Synchronous generators require certain protection against loss of excitation because it can lead to harmful effect to a generator and main grid. Systems of powers are evolving with applications of new techniques to increase reliability and security, at the meantime techniques upgradation is being existed to save financial cost of a different component of power system, which affect protection ways this report discuss the way of loss of excitation protection scheme for an increase in a synchronous generator. It is obvious that when direct axis synchronous reactance has a high value, the coordination among loss of excitation protection and excitation control is not effective. This lead to restricting absorption capability of the reactive power generator. This report also reviews the suitable philosophy for setting the limiters of excitation and discusses its effect on loss of excitation protection and system performance. A protection scheme is developed to allow for utilization of machine capability and power swing blocking is developed to increase the reliability when power swing is stable.

One of the key issues for those involved in farming and greenhouse is the use of pesticides. In a recent headline, there has been an epidemic of insect infestation that has destroyed 211 hectares of rice plants. These concerns have led to the discussion of possible over-use of pesticides that are not just killing dangerous pests, but also other animals that help combat the pest. In order to overcome the problem, a research was conducted by introducing a smart insect killer. In this developing project, Pyroelectric (PIR) sensor will be using as a motion detector towards insects. This sensor plays a role to transmit the signal for action in taking care of the plant. The IR sensors will install around the plant, so that it has good range to detect any motion. As a result, suitable chemical spray will trigger to repel these insects. A light emitting diode as an indicator of functional to the system. "Smart Insect Repeller" will work when certain pests are detected and this will reduce the use of poisons and the quality of the crop will be preserved due to the use of minimal poisons.

This paper presents a brief overview of narrowband direction of arrival (DOA) estimation algorithms and techniques. A comprehensive study is carried out in this paper to investigate and evaluate the performance of variety of algorithms for DOA estimation. Two categories of DOA estimation algorithms are considered for discussion which are Classical methods and Subspace based techniques. Classical methods include Sum-and-Delay method and Capon’s Minimum Variance Distortionless Response (MVDR) while Subspace based techniques are multiple signal classification (MUSIC) and The Minimum Norm Technique. Also ESPIRIT technique is evaluated. Inefficiencies are pointed out and solutions are suggested to overcome these shortfalls. Simulation results shows that the MUSIC algorithm is able to better represent the DOAs of signals with more prominent peaks. The Min-Norm algorithm also identifies the DOAs of signals similar to the MUSIC algorithm, but produces spurious peaks at other locations. The MVDR method identifies the DOAs of signals, but the locations are not represented by sharp peaks, due to spectral leakage. The classical beamformer also produces several spurious peaks. MUSIC show higher accuracy and resolution than the other algorithms. It should be noted that MUSIC is more applicable because it can be used for different array geometries.

To further improve the performance of blind equalization based on T/4 fractionally spaced decision feedback equalizer, RLS algorithm is adopted to update the weights of equalizer according to simplified constant modulus algorithm (CMA) cost function. CMA cost function is simplified to meet second norm form in this work, and then the forward filter of equalizer with T/4 fractionally-spaced updates by RLS algorithm and the feedback filter of equalizer with symbol-spaced updates by gradient descent algorithm. Computer simulation results show that the algorithm proposed in this work has faster convergence rate and lower mean square error compare with blind equalization based on symbol-spaced and T/4 fractionally-spaced decision feedback equalizer based on gradient descend algorithm.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i6.2156

In this paper, a 3-phase induction motor model for simulation the field oriented control (FOC) system based on space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) is established in Ansoft/Simplorer software. The theory of field oriented control (FOC) and the principle of space vector pulse width modulation (SVPWM) were introduced. The simulation results are presented and analyzed. A Simulink simulation model of field oriented control system is presented as a comparison under the same conditions. The results indicated that the Simplorer model had quick response speed, small torque fluctuations and good performance both in steady and dynamic states. Furthermore, the Simplorer model can be coupled with the finite element model of the motor to achieve field-circuit coupling simulation of induction motor’s field oriented control system. A Weblogs contains the history of User Navigation Pattern while user accessing the websites. The user navigation pattern can be analyzed based on the previous user navigation that is stored in weblog. The weblog comprises of various entries like IP address, status code and number of bytes transferred, categories and time stamp. The user interest can be classified based on categories and attributes and it is helpful in identifying user behavior. The aim of the research is to identifying the interested user behavior and not interested user behavior based on classification. The process of identifying user interest, it consists of Modified Span Algorithm and Personalization Algorithm based on the classification algorithm user prediction can be analyzed. The research work explores to analyze user prediction behavior based on user personalization that is captured from weblogs.

This paper presents a study on mortality rates and life expectancy improvements among elderly people in Malaysia. The central age-specific mortality rates will be analyzed according to genders. The expectation of future lifetime of these old age people will be estimated using the actuarial life table approach. Two different types of life table will be developed, including life table for males and females--- to compare the results of mortality rates and life expectancies between genders. Results show that, mortality rates of Malaysian elderly, for both males and females are increasing almost in linear pattern by age, and this trend is consistent from 1950 to 2015. Comparison between genders shows that mortality of elderly females is generally lower than males at almost all ages. Nonetheless, mortality rates of Malaysian elderly males are declining faster than Malaysian elderly females. Life expentancies of females are higher than males for age groups 60 to 70, and lower than males for age 75 and above. Results also indicate that Malaysian elderly popultion is aging faster from previous generation in which elderly males age 85+ in 2010-2015 can live longer by 123% than thise in 1950-1955.

Abstract—Because network traffic is complexand the existingprediction models have various limitations, a new network traffic prediction model based on wavelettransform and optimized support vector machine(ChOSVM) is proposed.Firstly, the network traffic is decomposed to the scale coefficients andwavelet coefficients by non-decimated wavelet transform based on suitablewavelet base and decomposition level. Then they are sent individually intodifferent SVM with suitable kernel function for prediction. The parameters ofSVM are selected by chaos particle swarm optimization. Finally predictions arecombined into the final result by wavelet reconstruction. Experiments onnetwork traffic of different time granularity show that compared with othernetwork traffic prediction models, ChOSVM has better performance. D-S evidence theory is usually used for the fusion of multi-source information. But the fusion result is always against with general knowledge for the heavy conflict of evidence. Research on combination of conflict evidence at home and abroad is summarized and analyzed in detail. On the base of this, the conclusion that modified evidence combination method of conflict evidence is more useful can be dawn. Effective evidence conflict measure is the first step of conflict evidence combination. The existing conflict measure methods are summarized and the main problem of those methods is analyzed in detail. Based on previous research of conflict evidence combination, a modified measure factor of evidence conflict which is called Mconf is put forward. Mconf is mainly built up with modified distance of evidence named mdBPA and traditional evidence conflict factor named k. The examples in this paper show that Mconf can measure the evidence conflict correctly, both for general evidence and conflict evidence. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v14i3.7850
