coupling. System is modeled in MATLAB/SIMULINK and results shows utilization of UPQC for the enhancement of LVRT of a DFIG wind system according to Grid code. when fault occurs in the system, it will create voltage dip and series compensator of UPQC injects during this time to prevent disconnection from grid and stay connected to contribute during fault. UPQC is also used for fast restoration of system steady state, power factor improvement, prevent rotor over current.

Abstract

Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is a promising packet switching technology in the field of communication network, allowing router to forward the packets based on labels. However, off-the-shelves routers are made to be non-configurable, making it less suitable for academic research purposes. The aim of this paper is to explore the possibility of developing a configurable MPLS router by reviewing embedded system-based router, software-based router and commercial MPLS router itself. The architecture of the routers will be described in detail and their performances will be compared. From the analysis, we found that the development of reconfigurable MPLS router testbed is achievable by using embedded system-based hardware due to its freedom of reconfigurability.

Abstract

The model structure of Double Pendulum Robot (DPR) has been built up with Lagrange equations. To reduce the difference between simulation control and real-time control, the kinetic parameters of Double pendulum robot (DPR) is accurately identified with proposed improved genetic algorithm (IGA) which integrated hybrid coding, hamming distance, orthogonal experiment, feedback mutation, and a specially designed fitness function. This improved genetic algorithm (IGA) overcome the shortcoming of traditional genetic algorithm, strengthen global and local searching capability, and get results more close to global optimal solution.  Finally, the optimal results (kinetic parameter values) are applied to model, and make a contrast experiment of zero input response between searched optimal kinetic parameters and real kinetic parameters of DPR. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i3.2174

Abstract

Road traffic congestion, a serious illness in developing regions, is one of the biggest problems in our day-to-day life, resulting in delays, wastage of fuel and money. In this paper, a new model is developed using Simulation of Urban Mobility (SUMO) simulator for simulating a realistic traffic scenario for a large city like Bhubaneswar where, traffic congestion is a critical issue. In a city, traffic congestion is characterised by many parameters such as rapid growth of population, number of four wheelers, inadequate and poor road infrastructures and shortage of physical plan to govern the developments, which are focused on enhancing the volume of the roads by raising the number of lanes, over-passes, underpasses and over-bridges at many junctions. However, for the success of these master plans to fully overcome the congestion issues, it is necessary to transmit the congestion information to vehicles coming towards a congestion area by using a Vehicular Ad-hoc Network. This paper analyzes clustering techniques in Vehicular Ad-hoc Networks to detect congestion in roads with the minimal infrastructural support. The raw data from vehicles are classified using cluster analysis. Out of a number of algorithms that are used to solve the congestion detection problem, three important algorithms such as Centroid based -means, object based FCM and FKM algorithms are compared in this work on the basis of data points and number of clusters. The results of the algorithms are close to each other, but fuzzy techniques are preferable as the traffic situations are dynamic in nature.

Abstract

Fusion droplets is a key operation in a microfluidic device for microfluidic analysis. A new fusion method for droplets was presented. An interditigal transducer and a reflector were fabricated on 1280-yx LiNbO3 piezoelectric substrate using microelectric technology. A poly-dimethyl silicone micro-channel was made by soft lithography technology and mounted on the piezoelectric substrate. Droplets in the microchannel were actuated by surface acoustic wave and fussed each other. Coloured dye solution droplets were used to fusion experiments. Results show that the two droplets in the microchannel can be fused by help of surface acoustic wave, and size of droplets, distance of droplets and RF signal power can affect successful fusion of the droplets. Abstract

This paper proposes an integrated health information systems framework for Traditional Malay Medicine (TMM) and modern medicine in the field of postnatal care. A qualitative study was conducted via healthcare experts in the field of modern medicine and Traditional Malay Medicine to assess the current situation and identify the research gap and point of isolation between both traditional and modern medicine field. A total of 26 healthcare practitioners whom represented five different set of healthcare organisations participated in this study. The healthcare practitioners consist of modern and traditional Malay medicine background with and without proper training. Results show that there is a gap in the current people, process and technology areas of the current framework. A novel conceptual framework, MyPostnatal, proposes the existence of a sufficiently generic, extensible in-formation model where new data sources can be integrated without major changes to the data scheme. Human and organization factors are also highlighted to stimulate the adoption towards electronic health records.
